Nothing but problems!
Nothing but problems!! Don’t believe this company check the quality of the cars they buy in properly. I bought a 3 year old vehicle and honestly I have found loads of faults with it. The navigation system doesn’t work, the cup holder insert was missing, the car has issues with its discs and the door panel is coming off from the inside!! This car was not cheap and it’s giving me nothing but bother since day one. Customer service has been pretty shoddy too. Basically all the issues are my fault, despite only having the car a month and telling them from the second day about most of the faults. The others have only occurred more recently but certainly not down to my use of the vehicle. Really wouldn’t bother with the company. We will never use them again that’s for sure. Boucher road specifically with regard this review.
Cheated out of £6,000 grant
I bought a Mg5 long range in Sept 21. I paid for it in cash. I found out in October there was an affinity grant of £6,000 available for certain groups of workers. Suited me. Grant finished at the end of September. The salesman never told me about the grant. Cheated out of £6,000.
The salesman told me it was advertised. I should've looked.. What a horrible company. I will never do business with them again
Terrible customer service
From when I arrived at SERE Motors Belfast searching for my first brand new car and first time using finance I received help which was great. Although being a young adult in my early 20’s instead of the car salesperson addressing me they addressed my mother who accompanied me after multiple times of making it clear that I am the one purchasing the car and I am dealing with everything I was still treated like a child and my mother was spoken to rather than myself. Where my mother also made it clear this is for me and not herself.
When on the day of going and picking the car up the first question I got was “where is your mum? Is she not coming” not even a hello or are you looking forward to getting the car? I responded “no she is working and it is my car and I am paying for it” and the response that I received really changed my mind on how the service I received was when she replied saying “we can just wait for her to come and collect it with you instead” which I repeatedly said no and repeatedly got a reply of “are you sure”. Left me feeling like I was being spoken to like a child. This car buying experience had nothing to do with my mother at all she was there to look around with me to possibly get ideas in the future for herself.
Competent and Professional.
My car was leased from this dealer via our MOTABILITY SCHEME.
I've found ALL the staff from receptionists, salespeople and Service Engineers who collected and returned the vehicle (serviced, washed and vaccumed) the same day as promised and have NEVER had cause to complain about anything from purchasing onwards thus far!
Depreciation Peugeot 2008
I bought my Peugeot 2008, 7 weeks ago from sere lisburn and just picked it up the day before I buried my brother, I then contracted covid and was unable to do much for the first month of having my new vehicle. I was happy with it and have been driving it now for the last 3 weeks and have realised that the car is not suitable for my disability needs as in getting in and out and gets very uncomfortable if driving any distance, the electronic gearbox laggs and could be dangerous in low gears, there is also a knocking coming from the front drivers side.
I booked an appointment to go back today to see if we could come to an arrangement to swap the car for another but to my disgust my vehicle has been valued £4k less than what I paid for it. I am very disappointed as I was expecting to take a loss but not to this degree. The vehicle is going to be booked in tomorrow to have this knocking sound sorted.
I would like to think that SERE will get back in touch and possibly review their offer.

Extremely disappointed as to how we…
Extremely disappointed as to how we have been treated, no true care for their customers and sadly due to experience our advice would be to stay well clear of this company.
