One rule for me and one for another person the same problem he got his winnings I don’t get mine !!

I was advised to open a case with ibas as I used my mothers card to deposit at one time when my payment card would not go throw
other times I have used my own card on this occasion when I used her card I won 1800.00 of which they would not pay due to using a third party card on that occasion even though they took the payments from her account fine

Ibas had already helped someone get there money due to this problem which is why I was recommended them but for some reason my claim has been turned down!!

I don’t see how they can decide a yes for someone else but a no for me makes no sense at all
It was the same thing that happened to both of us so why can I not have my money
Obviously one rule for one person and one rule for me !!
James ironside decided he could get his winnings fine even though he used a third party card like me

Disgusting company don't care about their customers if your spending or even winning just wait for the constant spam emails and notifications to try and get you back on to keep betting how they legally get away with it is beyond me they don't listen and don't care and lie stay well away from them.!

Reasoning is completely invalid

Got my case completely wrong

I won’t say IBAS sides with the Casino as I’ve seen reviews of them being fair and just, but I believe they’ve got my case horribly wrong.

Deposited £1k of my hard earned money to SpaceCasino and risked my funds and managed to make it to £2k. As you know, doubling your balance is not easy and took risk and was extremely happy with the outcome.

Already passed verification checks long before I played and went to withdraw feeling great.

2 days later, my account was closed

They never paid out after months of not hearing a solution and the reasoning was ‘I breached terms 3.5 Suspension and Closure by SpaceCasino’ which made 0 sense.

Gave all evidence to IBAS and sided with SpaceCasino for reasoning of ‘detected abnormalities in documents’ & ‘evidence of forged documents’

I’ve never forged a document in my life?
They know I’ve sent original copies of my identification, address & bank statements all in my full name and current address. I’m extremely confused as to what is forged. Show me the ‘forged documents’ and I will FaceTime you the original copy, completely identical to the documents SpaceCasino holds, while they’re right beside my face.

I use these same documents for bet365 and Betway with no problems, because it’s MY OWN personal identification, address and bank statements.

I work hard for my funds and it’s absolutely disgusting and vile to lose this knowing you’ve done absolutely no wrong.

IBAS never asked SpaceCasino to see these documents of mine or anything because they are all 500% accurate. Not fair at all & absolutely gutted £1k has been taken from me for an insane judgement.

This happened in November but my chest won’t let hard hours of work be stolen when I’ve followed rules and done no wrong. Will be looking into using my funds to take this to further solicitors as I still have all evidence.

IBAS I’m really appalled with this service, I wouldn’t mind losing my case against SpaceCasino if reasoning is just. Claiming you’ve seen ‘abnormalities in my documents’ is just insane. I would also need to contact my Work place, NHS, GovUK and cancel my abroad holidays since apparently my documents are all ‘abnormal’.

Extremely incorrect judgement to make.

I won 2100 on coral and they shut my account down and seized my winnings after I sent them all the documents they asked for I contacted ibas and they were great I dealt with Ron great and quick communication and I also got my winnings back thanks to Ron. Ibas thank you so much

Had an absolute nightmare with William Hill, but Angela and the IBAS team were incredible—they sorted everything out quickly and professionally. Highly recommend their services!

William Hill’s dodgy practices make me question how they’re even allowed to operate. Without IBAS, I would have been completely screwed. Huge thanks to Angela and the team for fighting for fairness!

Unprofessional and unfair

I struggle to believe that IBAS operate with any kind of impartial involvement. In my complaint they used generic terms, the sort you might use at the pub with friends.

Their idea of a resolution was a £10 free bet, which was issued with 24 hours to accept. They only advised me of this around 2 weeks after the free bet resolution had expired. How they expect somebody to know and accept this without being advised until significantly later is beyond me.

I have had the pleasure of using IBAS on two occasions, and both times they resolved my issues to the highest standard of satisfaction. On my first case, Ron Hearn proved to be an absolute star—his professionalism, expertise, and dedication were truly second to none. For my second issue, the ever-lovely James Ironside stepped in and once again delivered a brilliant result, ensuring the problem was fixed with care and efficiency.

No surprises with the total number of…

No surprises with the total number of bad reviews left by this company, it is plain and obvious that they are in bed with these betting companies.

Had a situation where a card total bet was paid out - following a second yellow card resulting in a red card (over 5.5 paid out)

Had the exact same issue where a red card was awarded and they refused to pay out - they cited "the bet was resettled as a gesture of goodwill" NO IT WASN'T. It was simply resettled with no word of any gesture.

They are slow, inefficient and quite frankly rude - i shall take the case within the UK court system and request that their practices are also looked into.

