I was very impressed with the professionalism shown by Adam and the team in marketing and selling my late uncle's Maestro. From my first contact with Trade Classics the whole process was completed in an efficient and supportive manner. As a complete amateur as far as classic cars are concerned, Adam’s advice and guidance was invaluable. He arranged to visit on a Sunday morning and I was surprised at the time and effort put into taking pictures and making videos. The resultant quality of the pictures and videos was exemplary. I have never been involved with a car auction before but I can't imagine there are any more innovative or straightforward auction sites than Trade Classics. As a family we were very satisfied with the price obtained, more than we had ever expected, but more importantly we believe that thanks to Trade Classics the car has gone to a collector who will continue to maintain and enjoy it as much as my uncle did.

Trade classics goes out of their way to instil trust when buying a car through their auction site, and you pay them for the privilege. I took the advert at it's word when buying my classic through them and I confess to being naïve in doing so.

The car that turned up was not like it was described and was dangerous to the point that the majority of the nuts and bolts in this car were only hand tightened meaning that had I not got it checked by an MOT tester the day after it arrived, it could have quite easily come apart while I was driving it.

It had multiple undisclosed faults and hidden problems which is costing me a lot of money to put right and make the car safe to drive and many of these directly contradicted what was written in the advert.

An example of this is the advert stated that the engine had been rebuilt, and where it was true that a lot of the engine did have new parts which made it look shiny and new, when you looked under the surface, it was a different matter, the shell bearings had over 100,000 miles worth of wear on them and was close to causing a major engine failure, not what you would expect on a rebuilt engine. These had to be replaced to fix a horrible knocking.

Of course Trade Classics terms and conditions state that they are not responsible in any way for inaccuracies in their listings, they have their backs covered on that one.

I'm sure there are some lovely cars available through Trade Classics, and I hope that my experience is the exception rather than the rule but please remember if considering bidding on a car on their site, you have no guarantee that the listing is any more honest or correct than one on eBay or Gumtree and that the trust that the site goes out of its way to instil is perhaps unwarranted.

Their site states "8 out of 10 people that buy cars via our service don’t feel the need to visit due to the transparency and thoroughness of our listings."

I highly recommend you be in the 20% who insist the car is thoroughly checked before purchase.

This is a 2* review rather than a 1* review for one simple reason. Before writing this review, I made Kulraj aware of all the problems and the misinformation in the advert.

He was very shocked and apologetic and although I'm still out a lot of money repairing these issues to bring the car up to the level the advert said it was in and make it safe to drive, he said that they will put a process in place to insist that rebuilt cars come with a new MOT before being listed on their site to avoid these issues in the future, hopefully this is true. It doesn't help me, but hopefully it will help future buyers.

I still however recommend that you get an expert to look over any car you are considering buying

Not a great service at all, in fact a bit of a joke all in all.Filled in a form online to get a valuation, also sent 5 pics of my car, 24 hours later came back with a ridicelous Low value, saying it was a Left Hand Drive car which it is not. If they had bothered to look at the pics sent it would have been quite obvious that it was a Right Hand Drive vehicle, covered them selfs by saying they only received one of the pics ???
Not surprising they got it wrong really, as the form does not ask you anywhere near enough information regarding the vehicle you want to sell.
They look up the registration number with DVLA & try & value your car from that.
Not very good at all & when I went back to them made up some flimsy excuse about not getting the valuation right, right could not have been so wrong. I sent them all the relevant info about the car, they obviously took it to heart, not my fault they can't get it right didn't want to sell my vehicle after that.
Very childish & very unprofessional.
So beware you have been warned.

I recently sold my Maserati Quattroporte Sport GTS through Trade Classics. Both Adam and Kulraj were incredibly helpful, knowledgable and professional. Everyone that works at Trade Classics has a genuine passion for cars, and it shows. The valuation guideline was spot on. I went above and beyond preparing my car for sale spending £4,000 on a full service, new brake pads, discs and tyres to ensure the new owner had the best possible car on the market. We made that back on the sale price, so in essence, it gave me a very enjoyable, memorable year of free motoring in a wonderful machine. The best bit was that I wasn't charged a penny for the sale. Only the buyer paid a 5% fee. Kulraj went above and beyond, negotiating a final sale price that was very fair to please both me as the seller and the new buyer as it fitted in their budget. Adam has built up a loyal network of car enthusiasts that follow the auctions. They only accept the best condition of each model and with their extremely thorough due diligence ensure that anyone buying through a TC auction is buying a thoroughly vetted car with complete confidence. I am now hooked on watching new cars come up for auction and already looking to buy my own replacement through Trade Classics. I can't recommend them enough.

Professional photography and video gives buyers confidence along with a detailed description. I would recommend this without any hesitation, definite five star service.

From start to finish a very personal and impressive service. The consignment visit, the care over the photography of the car and documentation and the meet the driver filming was all done with real professionalism. Given my experience as a seller I would not hesitate to go to Trade Classics when I turn buyer again.

Evidemment, tous les contacts sont en anglais mais très chaleureux! Ils vous accompagnent bien et vous conseillent en mettant clairement en avant les points forts et les points faibles du véhicule. Pour moi , cela a été une très bonne expérience (que je renouvellerai avec plaisir si l'occasion un jour se présente) et je suis ravi de ma Jaguar Type E, d'autant que les procédures d'importation sont plus faciles que je ne pensais.
Paul, le vendeur de ma voiture, est un passionné lui aussi, très sympa et accueillant. Merci à lui de tout ce qu'il a fait pour me vendre au final une très belle Jaguar!

Telephone conversations with Kulraj were clear and straightforward. All questions were answered openly.

The large number of high quality photos provided were very comprehensive and invaluable in determining whether a long round trip to view the car would be worthwhile. It was.

One scary issue was the payment of (for me) a huge sum of money for the balance by bank transfer with no tangible record or paper trail.
In the event I did wait until I had possession of the car before sending the transfer. All went well.

Used car salespeople have, in general, a well earned reputation.

However in this case, the whole process was quite exceptional - it was like purchasing a vehicle from a friend. Communication was clear, polite and very efficient. I would recommend Trade Classics to everyone searching for an honest sale.

This is a really professional business - I was super impressed with communications and the actual recording of the car. Adding to that the financial security and levels of integrity that are implicit on both sides pushes many other sites into obsolescence.....

To be honest, I haven't experienced this level of personal contact, sincerity, knowledge and enthusiasm when purchasing a car before and I immediately felt I could and wanted to do business with Adam and the team.
