Avoid

We purchased a 3 year old Audi eTron from SERE in June 2024. The car went into limp mode and was undriveable 4 months after purchasing. SERE initially cooperated and had our car towed away for diagnostics. We were then told that they could not definitively diagnose the fault, but that it was either the wiring loom (£4500) or the motor (£7500) and that SERE would not cover the cost of repair of either as the car was purchased from them more than 3 months ago. This was incorrect advice, not in line with the Consumer Rights Act.

Following advice from Trading Standards, we issued a letter to SERE confirming that they were liable for 100% of the cost of repairs. SERE informed us that we’d been wrongly advised and started negotiating what they/we should pay. We had purchased an extended warranty from SERE at the time of purchase: this was sold to us as 2 years of worry free motoring, but the reality was that this would only cover up to £2000. They informed us that they would use this warranty for £2k of repairs and split the difference for the remainder of the cost. We refused this as legally they were 100% liable.

After 9 weeks of arguing (and being left with no courtesy car for half of that), they finally agreed to cover the costs and our car was ‘repaired’. It broke down on the way home from the garage.

We moved to reject the car at this point and after more stress and multiple attempts at contact, we received a refund (minus costs for usage) one week later.

I would advise anyone dealing with issues with a SERE car to take advice on what your rights are under the Consumer Act as they provided incorrect advice throughout. Calls were mostly ignored, email responses were very slow. All in all, a very stressful experience.

Selling cars with Mileage blockers be warned

Bought a car 1 year old car at over £51,000 pounds with what we thought had an extended warranty. 11 months later the car developes a fault, took it to Audi for warranty work who disclosed the car had non Audi wiring and a mileage blocker fitted. Sere has accepted responsiblity but refuses to refund us. Don't trust Sere motors as they do not adhere to the consumer rights act 2015, nor do they care for the stress they are causing us. Legal action now has to be taken.

Very ignorant staff

Been on the Belfast premises twice in 3 days, have to walk through their office to get onto forecourt and not one member of the 6 staff I counted could lift their head to greet or even acknowledge potential customers coming in. All very busy on their computers. There were more staff than customers, so not sure why they’d not attempt to even sell a car.
2 cars of interest, nobody came near us and I sure as hell wasn’t going in to get them out and earn a commission for doing nothing.
Same again in leaving, no thanks, no “did you see anything” or “anything I can help with”,
Cars themselves are pretty filthy inside, which is helpful to see how the previous owners kept them and give an indication of how they’ve been looked after 🤷🏻‍♂️
All in all, went elsewhere to buy the same car as I’d begrudge giving them any kind of deal.

5 Star service with a friendly smile

My first time buying a car for myself and the staff could not have been more helpful and patient. Spoke to me and took me through everything in a friendly, welcoming manner, making the entire process less stressful and much more enjoyable. A fantastic selection of cars, very reasonable prices. I'll definitely recommend to others.

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making the car-buying process smooth and stress-free. They had a good selection of vehicles, and the team was helpful in answering all my questions. I bought an Audi q7 at over £40000 and…

I bought an Audi q7 at over £40000 and paid £1000 for an extra 6 months warranty I was told that it would be serviced and check before delivery It arrived the heater did not work after a number of visits to Lisburn and the car going to another garage this problem was partially fixed it may be the q7 have a poor heating system. recently any engine warning light came on, they could not look at this for over two weeks and in the meantime, I could use the buss. I lift with concussion that once the money is their bank, they do not want to know you

I have had an MG hs brand new from sere…

I have had an MG hs brand new from sere for almost 3 years now and have had nothing but bother with it, anytime it's left if for repair or service it's been a nightmare, staff are very ignorant and extremely unhelpful, never want to do anything to help, they never have parts in Stock for any repair, even a simple thing like a hose, parts take up to 3-4 days to arrive, anytime I have a question they come across as if they are being interrogated and turn nasty, the workmanship from the mechanics is shoddy and, it's like a back alley garage, cannot wait until I hand the car back, will never deal with sere after that. Avoid if you do not want hassle...

£28k Range Rover

I purchased a Range Rover to the tune of £28k, at first having received excellent customer service from the sales rep David Gaw. 4 months later DPF issues, they held the car for over 4 months as there was ‘no part’, longer than I had driven the car for. My car has depreciated in value significantly sitting in their yard. In this situation you would expect the company to go out of their way to accommodate you however this was unfortunately not the case and I am left out of pocket. AVOID.

NO MORE CHARLES HURST FOR ME SERE BOUCHER ROAD FROM NOW ON

Bought my mg gs from another dealer as never thought buying mg. The dealership used didnt fix my car right used sere bodytech couple times when my vauxhall needed repaired so called sere boucher road see could fix my abs sensor fault. No issue at all. Nicole service department was amazing towards me and so helpful.i also had two punctures and that was sorted as well. Very fast repair and not expensive compared to what use to get charged at charles hurst who rip me off all the time.

