If I’d read the reviews I would never have traded in my IPad 13” Pro (12th Gen). I was offered £445 which was low but the IPAD was as new. Not a single scratch or mark on the item. They send the packing for a phone so had to provide my own packaging. Item was ‘conveniently’ lost in the mail. My receipt is too faded to read the tracking number, but I suspect it has been stolen upon arrival at Likewise seeing as it looked like new. I’ve lost the IPad and the trade in value. Apple really should change this service provider. It’s a scam!!
DO NOT USE APPLE TRADE IN - ITS A SCAM
I wish I read these reviews beforehand.
Likewize is a scam third party company who will value your device as close to £0 as possible, and make up false claims about damage to the hardware, such as LCD issues (which I got).
It's incredible that Apple has partnered with this scam company, a company of such high value and with such a powerful brand image tarnished by the third partner they have partnered with.
On wikipedia it states:
"Likewize (formerly Brightstar Corp.) is a privately held American corporation founded in 1997 that operates in over 30 countries today. The company offers insurance, warranty, repair, trade-in, recycling, and premium tech support services to telcos, banks, carriers and retailers on smartphones, tablets, laptops and connected devices in the home.
In 2023 Likewize was recognized at the Mobile Industry Awards for the 3rd consecutive year as the best mobile/gadget insurance service provider in the industry."
It seems their US operations are well reviewed, and also Likewize repair UK is well reviewed too.
But GLOBALLY likewize apple trade in is reviewed as basically a scam. Incredible this is going on.

I bought a new iphone based on a trade-in value of $135 for my old phone but after I returned it (in good condition) the value was revised to $45.
The estimated trade-in value is a scam.

I was offered $90.00 in trade-in for my old iPad, which I described as accurately as possible. Today, I was notified that my revised trade-in refund is $0.00. The reason given was “LCD burn in damage/streaks/discoloration across the screen”
I didn’t notice any screen problems prior to the trade in. I wouldn’t use this program again.
Read these reviews before you send to Apple’s trade in partner.
I sent my iPad Pro 1st gen to Apple’s trade in partner as it was valued at £90 which I thought was fair.
It was in perfect working order and unmarked as I look after my stuff. When it was received the value was reduced to £15 as the iPad “was bent”. I refused and had my iPad returned. Unlike some reviewers I got my actual iPad back undamaged, and of course it wasn’t bent at all. This company is effectively fraudulently claiming that peoples trade ins are worth less than originally offered presumably so they can pocket the difference. I am shocked that a company with Apple’s reputation would be involved with this bunch of scam artists. I wish I had read the reviews before I got involved with these people - if you are going to use Apple trade in take your item to an Apple Store as many on here advise.
Don't trust Likewise
Likewize UK resorts to any excuse, including dishonest ones, to devalue your device to nothing. Avoid wasting your time with them—they are unreliable, and their business model is fundamentally flawed. Apple should be ashamed of partnering with such a disreputable company.
Apple trade in scam?
Like many on this forum I sent my old iPad pro (in perfect working order) to this company as a trade in for my new ipad. No communication from them so I checked the status to discover that the value had been reduced to zero! Let's see what I get back. I have complained to Apple Head Office who did not seem surprised and have offered to assist. I have told them that their 3rd party is damaging Apple's reputation and that the return packaging is not fit for purpose. If it was me I would be cancelling their contract.
Update: just received my old iPad back. It's in perfect working order. You can only assume it's a scam to get you to pay full price for an apple product. Sad really as apple used to set the standards for service.
What a load of rubbish
What a load of rubbish, gave them the number from my iPad and they said £160 so I paid for a new one and when it was delivered sent the old one back, after a couple of weeks they sent it back saying it did not qualify for part exchange so I had to pay full price for the new one, it was as described and working, I think it’s a scam to sell new ones
Don't bother - they lie
Upgraded to a new 13inch iPad Air, Keyboard and accessories, total cost over £1,400. Decided to trade in my exsiting iPad 10inch, estimated return value was a ridiculous £65, but decided to go ahead anyway. Took photos before sending of back and front before sending it back. It was in perfect condition both back and front and fully working order. Ii even took photos before I sent it but can't post here it seems. Not used it that much to be honest. Apple send a return kit and pre-paid lable to send it which is what I used. It goes to a return "partner". Today I have received an email saying the return value is reduced to £0.00 becaue there are "more than 13 imperfections on the enclosure/back glas OR dent larger than 5mm in length." Total rubbish and total lies. These people are lying - so just give yours to someone who actually might be able to make use of it. I have rejected their trade-in and am having it returned. If its damaged....well...
