Let's bring down corporate grocery stores

I’ve been shopping at Pick n Save since it was Roundy’s Warehouse Foods and I had to use a crayon to write prices on the products.

I’ve had a Pick n Save card since they were first issued, who knows when. Now, besides having a card I also have to use the app to get special deals. I have not had the app work correctly but maybe once in the past 3-4 years.

One way or another I always end up going to the service counter and having to get credit for items I purchased. I was screwed out of $3.00 with the stupid online deals just recently.

Why do I have to clip coupons and supply my personal information twice in order to shop at Kroger stores? And I’ve shopped at Kroger’s all over the country, including Smith’s, Dillon’s, Ralph’s and Fred Meyer. I stopped buying milk at Pick n Save because it often went bad before the ‘sell by’ date even arrived, and I have friends who have experienced the same problem, time and again.

I’m done with Kroger and your affiliates. I don’t see any reason why I have to have two methods, card and app, in order to get your deals. I don’t even have to use one method at Albertsons, they always give you the best price without having to jump through hoops.

My daughter is of the same mind and has already stopped shopping at Kroger stores.

I’d rather pay full price than shop at a Kroger one more time.

I also see that Kroger has had record profits nearly double of last year, in just one quarter; the CEO is paid over $15 million per year. Is there any doubt as to why the cost of groseries is so high?

I will now support a locally owned gocery store. We all should support our locally owned grocery stores.

I use Kroger for delivery

I use Kroger for delivery. When time delivery says from 1PM-2PM, they arrive right around 1PM. Sometimes it arrives 15 minutes early. The drivers are really friendly. They arrive in a big, refrigerated truck that keeps your food cool. Their deals are like no others, like buying 1 twelve pack of soda and get 2 free, and several sales that is just too good to pass up

Kroger has crashed and burned

I used to like Kroger/King Soopers. Prices used to be fair (before Covid). Online shopping and pick up experience used to be good. Returning items used to be easy. Fast forward to 2024. Food prices…outrageous! In store returns…challenging (even when the item you’re returning is CLEARLY outdated). Online ordering….not worth it anymore. Nearly EVERYTHING I want to order online is only available for delivery. WTH??? Ok, so I get the profits are important, but now the value add of online ordering is gone…and so am I.

I will stick with Walmart. Especially since almost everything I buy is priced lower at Walmart. Plus, there’s no silly requirement of making food available for delivery only and, the best thing yet…easy returns via the app or in person. No scrambling to find paper receipts. No arguing with customer service. Just simple. Put customers first.

HACKING

HACKING! I had a charge for $101.36 in my bank account from yesterday. 9/12. It was an order for pickup in TN and originating from GA!! I live in Columbus, Ohio. All the Jamaican call center, Khebany, supposed supervisor would say was call your bank! Stated they DO have a fraud department but no offer to get me to fraud department! Didn’t even bother to say something as simple as I am sorry this happened to you! Kroger doesn’t care about its customers! Delete your online account now!!!!!

I will Never shop here or use boost…

I will Never shop here or use boost again. My shopper said the beef on sale that I wanted wasn't available and substituted really expensive ground beef and also french fries. What I wanted WAS available. He lied to get a bigger check and Kroger told me I would get a refund and later refused to give me my 36 dollars back. Use Amazon, Instacart or Walmart plus. I have all three and never had a problem. Kroger is a greedy corporation who doesn't value their customers. Oh yeah. Changing my pharmacy too.

Being a faithful Fry's customer for…

Being a faithful Fry's customer for over 20 years, when my car broke down, I decided to try their delivery option.
10 minutes prior to the end of the delivery windows, I got a text saying that the order was canceled! No reason, just canceled.The best part, the REFUND of MY $will be 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS! This order was placed Friday evening, leaving me with NO MONEY OR FOOD FOR A WEEK!
The supervisor said the could apply an INSTORE or DELIVERY CREDIT of $30 to my Fry's card for the inconvenience. What makes them even THINK I would try delivery again!???
Why not credit my ENTIRE ORDER, since you left me broke with no food?!!!
THIS POLICY IS UNACCEPTABLE!
I will now be looking to SPROUTS as my go to store.

