I'm happy with elfsight

We installed the Elfsight Google Reviews widget on our website. Our Google Reviews were displaying nicely and we were happy... Less than 24 hrs later we got an email "you've reached 70% of your view limit". This was strange as our website was still in the build phase and had not even been launched, basically nobody was 'viewing' the site except a few devs working on the site.

150+ views in < 24hrs on a site still in the build phase seemed very fishy, so I emailed customer support and did some digging how their 'view' count works. Basically, how Elfsight 'counts' 'views' is a SCAM.

Elfsight counts a 'view' as whenever a page loads with their widget installed on. Even if its the same customer (same IP address). Alas, a single customer can quickly rock up 20-50 'views' and burn through your view limit VERY quickly.

Hardly surprising as Elfsight adopt a 'pay per view' payment model, so they directly profit from 'views' of their widget. However the way they count 'views' is scandalous and ACTIVELY DISCOURAGES you from placing their widget on webpages that will get a lot of traffic (i.e. if you place your Google reviews on your homepage you will BURN through your view limit almost immediately).

In my book, having to 'hide' reviews from high traffic areas of the website is entirely counterproductive!

So despite the Elfsight app working exactly as intended, and being easy to install, we have removed it because there is NO WAY that we can verify Elfsights 'view' figure is accurate and therefore verify their pricing to us is correct. If they said views were 10,000 in 24 hours we'd have no way of confirming or denying this with any metrics typically recorded for websites. In short, they can charge you whatever you like...

Works flawlessly on maarsen.ch and the support is very fast, adequate and polite.

Scam! Terrible UX pattern that makes you work first and pay later, absolutely awful business that takes advantage of users.

Superb, easy to use and install that even transforms a site on blogger. The people at Elfsight have been really helpful, easy to talk to and so nice to be able to actually talk to actual person and them actually listen.

I don't think any of the 1 to 2 star reviews are deserved at all on this site hence why I am writing a review of my experience. If you don't expect to pay for widgets that literally save you hundreds or thousands of dollars in custom coding work, then you shouldn't be using this tool. I am a Wordpress website designer with 10+ years of experience, and the library of widgets available through Elfsights has not only saved me thousands of dollars whether it be paying for individual plugins to do the job or for custom development work I would have to outsource. The tools on this website are best used for web professionals in my opinion, and if you are trying to run a business appropriately it's probably best to hire a web professional to save yourself time and money and not blame the tool because you don't know what you're doing. If you are a web developer looking to speed up your development time with a suite of high quality no code widgets I highly recommend giving Elfsight a go.

I have been using elfsight for 1,5 years now, and can say that I am outmost satisfied with the product.
Tons of different widgets. I you feature comparison, google reviews, facebook reviews, countdown timer. They all have a great design and are easy to configure.
Very simple to implement on your website.

I loved the app, and was actively using it. Spent hundreds of dollars as an early supporter and they decided to downgrade unilaterally the plan we have with scammy excuses. I hope they reconsider their steps, i totally lost faith in them and i won't encourage anyone to trust after they did this to us. Really bad.

Elfsight sells a widget for displaying Trustpilot reviews. However this widget is not permitted by Trustpilot and they will threaten to disable your account if you do not remove the widget. Had I paid yearly, this would have resulted in a loss of income.

I adore Elfsight, I am on the developer account and as such this gives me 5m views per app refreshing monthly. This is perfect for me as, aside from being a property photographer for holiday accommodation, I also build websites for many of those same properties. Lots of those use review websites such as TripAdvisor and Google Places, and as such I can offer them... for a fee, reviews feeds on a per annum basis. It is perfect. It also enhances my own website too that is based on Shopify and otherwise not possible to achieve that easily otherwise.

Great Service!
For an acceptable price you get a lot of widgets, almost everything I need I get from elfsight.
Sometimes their interface can be a little unstable, but the support is really good. I had a small problem with it for 2 times and both times the support replied within 24hrs and solved my problem while being really understanding and caring.

All in all great service, would recommend!

The business model for this company is simple, it is a pay as you go review widget to display reviews and star rating on your website.

They charge based on views, not unique visiters but views, ie page loads, so one visitor can easily take up 20 views from your allowance.

This is all great for small businesses to utilise a pay and go system, however in reality it is not the case.

We have the 5000 packages and noticed it depleted very fast, with our web stats showing only a few hundred-page loads we were suspicious, cancelled our subscription and contacted support who said that the views were accurate.

As we removed our subscription our widget was left to the free 200 views per widget. We remooved the widget from our site entirely and installed starfish reviews system instead. We continued to get emails over the next few months explaining that we had used up our view count and asking us to upgrade, upon logging into our account we could see that some how we had people load our review widget on our web page, but yet the widget had not been installed for at least two months by this point.

Before anybody threatens any legal battles, we can prove what we say here and were happy to provide this to anybody including readers of this review.

Obviously, by this stage, it was clear to us, that at least with our widget, Elfsights services were making up false views in order to capitalise (in our opinion, the evidence shows this).

I would not recommend their services, as their services make up false views to obtain more money from you every month.

It is a scam.

Tricks you into thinking plugins are free. absolutely not upfront about costs until you have signed up and wasted your time.
