I am starting to learn Italian. An Italian I know speaks excellent English so I asked him what his secret was. He said he watched English language movies, with both subtitles and audio. He suggested the RAI site, which I downloaded in Italy. Unfortunately much of RAI cannot be seen in the US. So I turned to Yabla. I can get the same thing using Yabla! I am currently watching the first episode of the Adriano series. I have watched it for two weeks now for about 30 minutes each day. I find the repetition is great and I like the possibility of going from structured to less-structured, that is, multiple choice to using Scribe where you actually have to fill in the words by listening. Italian spelling is tricky but I am preserving. All in all I am enjoying my Yabla experience and look forward to practicing at least some Italian each day.

I will write my review later when I’m able to do it in Spanish. Pero ahora no. La programa Yabla es lo máximo! Yo me gusta mucho.

I have used Yabla to help with my Spanish and they offer a wide choice of levels and topics to make it interesting.

We need conversation, back and forth communication.

I love it when you have content like classes and in depth grammar explanations. These are things that are hard to grasp in Spanish and are very useful. But there is really not enough of this content in my opinion and way too much "fluff" content, at least in my opinion

In studying Italian, I am using several approaches: conversation, reading, and listening from various sources. I am using Yabla (1) to review what I think I know in grammar (my undergrad is in English and I have written for a living, so I find it easier to hold onto what I want to say if I know the structure). I find Daniela's short and to the point explanations a good review. But I'm also using the grammar course to listen, to find ways to say things. Her voice is remarkably clear and that makes this helpful. (2) Next, will be the films, both for listening for intonation and pacing and for entertainment (one tends to remember what one enjoys).
I've been getting the little freebies from Yabla for some time and finally decided to take the plunge.

Just starting back but I love the option to download videos and take them to the gym with me to watch while on the machines.

Yabla is particularly helpful in solving my main problem in learning a language: understanding what a native speaker means. Speaking can be done by memorizing rules and practicing, but does not solve the puzzle of "What is that person saying?!!" By utilizing the game features of Yabla, notably "SCRIBE," the difficult task of discerning sound and meaning from rapidly spoken dialect becomes possible (with a lot of practice, of course). "Scribe" forces one to listen closely, write out exactly what is heard, and requires the user to get it right, by doing it over and over until it IS right. In addition, Yabla allows the user to slow the speech by as much as 50%, and that often is very helpful in clarifying the frequently-slurred dialog. Sometimes I think Yabla is even better for learning than visiting foreign countries, as the natives don't come with captions and translations--or slower speeds!

At the moment my experience with Yabla it's been great!! I use it to improve my German and so far I'm leaning a lot and having fun while improving it. I even plan to sign up for Yabla French.
Totally recommended for people like me who prefer to study a language not using the traditional method.

All good except . . . . the Vocabulary Review.

This is an excellent exercise to review words by ear AND by having to write the words, including accents. BUT. The vocabulary words that YOU have chosen, not ME.

As I watch the video, I mark the words that I would like to review later, but you don't include them in the Vocabulary Review "game". Can you do that?

I've been using Yabla for only a short time, so I'm still learning to use some of the features effectively. I'm making a trip to Latin America in the near future and wanted to improve my ability to listen to the language at a normal speed. I like the ability to repeat words or sentences, and to hear words from different countries. It helps my vocabulary, and my comprehension is improving. The only drawback I've found is that some colloquialisms don't seem be easily translatable.

Yabla is an excellent way to practise aural vocabulary skills. It contains a wide range of topics to choose from and I have been quite pleased with the standard of the videos.

Yabla is amazing!! Yabla really helped my listening skills develop in Spanish! I especially love the loop feature.
However, there is one thing that I strongly dislike: the videos produced by Yabla are spoken much slower than natural speed. The optimal way to develop listening skills, EVEN FOR BEGINNERS (which I'm not) is to listen to native speakers speak normally. If they need to, they can use the turtle button.
Another great thing about Yabla is that it's incredibly easy to sort through their videos, which makes it clear to use. It would be even better if it showed all the videos in small, like Fluentu does.
(Having tried both Yabla and Fluentu, I prefer Yabla because of the price, easy way to navigate, games, leaderboards)

Yabla is great in many ways and I'm sure it could be a very useful tool to help me get closer to becoming fluent except the app doesn't show you how to use it or the best way to get the most out of it. I wish it would guide me a bit more instead of just giving me all these videos and games without any progression or guiding. Also there is not many videos for beginner Mexican Spanish. Most are for intermediate or advanced even if they say beginner.

Sometimes videos gets stuck while they are talking and I would like to mesure the speed I wish of video I am watching, so like “YouTube “
Also, I would like that every word has its pronunciation

I love Yabla.

I've been using since September 2016.I find it to be challenging and fun. Each video has 6 different games to choose from so you never get bored with it. I believe I am on my way to fluency in the Spanish language.
