I only booked once, as I wanted to go to a campsite and enjoy New Year’s Eve with my family. I had booked weeks before, bought accessories and planned everything.

However, days before the trip, I started to develop severe back pain. The website suggested calling the campsite directly for amendments and cancellations. I kept calling the two numbers advertised, but there was no answer.

I called their customer support, who told me to just go directly to the campsite and resolve it on site, as they had had no problems with that campsite.

When I arrived on site, I was asked to leave, as they didn’t accept kids during winter under certain conditions, which was the opposite of what was advertised on the website, where the campsite was presented as child-friendly all year round. I was also told that they wouldn’t usually accept such bookings during winter anyway.

So, after planning everything, spending money and travelling there with my family, I was simply turned away and had to return home.

After that, I also discovered that the two numbers advertised had been non-functional for three months prior to my conversation with Pitchup.com customer service.

So, how is it that I was told that they hadn’t encountered any issues with that campsite?

I reported the issue, while Pitchup.com kept the non-functional numbers and incorrect descriptions on their website. Their customer service became so impolite that they would simply terminate calls and refuse to answer my questions about what had actually happened.

No accountability. No rectification. No meaningful explanation whatsoever.

In my opinion, if I give my money to a business that does not ensure that the information on its website is correct, and when such misinformation affects a customer’s holiday, simply hides away and refuses to face any accountability, that tells me everything I need to know about the trustworthiness of its services and the maturity and professionalism of its customer service representatives.

I hope my story helps others.

In addition, don’t even try asking them for help accessing a refund.

For days, all Pitchup.com would say was that they could not reach the campsite and that they would ‘try and call them again’. Yet these were the same contact details that, as I later discovered, had apparently already been non-functional for months.

After weeks in which my refund had still not been returned, I had to send formal legal correspondence directly to the business via email. Only after that did they finally decide to release my money back to my account.

For me, this was not simply a bad camping experience. It was an experience of relying on information advertised on a booking website, following the instructions given by its customer service, spending money and travelling with my family, only to be turned away on arrival and then face weeks of frustration trying to obtain answers and get my money back.

That experience tells me everything I need to know about whether I would ever trust this service with another booking.

We booked with Barley Meadow Touring Park in Cockenwell last week and it was lovely. A beautiful setting. The site itself was spotless and the toilets and shower were immaculate. Probably the best we’ve used on any site we’ve been too. It was peaceful too. The owners couldn’t do enough , they were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

fantastic hosts, great location lovely and quiet, really enjoyed a few days there with the kids.

Booked through this site only for my booking to be immediately cancelled (within 2 minutes) due to a "double booking" and the campsite claiming it was due to a system error.
Cancellation email claims the 15% deposit is being kept even though the reasons above are out of our control.
Emailed about a refund, was told its being investigated and heard nothing since! Shocking customer service. Won't ever use again. Will have to claim back through my bank.

Lovely quiet campsite right in the middle of the 3YPs.
Hot showers, good washing facilities and nice touches where you don’t need to bring your own washing up liquid or loo roll 😁
Having the barn to go anytime is a plus.
And if you forget something-they have it.

I used google map from the campsite to my work, and as well I checked shopping areas around the site also using Google map.

Habe eine falsche Buchung gemacht und wollte diese ändern. Habe keine Hilfe erhalten ausser, dass ich es direkt über den Campingplatz versuchen solle. Nur dieser hat mich wieder zu Pitchup geschickt...und dieser wieder retour. Ich glaube ich habe mit einer KI Kommuniziert...schade...

Have booked a few campsites through pitch up.com and all is easy enough, but I have to say when there is a issue they do nothing at all to help, at least they could try and help.Also I am still waiting on a reply from a email I sent.

Booking was easy and affordable, Pleasantly greeted on our first day and felt welcome. Beautiful atmosphere on the campsite during our stay, owner was attentive and informative. The showers and toilets were clean, had no problems with either during our stay. The pitch we chose was to the right mowed area as you enter the camping site. There was lots to see around the camp area such as the horses as you enter and a few walk trails around the area. Would especially recommend the walk trail to the pub it is was stunning. Would definitely go back here in the future and was the perfect camp spot for newbies or avid campers alike.

Friendly responses and a straightforward booking system process.

Had the most amazing visit to the site was easy to find and super clean and tidy as well, had good communication from the owners inc rules re quiet times and aside from a group coming back drunk at midnight via taxi the site was silent and peaceful in the time frame x spent the night under the stars watching the meteor shower and couldn't have wished for a more perfect get away! X only one thing to mention and that was the hand sanitisers in loos were empty but we had some in the car anyway, toilets and showers were super clean and cant wait to revisit 🫶

Looking for Camping places is very easy, also the Booking and paying.

Brilliant location, magnificent owner, couldn't do enough, will go back for sure,narrow road going in for my large motorhome but ok slowly 👌