We bought a car from Sere Belfast in May. It had problems which we were unaware of when buying the car, resulting in it having to go into the garage at least 8 times over the first 6 months. Sere were very helpful at the start, sending the car to Volvo Belfast due to them being unable to diagnose the problem and giving us a courtesy car on SOME occasions. However, the sweetness changed and sadly we got to see what they are truly like as a company. There was a rattle in the car which was said to be the EGR valve and turbo. Volvo changed both and after this our car started to put out black smoke. Bernard, the manager at Sere Belfast insisted that the black smoke was normal and seemingly he has a car at home that puts out black smoke!!! Thankfully, we were persistent and eventually Volvo found what the problem was. Sere phoned us and said that they couldn’t pay the full bill because the car was out of warranty, even though we flagged the issue up under warranty. The bill was £1100 and Bernard said out of good will they were going to pay some of the bill, with us only having to pay £250. When we were persistent that we shouldn’t have to pay anything because we flagged the problem up under warranty, Bernard then changed the story and stated that we had to contribute towards the bill because a DPF is not covered under their warranty. We argued that the DPF cracked due to the work that had been done on our car with the EGR valve, making it clear that the black smoke only started when this was fitted. Bernard informed us that Volvo had not clarified that the DPF cracked because of an underlying problem with the EGR valve and therefore there was no evidence to say what caused the problem. According to Bernard, Volvo would have to carry out further tests to see what was wrong or else they would have to get an external company to state what caused the DPF to crack. We believed Bernard, trusting that he would treat his customers in an honest and fair manner. He told us, if we didn’t pay our car would just sit in the garage until we did. We felt that we had no option but to pay the £250 because we were left without a car for 2.5weeks, with Sere no longer offering us a courtesy car. They didn’t seem to care that my wife was left without a car, having a sick baby who needed to attend hospital appointments at RVH. This was not the only occasion when they didn’t give us a courtesy car, seemingly on another occasion they didn’t have any courtesy cars for us even though we informed them that we would need one over 2 weeks in advance. Not sure how they expect us to believe this!
After we paid the £250, I demanded the receipt of work done by Volvo Belfast. This is when they started to ignore our emails and phone calls. Eventually Bernard phoned me, refusing to give me the bill, until I persisted for several days. When refusing to give me the bill he told me stories such as, being unable to give me the bill due to it having other customer details on it. In the end, it all came to light that this was false information. When I finally got Volvo Belfast’s receipt, I found out that Volvo had paid half of the £1100, so Sere were only left with £250 to pay. I noticed on the receipt, Volvo had clearly stated that the cracked DPF was due to a faulty EGR which they had fitted. This is what hurts us the most because Bernard had clearly told us on numerous occasions that Volvo had not informed him as to what had caused the DPF to crack when the truth is they had. To treated your customers in a dishonest manner, using this to force them into paying a bill is totally unacceptable and very hurtful. We have asked for a refund due to us being deceived into paying a bill that Bernard knows we should not have had to pay. He is not only refusing to give us the money but is continuing to ignore our emails and phone calls. We are far from satisfied customers and the truth is that Sere don’t care. They’ve got their money and that’s all they care about.
Avoid them
I bought a Mercedes and it was a nightmare from start to finish. It was back repeatedly for the same faults and not fixed, despite a years warranty being purchased. I was told it had a full service history from Mercedes.....false. I was told it was one owner from new, even on my receipt......false. Their solution was to offer me almost 6 grand less to buy it back, which I refused. They then ignored my emails until eventually referring me to their solicitor.
Believe it or not
Believe it or not, this has just happened to me this week. Bought an Audi A6 from SERE Lisburn in February 2020. Car has been back in a garage 5 times since then, 3 times with the same fault. Three times the car has been fixed under the year’s warranty. The Audi has a dangerous, intermittent issue that causes the car to go into limp mode. I supplied SERE with video evidence of this occurring, however both SERE and Audi have been unable to get the fault to reproduce. For the last 5+ weeks I’ve been driving a courtesy car from SERE. This had to be returned yesterday. Everyone within SERE (including the MD) is aware of the dangerous nature of this fault, although they’ve been unable to reproduce it. The Sales Director, who I appreciate is operating with the parameters given to him has given me two options: 1. Trade the car in (for £4000 less than the finance amount outstanding) and buy another car (morally I can’t trade the vehicle in elsewhere) 2. Take back a car that’s clearly a danger to myself, my family and other road users - which SERE are fully aware of. Also explained to the Service Manager that, after speaking to my Insurance Broker, there could be implications on my insurance cover as I know the car is unsafe. Left the courtesy car back yesterday under instruction, obviously couldn’t drive away in a dangerous car, so was forced walked away with no transport, and no resolution in sight. Absolutely shameful - genuinely hope that this doesn’t happen to any other potential SERE customer.
