I'd attended my first Starfury convention last week - the Red Dragon 7 one. Being new, I didn't have much of an idea as to how this would be organised, though I did expect a minimum of clear signs and directions for picking up tickets, as well as the rooms we were supposed to visit according to the schedule provided. Unfortunately this wasn't really the case.

It was difficult to navigate with no clear direction of who was where, and which areas we were supposed to be in. Some members of staff were helpful, most were not, so I would end up having to speak with fellow Hannibal fans about where we were supposed to be. I'm also autistic, so the disorganisation (+no communication for schedule changes) just made everything more stressful than it needed to be.

As for the staffing, I have to say that, as guests, the way we were treated was quite shocking? It was probably what prompted me to write this review in the first place.

I'd volunteered for a stewarding position myself, and so I'd seen first hand how rude these people were. The experienced/regular stewards tended to speak down to confused guests, always responded in an immediately aggressive tone when questions were asked (sometimes muttering/cussing about the interactions right in front of said guests). You were treated as if you were stupid for not knowing where to line up, or what the photo op/autograph procedures were.

Just as a personal example, my sister (like everybody else) had been given an event booklet. Only hers didn't contain her autograph slip, and so she spoke with one of the workers to ask for one. She was answered with condescension. There was no understanding and barely any room for explanations that she hadn't been the one to lose it. It took around 5 minutes of arguing her case for the lady to simply go and grab her a sheet in the end. No kindness or understanding to be seen.

Another problem I have is the lack of ability to take pictures and videos. I don't understand this at all. I remember being rudely spoken to for recording the end of the opening ceremony. It just zaps the fun out of everything when you're reprimanded for trying to keep a few virtual mementos.

All in all, it was an okay time. The Hannibal fans were super kind and so so helpful. I just wish I could say the same for the staff (staff who claimed to have been working Starfury/Red Dragon conventions for years).

I won't outwardly dissuade anyone from attending these events, but I did just want to leave this here to serve as a warning to other newbies who don't know what to expect. I would highly recommend relying on the guests who frequent these events, rather than the stewards on a power trip.

I have been to a number of different conventions over the years and I can honestly say there is nothing quite like a Starfury one. Sean Harry runs a fantastically well organised convention, and you know you are in a safe pair of hands. These are smaller more intimate events where it is easy to make friends with the other attendees over the three days, and you just know the talent enjoy themselves too; you can see they are relaxed and comfortable and have as much fun as we do. It’s also great that so much is included even in the standard package. Once you’ve been to one Starfury event you’ll want to keep coming back for more.

We attended crossroads 10 and we had the best weekend ever, we frequently attended comic cons but this was our first starter event and I’ll admit that this has been the best convention we have ever attended. The organisation and the way they run the con itself is incredible and extremely effective, the atmosphere at the event was something I have never experienced and I felt so grateful to experience such a thing. Starfury most definitely know what they are doing and can put on a fantastic event where they make the guests and the fans feel extremely welcome and at ease. We will most definitely we back!

Great line up of Stargate guests. Wonderful to have a boutique Stargate event! Overall it was organized and well run. A few issues. The microphone placement for questions was horrible. The guests sat in the middle of the stage and having the microphone in the middle meant both the questioners and the person running the area were standing in the way making it impossible to take photos. Please move the microphone to the sides or have a mobile mike that a volunteer takes to someone. Calling for autographs in smaller batches would also be better. Less time in line ups and more time to see the panels. If the guests are sitting, having them in a raised platform on the stage would also help. Hard to see from the regular seats.

OMG, what an amazing event. This was the first Starfury event for Stargate. Simple information and booking process based on 2 ticket types. This is a small intimate con with excellent staff and set up. Strict ticket calling coupled with efficient and effective queue management allows for fotos and autos apps without rushing. There are a couple of meet and greets with panels in the main hall all sensible spaced out and timetabled. Opening and closing ceremonies frame the event along with an initial guest meet setting the scene for the weekend. Fans don't miss a beat in the cosplay competition and the evening discos give you an opportunity to socialise and let your hair down. I really can't praise Sean and his staff enough nor can I truly articulate what a fantastic time I had. Friendships are created across the weekend and everyone keeps in touch through the year. I never thought I'd have global friends, but here I am, booked for next year and having the best time with great people.