Boost member grocery over charge

I joined their Kroger Boost membership where you can get your groceries delivered. I ordered 18 items for about $56 dollars and was charged $195 plus taxes and delivery tip which ended up being over $200 dollars in charges for 46 items. It took over 90 minutes to track who was responsible for the over charges. Kroger used Instacart to deliver my items. Each passed the issue to the other. Kroger ended up saying my money would be refunded back to my account in 1-3 business days. This should never have happened. I have been a loyal customer and I will shop in store but not delivery again. I am so hurt, frustrated, angry and disappointed that this happened. The person that did my order put my items were out of stock (all my items ordered were delivered and they were not out of stock.) So they put in a bunch of substitutes that I didn’t authorize. I always do my edit and confirm my substitutes. Fortunately that I check my accounts and orders. Whoever did it even had the nerves to use their coupons for the items they put on my debit card.

VERY deceptive pricing

VERY deceptive pricing! Placed a delivery order and received confirmation of total being around $253.00 with all the "discounts". After order was received was charged $320.00! Was told by customer service the "sale" had ended on most items I purchased?! Then WHY allow me to purchase them at that price and not honor that! There are items I would not have purchased if I knew the sale prices would not apply, and I could have saved SO much more money at my local grocery store. Customer service is a joke and stands behind this dishonesty.

Have to Bag your own Groceries

Kroger profits BILLIONS every year, but the company insists I use self-checkout, and when I use a cashier, they make me bag my own groceries. Although I've added a required date to this experience, this is something I encounter with every visit.

Find an alternative! There are much better ones out there that actually care about the consumer.

Good and Areas to Improve

My most recent experience has been great except that thing of posting prices that once you get to the checkout you do not get it's absolutely ridiculous. The only reason that operated this as high as I did was because the employees are usually phenomenal. They have one young man named Quentin Who is intelligent, patient, knowledgeable of the store, willing to go to the back to find what you need because it has not been stocked and gives no excuses when you ask him for help. there is also a man named Donald who was a heavyset man and I was afraid he could not carry the watermelon for me I'm 77 and he said yes I can carry it he says I have loads heavier than this that I carry and he was so kind. Then there were many others one who went all the way outside to find one of the smaller baskets for me, then another who was patient enough to show me how I can get on the web and get a discount on items at Kroger. I could go on and on about the employees, but administratively Kroger has to come up to par with giving us an easier way to find great deals at the store. I can usually always go in and look and search and get good bargains on the bagged salad, but not in every store in the stores I'm familiar with I know where to go how to do it And it's really great. However they have a shelf with produce that if used in a reasonable time can be discounted, but you have to be careful because some of their discounted items are as high as the regular items. It's a shame those clip on things are so difficult to take Andy job someone in corporate needs to do a better job on the formatting of that program.

I called Kroger to order a cake for my wife's birthday. Initially, I was informed that a 24-hour advance notice was required. I agreed to pick it up in 24 hours, but then I was told it needed to be 48 hours. What has happened to customer service? This occurred at the Kroger Marketplace on North Tarrant Parkway.

I am so disappointed in Krogers

I am so disappointed in Krogers, I went to go in the door and besides all the stinky flowers I have to hold my breath through they decide to have a stinking candle lit. I have COPD and my lungs are not that strong. Then I had to stand and wait on Deanna I think was how she spelled it. The dumbest women ever to be at Customer Service. Finally someone came over to help her. The Pears that were on sale was rotted with juices all over the floor, the same with the peaches and the strawberries. They didn't have my pear applesauce in. If you sell out of it more than the strawberry then order more of my pear. The quality of this store has went down hill. The fresh caught fish is always out. Order more of it. I do not eat farm raised fish. Why do you stock it?? I stopped shopping at Wal-mart for this very reason!!! I guess it's back to Aldi's and Ingles for me.

What happened to grocery stores?

Like most grocery stores today they refuse to actually fill the stock room in the back. I’ve been grocery store employee myself many moons ago. And I know the operations of a grocery store pretty well. And nearly all do have a back room stock where they hold additional items. That way if what’s on the shelf runs out, the stock guys can grab it from the back and refill the shelves ensuring you don’t run out of stock.

Today most grocery stories to basically operating on the thinnest stock possible. Meaning the back room only had a tiny amount of over stock just for a handful of items. The rest once it runs out on the shelf it doesn’t get refilled till the next truck comes around to restock the store.

And there is nothing more frustrating than then having to go to 6 different Kroger’s to get all I need because not one ever has everything in stock.

Here in Texas in comparison the local grocery store they are never not once out of stock. And if you do happen to come across an item that is out of stock they happily tell you when they expect the next truck and that they will hold the item for you and can come on that day and pick it ok. Meaning my local store here is the only single store I have to go to. Sure the Kroger rewards program makes the prices cheaper but what are cheaper prices when items are never freaking available?