Car was fixed and collected by lunch time i even took at two year serivce plan and also do my mot for me.

I wont be using charles hurst ever again sere motors for me also when getting a new car be going here. Thanks again to nicole and mechinic who sorted my mg gs for me.

AVOID

Both myself and my husband have bought our cars from SERE Lisburn. However his car developed an electrical fault last week and despite having a 2-year purchase warranty with the car and being only 11-months into that warranty, they have had his car now for 5-days awaiting warranty permission to fix it with no end in sight. There has been no communication from SERE and it is my husband who is having to do all the contacting. We live in a rural area and as my husband works evening shifts I have had to lend him my car and I am having to try and get buses, trains and lifts to an area that doesn't have transport links! My 74-year old mother is having to run around after me. This is just not good enough. I would be very reluctant to buy another car off this company! Not good enough SERE. Simply not good enough!!!

Still waiting SERE! Really not good enough .....

I traded my car in with sere lisburn…

I traded my car in with sere lisburn they were highly recommended. My car 13yr old 65000 odd miles serviced every year with slight damage front bumper and back I was told because of that it lowered price as bumpers need replaced to be sold. £2000 odd to trade mine, I've now found my old car another dealer damage still both bumpers and being sold for over £6000 so I knew miles helped and not body work as selling it at that price when I was told it would need fixed to sell. Just warn I was told sere are very fair and give best deal. I've learned by my mistake would it put me off them no but I'll not be taking their word if ever deal with them again. Miles do matter when it comes to selling as I've just found and when car looked after apart from bodywork which didn't matter as wasn't replaced neither bumpers.

The good and the bad laid bare!

I've been a customer of SERE for 4 or 5 years now, bought 2 cars from them and I have to say the experience was positive, had both cars regularly serviced by SERE and the work seemed to be carried out in a competent and professional manner, even the storeman was exceptionally helpful when I needed his help so no complaints so far. I have spent many tens of thousands of ££££'s at SERE. That's the end of the good, now for the bad and the reason for 3 stars rather than 5. The service reception staff are unhelpful to the point of being unpleasant, this has been my experience in the past when I had put it down to someone having a bad day but it continues even to my most recent visit, today in fact. You deal with the salesmen once, the stores personnel occasionally but the service reception people ...often, they are, to a great degree the face of the company, unfortunately they do not do their company justice.

Sold me a faulty low mileage car

Sold me a dodgy low mileage car that has given me nothing but grief from day 1. Upon picking car up the parcel shelf was damaged and tyre repair kit missing. The wipers were also leaving large streaks. Did not show me how to work the car at all. Did not even show me how to pair my Bluetooth. Minimal effort from the salesman. Said they would replace parcel shelf but never did due to BREXIT apparently. Mercedes was able to source one within 5 days. Very poor after sales. Once they have your money they don't want to know. Got so fed up with the car I asked them to buy it back from me. Offered me a ridiculous price for minimal usage and the used car market has increased in price substantially. So much so I traded the car in elsewhere for more than I paid. Had the car back to Mercedes on 5 separate occasions and they still couldn't fix some of the problems. 8-9 separate faults developed within 3 months of ownership. SERE manager said there was nothing wrong with my car because Mercedes couldn't find the multiple intermittent electrical faults. How arrogant to say that after selling me a car that was not fit for purpose or of satisfactory quality. If you want to do business with a company that acts with honesty and integrity then AVOID SERE.

SERE - will never use again

I wish to relay we had excellent customer service from front desk at SERE, our issue is with the SERE service faults. My Ssangyong Tivoli was initially diagnosed in September 2022 with a crankshaft sensor fault. We purchased a sensor and clutch kit from SERE and this fitted at the time by a fully qualified mechanic. The fault remained showing up on diagnostic as crankshaft sensor.
We didnt to get it reviewed and serviced at SERE in December 2022. SERE told us it could have been a faulty sensor supplied but when they serviced they car they said it was a fuel problem and the sensor was not checked. We paid over £900 on parts and service with cost of a fuel system flush. The vehicle run ok for a few weeks but the problem returned with it juddering and showing as a crankshaft sensor fault.
Our issue is that SERE remain to say it was fuel in a diesel car and they would check the car again, I did not proceed with this as it would incurr further costs to a problem that I am not certain SERE can see or fix. Very disappointed in review and service of my vehicle from SERE, would never use again for any vehicle advice or service. I felt what they carried out was to ensure I returned to them for further servicing at a costs.
