The most complicated set up process imaginable.

The software keeps asking for iLok keys etc.....

The downloads are VERY VERY slow....would take several days to download the entire library even on a fast connection

Sadly i signed up for a year.

Was subscribed for 24 months waiting for opus which they delayed for years so put up with horrible outdated library. Opus was the same garbage. How do $49 spitfire strings sound better than a library that you have been working on for 5 years? Shameful.

Outdated sounds like it's before 2000. The worst company that makes virtual instruments. I suggest you use Spitfire Audio Originals. You pay 29,99 $ for one instrument, it sounds great, and what the best, it's not a subscription model! They have strings, brass, pianos, and a lot of new libraries coming soon. I mean, what are you waiting for? Cancel this East-West nothing, and invest in Something!

PROS
*For an entry-level string library, their orchestral samples tend to sound and perform well.
*QL Spaces is a good-sounding reverb, albeit not working at times.

CONS
*I've been a customer since 2016. With some exceptions that I appreciate, their customer service has been unfair and unhelpful. E.g. at one point, they were billing me twice per month and did not want to refund me. Only after much time and help from my lawyer did they fix the issue and return the extra charges. They prefer short-term profit above customer satisfaction and loyalty. This is the biggest reason I suggest steering clear of them.
*Their ComposerCloud plan is overpriced and misleading. If you try it, be sure to turn off auto-renew immediately after your purchase and just use it this way as (if) needed.
*Their Play engine is notoriously glitchy and slow - their updates never seem to fix this.
*A good number of sample libraries are poor in recorded quality and playability.

Was interested in the hollywood choir sampler/synth and was upsold to the subscription. I didnt bother looking i thought everything would be of quality however it is not worth 200$ most of it loops, how are these even applicable to a subscription model?. I messed up here but make sure to look at what your buying as this right here, is most likely not what you are looking for. I dont understand how godamn big the library files are for the amount of loops contained herein. They also do not refund. Pass.

I had high hope for this, but the samples are basic and rather outdated. The player is really long in the tooth and compared to new sample players, it's left in the dust.
I signed up and now in a 1-year plan that the company refuses to refund or cancel.

I recently purchased the Composer Cloud monthly subscription and found it to be what I expected. The learning was quite easy and took me several days to get a feel for everything. There are still a few glitches I need to figure out but those usually resolve quickly.

Customer service has been ok so far. I was reading the horror stories from other users in regards to customer service and did not experience any problems..... yet? Despite the bad reviews from other customers I went ahead and tried the subscription only. No problems so far. I give it a B grade thus the 4/5 stars.

WAY overpriced for the 2nd-rate samples they 'hawk. To purchase, they send you to Soundsonline – a dodgy bug-infested 'http' site. HTTP! In 2020? How insecure is that? For the amount of money they charge, you'd think they'd have a little class. If you haven't bought from them yet – DON'T. I bought the Platinum range – and they sent it in a Gold box because they "didn't have a Platinum box left". Why? Tells you everything you need to know about the company, and their idea of quality.

Very good quality for this price.

I bought bunch of their top of the line products from them, like most of them. As being less of an engineer and not having current knowledge about midi and stuff (old school), not knowing other companies or just simply not knowing any better. I trusted their demos, thinking, slowly I'll get there. Some of the sounds are ok, but user interface lacks what most of the competitors have, like visual easy to assign, expression, modulation, vibrato, etc... (something I did not realize that would be industry standard as I didn't know much about anything)
Maybe I don't know how but it is not easy to make their Hollywood strings diamond edition sound realistic, although after getting more familiar with their products (practice makes perfect) I did have some decent results going through painful learning curve, as the confusing interface and lack of explanation makes their player hard to use. Not sure if it's me but some of their samples sound out of tune. Lot of them don't have enough gain in them as it seems to me. Their tech support is live during the hours, and very quick but all they do is point you to pdf user manual, kind of making me feel as I don't know what I am doing so what do I expect. I do have to say their choirs are great, with world builder really excellent imho.