Today the most annoying task ever is grocery shopping. Before COVID the easiest task ever was grocery shopping .

If there is one thing I can say is that I hate how corporations have all gone the way of making live a living nightmare for customers. Nearly all company in general that had the best reputations no longer do. And it’s sad to see.

If Kroger sees this I hope they can understand that lack of product and crazy high prices do NOT incentivize a customer to return. We go looking for your competition and we are willing to spend more with them than to be frustrated with you. Stock your darn stores, control inventory and order ahead of time so that you keep out of stock items to the very bare minimum. So that way we only need on trip to a store full stock to enjoy our rewards points and be happy again with good service.

My delivery was supposed to be…

My delivery was supposed to be 8am-9:00am. Received a text around 8:30am saying the delayed my order by 7-8 hours. Hahaha. This people are insane. Called to get a refund on my order. For the run around, on the phone with them -mostly on hold for 45min. Told me they would call me back in an hour. This is a complete joke.

Bad experience...

Poor customer service. Didn't receive all my items. I called Kroger customer support (located in the Caribbean it turns out if you need customer support in the morning) and they said they could refund the missing items and that it would take 5-7 business days!

Can you believe that? They take your money immediately but when they mess up, they make you wait. Kroger used to be good, now they seem to be getting worse, kind of like their produce of late. I've received rotten produce like potatoes, freezer burnt oranges (as if they freeze them or stored too cold) onions, or apples that are soft/mushy.

It turns out, upon reading various Kroger produce reviews in their site, Kroger's has quite a bit of unhappy customers whom have received rotten/poor quality produce. That and Kroger advertises items on their website that they say are "in stock" but then right before you get your order delivered (after they pack your item at the warehouse), they say the item(s) are "out of stock". Are the stock personnel even doing their job? They should be reporting inventory to the website, right? If not, then that's a red flag that Kroger needs to investigate it's workers.

I'm a long time Kroger customer. But after this bad experience, I will probably do business elsewhere. It's sad because Kroger's has been around so long and usually are great.

The website is extremely faulty!

I have used Kroger online shopping many times. This time, as several other times however, was so horrible, I am done shopping with them! I put together an order totaling over $100 and went to my "cart" to check out. For over 38 minutes the site spun in circles, wouldn't let me check out and I tried calling customer service and doing a chat for help. Today, no-one picked up the phone at customer service for almost 10 minutes, so in essence I was delayed over 48 minutes checking out! I waited over five minutes for a chat assistance and I wrote in the chat box that I was upset with the wait. In 2 seconds, a flash phrase came over the screen stating that the "chat was unavailable at this time!" REALLY? So, too bad Kroger, I will be shopping somewhere else! This has happened way too many times and you need to fix your website or the rest of your online shoppers will also leave. I did enjoy the refrigerated delivery, but I just don't have time to wait for the website to stops spinning in place! Oh, one !ore thing, don't send pregnant workers with a delivery order that contains heavy items! The one you sent us refused to bring our order into our home as they normally do, making my elderly husband carry items in! If she can't lift cases of water, roll the grocery crates inside, etc., send a muscular partner with her! PLEASE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

Ordered food online using my EBT card…

Ordered food online using my EBT card paid delivery fee only for the driver to add items after I already paid the delivery fee. The driver/shopper added 84 dollars to my visa card that I used to pay delivery fee. When I called in customer service was rude and wouldn't refund my money so I made a police report and called the bank to get my money returned. Buyers beware don't use Kroger online shopping the steal from you.

Madison Indiana Kroger

Madison Indiana Kroger. The store is not a large Kroger with not many options. The customer service when entering self-checkout was uncalled for. She looked at my cart which held 27 items and told me I could not use, as it was for 25 items or less. There was 1 individual in self-checkout (6 checkouts) and 2 lanes open. I always use self-checkout due to the fact items do not ring up correctly and I can watch. I understand a cart full. (but not for sure who can afford that) We had 1 water, 1 box of K-cups, 6 rice boxes, 2 spices, 2 rolls of burger, 2 containers of onions, 2 kleenex, box of frozen rolls, 1 frozen dinner, 2 spices, 1 ketchup, 1 box of crackers, 1 plastic bag of carrots, and 5 other small items. I have always shopped at Krogers, however lately have found myself shopping more at Wal-Mart and now Aldi's due to price. This is now making me pray for a Publix to move to Clarksville IN and that will be my new shopping spot. I will be very limited on any purchase going forward at this Kroger.
Someone needs to look up the meaning of self-checkout.