I have been attending Starfury events since 2012 and have enjoyed every one that I have gone to. The guests that Sean arranged are awesome, never had a bad experience with one. The convention is well organised and the staff have always been helpful.

This was my first Starfury event, but it won't be my last! Great guest line-up, even with the late shuffles due to work commitments. I liked that the photos were in the am, with the talks and autos in the pm. Something to consider though - I was one of the first regular tickets (my badge # was in the 30s) but I was dead last in getting autos (so I missed more of the Q&As), which felt like a bit of a slap. Perhaps next round you could divide the groups so that regular 1-300 were one group and reg 301-400 went with the gold ticket holders instead?

I went to a convention organised by this organiser last weekend and overall I had a very good time! The organisation of the event was extremely well managed, as was the selection of guests and the opportunities to engage with them. The parties were fun after hours events, although I do think they would have benefited from having themes like at other Starfury events. The value for money was quite good although I did feel that the lack of merchandise did take away a little from the experience. I understand that trade isn't the focus of Starfury Conventions but perhaps giving attendees the opportunity to browse collectibles or even to allow artists to trade at the cons might be a nice addition. It would also be nice to perhaps have some workshops (maybe ones run by volunteer attendees) that tie into the show for people to attend during their downtime.

One of the things I would say that as efficient and dedicated as the staff were at this con, I think some were a bit militaristic in their enforcement of the rules. I understand why phones are not allowed near the tables however, I did feel that shouting at people and demanding that they delete things (even when they might have just been looking at something on their phones) was a bit intense. Even then I think there is a way to approach someone who is breaking a rule that is firm but respectful. This is something I feel some of the staff need to work on.

This was the first Starfury event that my husband & I have attended. It was by far better than any other convention we have attended over the years.

It was so well run. The venue was ideal. Everyone was welcoming, from hotel staff to Starfury staff, nothing was too much for them. We volunteered to be stewards during the convention which we have never done before, it’s a great way to meet other attendees.

We have already booked for Ascension 2 next year. We will also be attending Warp 1 in October.

It was my first Starfury event and I had heard good things from friends who had been to previous Starfury events.
Well it lived up to the hype!

It’s a smaller/mid sized con, so do not expect something out of the Excel centre.

They also are big on ID tied to tickets, photos and Autos to ensure they are used by the correct person. A little different in that guests do not have 8x10’s to choose from, if you buy an auto you select your photo on registration and it acts as your proof of an Auto. Regular ticket holders who have Auto’s included can purchase an 8x10 or have something signed. At first I found this odd, but quickly found it actually worked! You didn’t need to worry about a slip of paper, or scanners not reading a QR code, like I’d had at other events.
Tickets come in regular and gold flavours, with autos of all regular guests included in the regular ticket and Gold getting bonus guests included. This meant every ticket holder got along with their programme a tick off sheet of who they needed.

The talks were well organised and in a spacious hall.

The staff in the autograph/photo areas were fantastic, like a well oiled machine. Even in the longer queue for the star guests they had water available and brought it about. If you needed the toilet they would let you nip out and for those with mobility issues they held a spot in the queue for them!

The whole atmosphere was like a big family and had a similar but better vibe to some other cons I had been to (that no longer exist so this fills the void)

I’ve already bought a ticket for the next one! It’s so good to have another Stargate con out there!

I attended Ascension which was the first Stargate convention Starfury has put on. It was amazing to meet all the guests especially RDA!! It was very well organised in comparison to other conventions I've been to. I think my only negative would be the lack of vendor or merch stalls to browse or buy from in between photo's and autographs. It was okay for me & my partner as we hadn't met any of the actors attending but there was still a couple hours in between to try to fill.