Walkthrough videos are kind fast paced and not detailed. Kind of like they don't really want you to find out how to use this, or if you are pro, you will know all the missing details already. While playing you stunning sounding demos but not even clue how they were made or how you can make it sound like that.

That's when I discovered Spitfire. What a difference, I did spend money on couple of libraries, (lot less money) but they have full support with walkthrough videos and how to make it sound good, also already made templates with instruments mapped out in very professional manner, lot of stuff I have learned in very short time. Every dime I spent with Spitfire was worth it. Their tech support is not live and slow, but amount of info you can get from videos available will most likely answer your questions, including showing you how to compose soundtracks from scratch. I am very happy with Spitfire, their symphonic orchestra sounds professional right out of the box without any treatment, and they share so much knowledge, for the beginner like me, it's the best investment in sample libraries I ever made. Their website is amazing with very comprehensive training available for free.

I also bought some 8dio strings, kind of ok, user interface excellent, and also have decent walkthrough videos. I don't know many others.

I'm livid with this company. I signed up to what I believed was one month and then they said I had to pay for a years subscription. After a few months, I removed all my payment details yet they still kept charging me. I haven't used this for a year and I've just checked my bank statement to discover they're charging me for a 2nd year's subscription. I can't even login when requesting a new password there's no email received. I'm shocked by this company I've never experienced anything like this from a music software company it's scandalous. I might add I wasn't impressed by the sample library at all, hence my discontinuing. I have no other option but to cancel my bank card.

Bought a bundle from them and it sounded absolutely terrible. EW refused to give me my money back. Do not ever buy anything from them. They just take your money and forget you exist.

This is the best company providing the best sounding sampled instruments I have ever seen. I have Komplete 12 and I do not feel like using the cumbersome Kontakt anymore. They also have the best reverbs in the world. Just be sure you understand they're contract before you buy, this is why many people here are unhappy, which is not Easwest fault at all. I feel nothing but love and gratitude for Eastwest Sounds.

Fu...... husters, I've bought a reactivation code for my triple play, but can't download my teaser packer once more, so now I`ve spent 40 bucks on nothin, thanks a lot :-(((((((((((((

I should have read reviews before purchase. very deceptive with subscription/ They take your money even though you pay for 1 month, it keeps on charging you, and you don't get your money back. BEWARE! it's a great product, horrible customer service and very deceptive when purchasing....

I've had a good experience with the service support. But most products are very old. The 25th anniversary edition stuff is close to useless, very old and sounds cheap. The Hollywood Series have some good qualities but the playability and interface are awkward. Hollywood Pop Brass, Hollywood Choirs and Hollywood Percussion are great. The Spaces II convolution reverb is amazing. The good point; NKS compatibility makes it faster to browse sounds. I have no bug with the collections in Live on my WIndows 10 64gb RAM i7 Quad 3.8. Too expensive when 3/4 of the stuff is too old and not installed.

Also Gypsy, Silk and RA have some good qualities.

Not a scam but still a deception. New things must be added to make it great again. EW lives a bit on their past reputation. They show reviews that are 15 years old at times...

These people are vultures. The devices are entirely outdated and never updated. The sounds are mediocre at best, with only a few of them actually worth the hours upon hours it takes to download. They will not let you cancel your membership no matter what you do or what circumstances are going on in your life. They are all about money and nothing else. Adobe lets you cancel membership and says they hope you become a return customer. Well for Adobe I am, but for EastWest, I will NEVER be a customer again. They are shameful and I recommend you not to waste your time and money on them.

Such a money grab with outdated, dull and boring sounds! Dont ever go to a subscription plan or buying anything from them!!

I just purchased EW 'Hollywood Gold' bundle. The install is incredibly painful due to lack of clear install procedures and it's relation to iLok. They provide a sheet of 'instructions' which list 3 steps. Prompts are not intuitive and depending on which step of the process you're at the data asked for are called by different names!
So now, I have to wait for their support team to assist BEFORE I can even use the software.
