Stay away from McColls posloe road as manager and cook have a vile attitude everytime I use the shop on every occasion I say hello and get grunted at and walk past were they bake and the cook preparing food is on her phone gambling and throws attitude makes the whole shopping experience an absolute joke zero customer service at best

I used to shop at the Carron Branch in Falkirk, however they never have 1lire bottles of fresh milk, but have 2ltre ones in stock, staff say that they get very limited deliveries of the 1 LTE bottles of fresh milk, but plenty of organic which is more expensive , so I now shop elswhere.

McColls is usually good and honest staff but I will be watching my change in future as I was given change of £5 instead of a £20 could be because of pubs open again tricking drunks
Customer Unfriendly - pure money machinery
McColls' business policy is simply outrageous. They have prices as if they were selling exclusive goods. A baguette Parisienne for 1.15 pounds. The company sells its baguette from yesterday, dry and inedible at the same price. And this is not the first time.
Four Coca Cola Cans for £ 2.25?
Then I can go to "Booths". There I have at least good goods at a reasonable price.
I have been going in to mcColl's gale…
I have been going in to mcColl's gale lane since it opened and I have to say the manager and assistant manager and all the staff are very friendly helpful . I have got to no them all and what a superb team they are
Ripped off .
Went in to get slush for granddaughter (slush puppy ) .Last year small 49p medium 99p large 129p.This years prices small 69p medium 119p large 149p .Obviously slush ingredients have gone up or just ripping people off because of hot weather .Needless to say don t like being ripped off .So no more m colls .
Local but not useful.
Most retail outlets have adjusted to the present serious situation and manage a reasonable customer throughput something McColl's seem to still be struggling with. Our local branch has always struggled with staff attitude problems but now the staff are staff behind a thin veil social distancing measures as a reason for maintaining poor service.
I have been banned for life by the…
I have been banned for life by the Manager of the Holyhead store 6 years ago for mistakenly forgetting that i had a dvd in the hood of my pram but when I was informed 2 days later I paid £10 for it, no police were called no letter stating the ban, but it gets worse, i am allowed to be served by the staff if i stand by the door and give them a list even if that contains my bank card pin, it's lucky I trust the staff as I know them, i live 2 mins from the shop and it's the only shop that has payzone, sometimes my 7yr old goes in bit that is no longer possible due to covid19 and a sign stating children must be accompanied by an adult but not only that they will not allow my 13yr old son to go in either, i feel ashamed and embarrassed that i have to stand by the door to be served I've contacted mccolls on numerous occasions but they tell me it's at the managers discretion, Its ridiculous and woukd like to hear your opinions about my situation thank you
Ex employee
I worked for this company in one of their Huddersfield stores. I left last summer due to the constant bullying not only between staff but the way certain members of staff spoke about customers too. The shop has gone downhill rapidly since with other members of staff leaving and another being dismissed after a serious of requests made with the manager regarding bullying towards themselves but nothing being done about it. This shop in particular runs with one rule for one member of staff and another for everyone else. Looking through the handbook many of the staff break the rules every shift but they seem to be able to turn up do minimal work and go home receiving full pay. Absolute disgrace of a company with double standards
Overpriced and hardly ever stocked
Don’t waste your time or money going to McColl’s.
The only reason I shop here is because it’s the closest shop to my house otherwise I have to travel over 5 miles to the supermarket. The quality of fresh food is awful and overpriced. Not only is the fresh food awful and overpriced but the food in general is so much more expensive than going to your local supermarket. I don’t know how they’re still open with such little quantity of food.
How not to run a business
So twice recently I have tried to use Mcolls on Yarm road in Darlington, bare in mind we are in lockdown and I dont want to travel far I thought i would use my local store, what a farce! On both occasions (thursday, and Saturday 23rd may)I have tried to use the store for essential items to be told the store is closed while they do the delivery stock. Yes there was a delivery wagon outside but there has been many times over the years and I have been allowed to shop, I was told to come back later but in the end i just went elsewhere, again! Why are you turning customers away, this is inconvenient for customers and you are losing business. I know it's not just me its happened to. I understand you need delivery but I dont know any other store that closes for over a hour while your stock is delivered. Also, the man who works there needs to stop his swearing!