Been doing cons since 2007. Every Starfury I've been to has been awesome. Seeing everyone's smiling faces after the photos is priceless to see this day and age. Just having fun is what is all about. Forget all about the outside world for a few days is what we need.

I'm sure I'm echoing other reviews, but suffice to say Starfury conventions are the best organised, and well managed events. Guests are amazing and always seem to feel welcomed and well looked after.

First real convention I’ve been to, and it was pretty well organised. All the stewards that were present were lovely and approachable if I had any questions, and the overall experience was genuinely enjoyable from start to finish. (Ascension)

Fabulously organised conventions. Very friendly organisers and attendees. Totally enjoyable experience. I’ve been to 7 now and am planning another for next year.

I had never heard of Starfury until 2017 and have been going ever since then, the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful and for the first time I volunteered this year at Crossroads 10 and I have to say it was a fabulous experience and just shows how much work Sean Harry and his staff put into every event not just this one. Best and the only convention I will ever go to.

I consider myself to be a convention veteran now as i have attended cons since *the company that shall not be named* A12 - A18 then when that company went to the fritz in comes mr sean harry with *Crossroads* phew says we - this sounds brilliant. Since then we have been to every Crossroads! The whole weekend from start to finish is amazin! The staff especially access team are amazin and wonderfull i cannot express how helpful they are. When we attended crossroads 8 we got a call late sat stating my mum had taken a turn for the worst so sun morning myself an my daughte rflew round for autos an to pick up photos. My friend who was stewarding went into superhero mode an collected said photos for me and we rushed home to falkirk. We lost mum a week later. The crossroads family are just that...a family...2 of our friends even came to mums funeral which was really appreciated. Fast forward to crossroads 10 - we wer taking our elderly aunt on the yearly jaunt to Nairn and it fell on Crossroads dates - sooo unhappy. Alas our aunt got the dread news that she had *C* and fell ill 4 weeks before crossroads and insisted we go - there was about 18 tix left and i hadnt even applied for access!! 😱😳 panic mode - got the tickets an emailed helen and everything sorted with 2 weeks to go - Bloody Brilliant as Ron weasley would say. Was a very emotional event as we should have been on holiday with our aunt but e erythi g as per usual went to plan - we met up with all our friends and really enjoyed the event....even mishas secret gathering hahahaha which was hillarious! Panels photos all were amazin....missed autos this time as we were out for dinner so will do that next Apr 👍🤩

Brilliant. We have been to 6 conventions so far and have tickets to Enchanted 6, Crossroads 11, then Highlanders 9.
Im disabled and couldn't manage a huge convention, but these are perfect.
The way they set up the convention over the main 2 days means you will miss nothing. The panels are brilliant and the next day they are reversed in order so you can see them all and get your autographs too. With photos in the morning. It's definitely worth going Gold if you can for the Friday night meet & greet, plus extra autographs included as even the standard ticket has some autographs free.

I've been to a lot of events and I highly recommend them. There's always amazing guest to meet and a change o make new friends with the same interests.

Starfury Crossroads was my first ever convention and I have been to each one ever since.
Very well organised! Staff always on hand to help guise you or if you have any questions.
Most Stewards are very knowledgeable (obviously have experience) I have also been a steward and tried to be as helpful as possible.
They are strict with the rules of no video or audio recording (which is in the contract for all guests) to help them feel more relaxed and open to share. Take all the pics you want!
The panels are good and mostly good questions are asked.
The prices for what you get are a bargain. There is no pressure to buy extras and recently they have added a small merch stall.
The Supernatural fan base has always been welcoming and kind in my experience.
Sean is great at replying in the Facebook groups considering his schedule and running his business.

Alot of queueing, but that how it goes with conventions.
The parties are fun and the cos plays look amazing!
