I would be lost without Shirley Aquatics just down the road. I visit weekly to get all the food I need for our various reptiles. I’ve had many vivariums and terrariums built by the talented Nigel and team. I recommend Shirley Aquatics to anyone needing fish, fish supplies, reptiles or reptile supplies. Also the staff are so helpful with any questions you may have about your pets health and wellbeing. I can’t speak highly enough about them.

Been here a few times now, Staff are very polite and helpfull. We went to enquire about reptiles.
We spoke with a gentleman called Nigel, what an absolute credit to the company! He is VERY knowledgeable and very helpful!
What an absolute star!!

This place is great we go regularly to buy koi, live feed, fish food or anything we need for our fish or reptiles. I will not buy reptiles or koi from any other place now. Nigel is amazing and has helped us so much with our pets and has past his great knowledge onto my family to help give our pets the best care possible. He was fantastic with my daughter’s axolotl ( purchased elsewhere) when it was extremely poorly Nigel treated him and made him better then he was and was there to help when we finally had to say goodbye to him. Nigel is always on hand to help and is lovely and friendly. Never had a problem with anything we have purchased from here. Highly recommend. It’s a great place.

As a reptile owner I have found that the staff at Shirley Aquatics Reptiles to be extremely knowledgeable, polite and very committed to ensuring you get exactly what you need for the best interest of your animal. Nigel, the reptile supervisor, has gone above and beyond for me and others that I know of many times. I really could not praise the team highly enough. Fantastic customer service and a very friendly environment make this my one stop shop for my reptiles.

I have 5 geckos which i got 4 of them from here. Nigel and Charlie are absolutely legendary! Wouldn't trust going anywhere else but them for all my reptiles needs and care

Made another visit to one of my favourite places this weekend and, as usual, left very happy. The range of fish is excellent - there is always so much to choose from. Staff are friendly, yet very professional, and always go the extra mile to give support or advise when it is needed. Thanks so much to all of the staff for taking such good care of the livestock, for being knowledgeable and for making each visit a definite 10/10 experience.

I’ve been using Shirley Aquatics for around 5 years now and have never found it anything other than brilliant.

I’ve had thorough and direct advice on animal husbandry, concise and unbiased reviews of pond pumps and filters, and have always been impressed with the range of products and fish available.

I see a lot of comments about customers not being allowed to ‘take their fish out of the tanks’ or ‘handle the animals’ - good. It’s not a petting zoo.

The staff have bags of real world experience, too. Ron in the Koi section is a multi award winning Koi keeper and I’ve always found his advice sound.

We wanted to spruce up our Tortoise's enclosure and received some great advice from the team on the reptile department. We bought a plant named 'Tortoise Weed'. The friendly advisor told us it was like chocolate for Tortoises and our tort wouldn't be able to get enough of it. Sure enough, when we got the plant home, Fred couldn't stop eating it. We've definitely found a new favourite. By securing it slightly higher than his reach, the plant can now grow in the enclosure and provide a tasty treat for Fred. Wouldn't hesitate to reccomend!

I went there and purchased some fish and a tank, I was very impressed. Really helpful people. Can't recommend it enough. We'll be going back for more soon!! Thanks guys! :-)

I have been using Shirley Aquatics for over 30 years now, and as someone who has kept marine and tropical fish for more than three decades, I can confidently say that my knowledge and use of local suppliers is crucial. I first used Shirley Aquatics when they were located on Stratford Road in Shirley, before they moved to Beckett’s Farm in Wythall nearly 10 years ago.

I have always found the staff to be helpful, and I have had positive experiences with all my fish purchases. My most recent project was a new Discus Planted Aquarium. I bought the tank with special features, and the staff guided me through the entire process, including delivery and assembly in my home. I then purchased 10 large Stendker Discus, which were of outstanding quality. With Stendker closing down, I feel fortunate to have them.

Shirley Aquatics supplies me with everything I need and more! I highly recommend them.

Heard great things about Shirley Aquatics. Was driving past from Scotland to Devon and was looking forward to stopping off. I keep tropical fish an Koi and the fish were mediocre at best. Very few plants and a lot of the tanks needed a good clean. Didn't buy any Koi!!! A lot of work needed to improve their reputation.

Great store but staff could do with customer service training. They seem unwilling to help, they just ignore you so very rude.

Went today to buy a new aguarium..saw what I wanted and left my friend by it when I went to the office. One man there just seeing to a man and his son. I said can I ask you something when you've finished 15 minutes later I was still waiting in the meantime he was seeing to two more customers he completely ignored me when I went to him and said I have been waiting. Has he got a thing about not serving disabled senior ladies????his attitude stunk. Wish I took his name. Short with a bald head. Has lost a sale of £700. .hope it was worth it

They are young girls with no manners at all! Over priced. Staff really let this place down! A smile and manners cost nothing!!!

I sold all of my pond stuff some years ago but decided to start again ,I visited Shirley Aquatics on a really busy day.
Despite being busy I had no problem getting advice on 4 occasions and even though I had no intention of purchasing that day the various staff members were still happy to take time explaining various items and queries.
I accidentally dropped a credit card ,work ID and a Garden centre gift card ,I called first thing next day to find they had been found by a member of staff and put in a safe place for collection.
I have made some online enquiries regarding their prices and found them extremely good.
PS I will have no hesitation in purchasing my pond requirements from here when ready.

Maybe i went on a bad day? Staff seemed very reluctant to speak with me and i felt quite ignored. Theres obvious issues with cockroach infestation, difficult to look at aquarium plants when ten roaches are crawling all over the glass. Appreciate this is a centre selling live bait and is warm and humid but cockroach traps i saw looked very old and disused.

Ordered blanketweed treatment and fish food yesterday on standard 3-5 day delivery. All arrived today, very well wrapped and after good communication (fish food size ordered was out of stock but substituted with two smaller to match). Cannot fault the service and efficiency here.

I recently bought some tropical plants for my new aquarium only to find a few days later that my tank had been infested with snails and when I inquired about it in store, they where NOT surprised at ALL, so I think they where already aware of this upon the sale of them and their only solution was to buy a fish from them that may eat them.

I visited the Reptile centre today, at Shirley Aquatics, to seek some guidance regarding how best to care for two geckos I had recently taken on. I was blown away by the friendly, helpful support I was given. Both Nigel and Teagan gave me fantastic advice and dedicated so much time, to not only checking my geckos were healthy, but also answering all of my many, many questions as I had never cared for geckos before. The customer service was outstanding and they are both clearly very knowledgeable when it comes to reptiles. I left feeling incredibly happy and confident that I know how best to ensure my geckos are both happy and healthy.

years I've visited here becaude they cared about fish welfare. Well now they are prioritising profits over fish welfare. Cannot believe how the beta are being kept in tiny little cups to cram as many as possible into the tank. You should be ASHAMED. sat lifeless on the stones in their prisons.
What message does this send fish keepers about how to house this species? You are disgusting I will Never visit this place again and I will be spreading the word around my husbandry circles.
