Kilmarnock Road Branch
I used the Kilmarnock Road branch for the first time on Monday and had a very positive, friendly experience from all of the staff. This is so important when dealing with health matters. The Optician was thorough in her examination and listened carefully to my concerns. I left feeling very reassured.

Booked in to get a quote for laser eye…
Booked in to get a quote for laser eye surgery. £50 hold on my card to make sure I turned up to the appointment which I was fine with. Then the consultant rang me to tell me due to my age and having a reading prescription only (as my distance was fine) I would NOT be eligible for laser surgery. Would have to be full lens replacement at a cost of approx £7k.
He said he understood I was enquiring about laser eye surgery but apologised he couldn’t take off the £50 charge. Spoke to customer services 5 times and no one could help with removing the charge. Obv want to get you in the chair to try and sell you the more expensive lens replacement.
Managed to call again after customer services didn’t call me back even though they’d arranged a time. They said they would refund the £50 and blamed the consultant for telling me I wasn’t eligible. I explained I’d spoken to another company in recent days who had told me exactly the same thing so their consultant was correct based on my read only prescription and age. This just proves further to me that they want to get you in that chair to sell you the more expensive option.

Great communication from pre appointment to actual day appointment. The medical advisor Evesta was absolutely lovely and made me so comfortable discussing everything with her.

The Staff in Paisley , Optical Express have always shown me respect and have been very helpful in supporting me to pick the right frames.
On my observation of the staff dealing with other customers , the Paisley staff give the same respect to them also, with welcome and friendly manerisium
I have always left their shop feeling satisfied with my new glasses .

Went into Derby today and the staff went above and beyond with all the checks and information and at the end of it all recommended that I didn't have the lens replacement for now a my eyesight was better than I realised.

As soon as i walked into the eye clinic
They made me really comfortable at the reception. The member of staff who looked after me .her name was
Nikita r from white city Westfields I was nervous at first. But after a while she made me relaxed and talked me through. What was going on with my eyes. And the surgery involved. She was very polite. Very caring and new what she was talking about .

Aftercare? More like afterthought
After lens replacement surgery, the aftercare I've received was cursory at best, shoddy at worst at the Westfield White City branch. While all the staff are courteous, their actions show a complete lack of commitment or professionalism to help with my eye's adjustment and 3 month's on, my eyesight was worse than it was before the surgery. I had been quite patient while having to deal with:
- changed and missed appointments
- agreed actions that are not followed through
- being made to wait nearly 75 minutes for for tests that totalled 15 minutes
- not being able to speak directly with the Westfield branch and, Glasgow head office not being able to do anything to help
- being told that I need to attend a branch that is an hour and fifteen minutes away from me when there is a much close branch in Harley Street because Westfield 'has surgeons', though I've never seen a surgeon during the after care
While I got the branch changed, they were very quick to discharge me. A couple of years on, the sight in the eye I had surgery is worse than before, despite being told by the optician at Westfield that my eyesight would improve and remain the same.
I chose Optical Express because I'd had laser surgery previously with them and had absolutely no complaints. This time, however, I'd not recommend them. In fact, I'd say avoid them or get your lens replacement on the NHS. At least you don't have to spent nearly £4k.