I went to buy some cider
I went to buy some cider. They had strongbow £1.60 each, there was a 4pack with one missing so I went to the till to buy 3 which came to £4.80.So I asked how much it was for 4 cans. She could not tell me but said it would be 4 x £1.60.Which is £6.40.
Most corner shops charge less to buy four and you pay more for individual cans.
I cannot believe that they charge £6.40 for 4 cans, Spar charge £4.75 and Morrisins £4.50.
This is an absolute disagrace and will never ever shop there again
Excellent staff at McColl's West Moors, Ferndown, Dorset
These 5 stars are for the excellent, caring, polite and supportive staff at the West Moors store, I have nothing but praise for them, during the pandemic and before they have been there doing their best to help the community, going out of their way to support their costumers against all the odds, I for one feel very lucky to have them so near where I live, keep up the good work McColl's staff.
If I could rate lower I would.
Disgusting company to work for I had previously worked at a Mccolls Shop in Essex and in a local village store. For 7 years I worked for them including Christmas Day......why do they have to be open Christmas Say when every other shop is closed is still beyond me now.
The amount of times the company Mccolls broke health and safety laws, one person working when trying to deal with delivery’s and post office transaction no protection for staff who have been assaulted doing there job no help or support from the area manger and beyond.
The company treat you terribly low wages, health safety breaches, sometime times working on a 12 hour shift from open to close with no help or support when you ask for the company to find someone to take over they say no you tell them you want a break as you are allowed and say I will have to close the shop to do so and they tell you your not allowed even to go to the toilet it’s disgraceful worst company I have ever worked for !!
Martin Mcholls
very nice competent helpull friendly staff that say thank you although the food bank box is unmissable it's a nice welcoming atmosphere
Good choices as with all well known brands it is always dearer (Negative side putting going out of date food at the tills and on the counter where customers pay for shopping). Other than that very good but can be expensivery as you get what you pay for.
I live in Hollesley Suffolk
I live in Hollesley Suffolk. I think it is disgusting the way this company is treating their staff during this pandemic. The staff are going above and beyond, they are using their personal time to shop for vulnerable local people. They are exceptional even to the point of dressing up over the Easter weekend to raise money for charity and bring a much needed smile to our faces. And they are treated terribly by McColls. The government state that people are only allowed to shop once per day, but I live close enough to witness the same people shopping 2 or even 3 times a day. When I questioned staff about this, I was told they weren't to refuse sale. I have seen staff close to tears, when they have been overwhelmed trying to sort out deliveries, stock shelves and extra cleaning, with no extra help. I have also seen staff being physically pushed aside by customers who are ignoring social distancing. I have heard they way customers speak to the staff and I am disgusted. There is one member of staff each shift who is manning the till and opening and closing the door which is hard enough, but during the evening it leaves only one member of staff to do everything. The store was closing an hour early to allow for restock, but the company have stopped this. It is a disgrace how McColls are treating the amazing staff during this difficult time.
Not only expensive but not all staff…and
Not only expensive but not all staff are approachable and talk behind your back milk is reduced if it goes out of date the following day the answer is freeze it but milk expands in the freezer there's prices Rob you
My local Mccolls is perfectly…
My local Mccolls is perfectly acceptable except I rarely now go as to when it was the Co-op. The long serving staff are not as happy, the stock less diverse and lower quality. Some kind, locally respected staff have gone. However the staff are still nice though management seems more intimidatory.
So this brings me to my real gripe. It is with Mccolls as a company.. I drive all over SW England and I normally go somewhere else rather than Mccolls. It is a horrible shop chain. They appear to be a poor employer too.

Called into McColls market square Billingham today, I only visit a couple of times a month.staff usually friendly but today I met Ste the new manager a really nice man, helpful and friendly thanks Ste I will be back.
Lets be honest Mccolls take advantage…
Lets be honest Mccolls take advantage of people. Got one on a local council estate. Tesco is just over a mile away . Mccolls charge a fortune. Unless your really needing something i avoid them. They get stuff at same price as tesco or asda yet charge 3 times the price . Its a joke .
