Good site - but are all IFAs REALLY nearly 5 star rated?
Simple, easy to use people finder site with a decent amount of information on each.
My only very slight criticism is that virtually all independant financial advisers are rated 4.7 to 5 stars.
A bit like nearly everything sold on Amazon.
It makes using the ratings to determine performance largely pointless.
But then I'm as much at fault, having just rated 2 of them at 5 stars (my honest opinion).
Maybe they are all fantastic after all?

You raise a great point.
When we started VouchedFor we anticipated a broader spread of ratings. Mainly because at that time the main review site was TripAdvisor, where you do see a broad spread.
What we found though is that unlike, say, a hotel or restaurant, where people have a brief but emotive experience - which they either love or hate - most clients have a long-standing relationship with their adviser, built on trust. Most clients are very happy and leave 5 star ratings (as you did).
It does leave a challenge in helping people pick the right adviser for them. We try to help with this in a few ways -
1) Enabling users to filter reviews to see those left by people like them. An adviser with lots of experience helping people of a similar age with a similar service may be a better fit, for instance.
2) Enabling users to read reviews left by prospective clients, where you do see a slightly broader spread of ratings.
3) Adding multiple checks and other data points to adviser profiles.
All this said, we've plans to go further and make it even easier for people to find the best adviser for their needs. We have a lot of data on each adviser's strengths and could do more to surface it in a usable way for consumers.

Flawed subscription based service as it does not represent value for a firm, as the reviews are only public for an adviser as long as the individual remains with the company.
If you are a firm considering Vouchedfor for employed advisers be warned you'll lose the reviews for that person as soon as they leave your firm.
Avoid if you are considering Vouchedfor for an employed adviser.

We're so sorry for not being clear enough on this point. We tried to reach out personally but understand it's a busy time of year so will post a reply here instead.
Firms do keep reviews for advisers who leave the firm.
The only exception to this being if the adviser ceases to be verified by us.
The rationale for that is that if the adviser ceases to be subject to our checks and monitoring we can't, with confidence, display their feedback to consumers.
However, we have reviewed this policy and plan to enable firms to retain reviews collected by their ex-advisers, provided the ex-advisers didn't leave the firm for a reason related to poor professional conduct (so that, for instance, a firm isn't displaying feedback for an adviser that we know has had their regulatory permissions removed). This change, when implemented, will work historically.

Great experience (first time buyer mortgage advice)
Lots of expert mortgage advisors, with their credentials and experience clearly shown - which helps you make an informed decision when trying to choose. Some also offer free consultation sessions, which I found helpful in finding a good fit before officially committing. The head office team also gave me a courtesy call after my various consult sessions to see how I got on. Super useful service!

We were in denial of approaching retirement
We were in denial of approaching retirement for years and then quite overwhelmed by the sheer amount of ‘recommended reading’ that was advised at every turn. The best advice we read was to talk to a FCA regulated financial adviser and the best undertaking we did was to book an appointment with Barry Talman.
Barry gave us professional and expert guidance. He was supportive and understanding from the first point of contact. Barry is meticulous, transparent and ensured we fully understood the options available to us. We now have a clear plan of action that we are happy with and we look forward to working with Barry for years to come.

Useful platform but I didn’t get much out of it
I used VouchedFor to be able to find a financial advisor that could help me with my financial situation.
While VouchedFor was a good platform to browse to check the professionals that most suit your needs and goals, all the advisors I spoke with said they could not help me.

We have advisers on the site that can help with most things but it may be that you need to speak to us so we can point you in the right direction. Good recommendation
Used them after a recommendation on MoneySavingExpert. There weren't many recommendations for advisors on my situation but the one I went with was excellent! Read lots of comprehensive reviews too, and the free phone call told me everything I need to know. Would recommend as a starting point to find an advisor for your situation and an initial phone call.