Having now read all these reviews I have just reported it all to BBC Watchdog.
What a rip-off
Apple offering £70 for a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), when any second-hand website advertises the same model for up to £400. Clearly Apple wants to massively profit from the trade-in program, but let's not advertise this as a sustainability solution to upcycle tech products. It's a lame way to rip off consumers.
Scammed by Apple again!
I have a perfectly good Apple Mac computer that I decided to trade in for a newer version. I received an email from Apple that the camera was broken. I have literally just used it. Nothing was wrong with this computer. My trade in value was reduced to 0 dollars. This happened with my husbands iPhone as well. It was in perfect condition and they said the screen was cracked and the Trade in was reduced to 0. Convenient for MAC after you already bought a new phone or computer. Huge scam!!!! Huge!!!
Angeblich Schrott…
Das eingesandte iPhone wurde zum Elektroschrott erklärt bei nominalem Tauschwert von 730€. Ich hab es selbstverständlich zurückgenommen und anschließend vollkommen funktionstüchtig bei backmarket für 768€ verkauft.
Don’t send your iPhone to trade in
I am only rating Apple trade in 1 star because I couldn’t give it zero. I just got the new iPhone 16 and decided to trade in my iPhone 13 (that was working perfectly fine with no problems at all and no scratches. They were offering me £355.00 on my old phone. Yesterday I received an email from Apple saying that my trade in value has been revised for only £89.00 due to LCD display burn in damage/streaks/discoloration across the screen. I am so disgusted by this that I am even considering putting Apple in court. Obviously I contacted the customer service and asked for proof. I was sent 2 pictures of my phone (one from the front and one from the back). I contacted them again saying those pictures don’t show any issues, they don’t prove that my phone has any problems with the LCD display and I wanted more pictures or videos or I wanted my phone back. For my totally surprise they don’t know if it will be possible to provide me further evidence and definitely not able to send my phone back because they recycle the phone once the valuation is done. Like WHAT??? So now I have no options but accepting only £89.00 for a perfect function iPhone… So disappointed with Apple. Don’t send your phone to trade in. Only do it in store. I feel like I’ve been stolen £266.00 from Apple.
Vorsicht ⚠️
What a shame
What a shame ! And I put apple in the same case
I wanted to sell my iMac 27 inches . I went in an Apple Store after having a call with apple hotline which confirms that was possible to bring it there. In the end when I went there they told me that was not possible !!! Then I open a dossier in likewize. It took hours
Very bad communication, finally they gave me a box to send it which I did but when it arrives they told me the screen was broken !!!! And value of the goods went down to 0 !!! It is a scandal and I am not responsible of the shipping issue. They managed it … they simply stole me
Apple trade in is a con
Purchased a new iPhone online from Apple's store and did store pick up. I was trading in my iPhone 12 which I would have to send away. The phone was in perfect condition when I sent it away only to be notified that it now has cracked back glass. I asked for pictures of the shipping packaging and was denied that. This is garbage that they provide the packaging and then hold you liable for damage.
Nie Wieder Apple Tarde IN
Not all bad...
When reading others experiences after I'd posted my trade in to Apple, I was expecting the worst.
But the estimated trade in value of £75 for my Apple Watch series 6 for reasonable condition was confirmed just 4 days later, and I received the credit to my account within 2 days of that.
Happy Apple & trade in customer :)
What a scam
What a scam. Sent my perfectly good iPhone 13 mini in as trade in. When parcels up I’m the box they provided that had internal protection it was in mint condition. Only to be informed in an email I can’t reply to that the screen had scratches and the camera lens was missing. My big mistake was not taking photos of it before I sent it. Be warned complete scam as I think they are hoping you will accept their review that I don’t think is correct
It seems Apple are running a scam
It seems Apple are running a scam. I sent my iphone 11 pro max in for trade in. Quoted £165 and then informed only worth £65 due to screen burn. The phone is immaculate and the offer was declined - took the trade in price straight from my current account.
I don’t think I will be replacing my apple products with further apple purchases. Lack of innovation and poor customer service.