Hi Jess,

We appreciate that you don't like the decision, but it is grossly unfair and unreasonable to allege that IBAS is "in bed" with your bookmaker because our Panel determined that your bet had been settled correctly.

At your request, we looked into your bet on total cards in a Serie B Brazilian football match and determined that five yellow cards had been shown to players of one team and three yellow cards to the other. You bet on 9 or more cards being shown in the match.

Before and after the match, the bookmaker's rules said:

“For any bets placed on the total number of cards to be awarded (e.g. in total, to a team or to a single player/group of players), a player who has been shown two yellow cards (and is therefore ultimately shown a red card) or a player who is shown a yellow card followed by a straight red card will, for settlement purposes, be deemed in each case to have been shown two (rather than three) cards. For the avoidance of a doubt, the award of a straight red card will, for settlement purposes, be deemed to amount to the award of a single card.”

If an earlier bet with the same company was treated differently we can understand your confusion and disappointment, but we were asked to adjudicate on the settlement of this bet - and found that it was settled correctly, and fairly, in accordance with rules that we considered to be acceptable and clearly set out.

If the court system determines that we have made a mistake with your case, we will appreciate receiving details of that outcome so we can take it into account in future, equivalent disputes.

Arrogance

Reading their responses to negative and critical reviews. There's definitely an aura of arrogance with IBAS and lack of respect for those who come to them for assistance. Plus always believing they are right and knowing there's no body to prove them otherwise. Quite alarming for a service like this to handle complaints at the next level when going through the betting company itself doesn't work

Hi James. We always aim to treat those who use our service with respect at all times but the people who work here are human and may occasionally mirror elements of any discourtesy they are shown.

IBAS was set up by Mirror Group Newspapers in 1998 to help people with complaints about betting and gaming when there was no legal protection, considerably fewer regulations and much less of the political/media scrutiny that exists today. That objective remains at the heart of why we exist today, even though the complaining landscape has evolved considerably.

Our Adjudication Panel don't always believe they're right. They are asked to consider the facts of a case - to review the evidence and arguments from both sides and reach a fair, independent decision.

Our Frontline team are asked to assess incoming claims and to be honest with people complaining if their case falls outside of our remit or concerns issues we can't help with. Some of the restrictions on what we can help with are legal - others are regulatory, but in each case these are beyond our control. They may also tell a claimant if they believe a case has no realistic prospect of success - and they do this to avoid giving false hope or wasting the complainant's time.

Amazing experience with IBAS

My experience with IBAS and, specifically, Mr Ironside, has been second to none.

In July 2024, I lost a significant amount of money as a result of an unexpected error on the Betfair platform, which they refused to take responsibility for when I contacted them directly. It took me a while to lodge a case with IBAS as I was shaken by the experience, and was reluctant to revisit it. From the very beginning, Mr Ironside put me at ease and his communications were clear and respectful. Having never experienced the process before, I sought his advice and he was always impartial and professional, guiding me through the correspondence with Betfair and trying to find a solution. Together, we went through a series of negotiations with Betfair who, last week, finally repaid the entire amount I lost. I am absolutely delighted and thank Mr Ironside and his team very much for their diligence and dedication to my case.

Having read some of the reviews on this site, I was hesitant to even proceed with a case because it appeared that it would be a waste of time. Now, I can only assume those reviewers are angry that their cases were unsuccessful and this is reflected in their reviews. My experience has been quite different and I would encourage anyone who believes they have been unfairly treated by a bookie to file a case with IBAS. I can unequivocally say I felt supported by IBAS and not once did I feel they were in favour of the bookie. It has been a reassuring and positive experience for me from the start.

I'm sorry to read that you're unhappy with the decision of our Adjudication Panel.

A lot of people who bet on football statistics don't realise that what they are betting on is "how many fouls a particular data agency record a player having committed". You are betting on a person's opinion. However many fouls/shots that person records determines whether you win or lose.

In this case you bet with Skybet who use OPTA data. So when the bet says "How many fouls will A Robertson commit?" what it really means is "How many fouls will OPTA record A Robertson committing?"

On that basis, it does not matter whether our adjudicators agreed with you or not. Even if our adjudicators believed that a foul had been committed, what you were betting on was whether OPTA would record a foul.

I appreciate that this isn't straightforward to understand, but in our opinion you are arguing with the wrong people. If you believe that a foul should have been recorded and wasn't, you need to contact OPTA and complain to them. IBAS has said many times that it would be preferable if individuals bettors could contact the data agencies directly to query certain decisions if they think they are clearly wrong.

However, we are satisfied that your bet was settled fairly and on the basis of what OPTA announced. Those were the rules of your bet.

I can assure you that there has been no corruption and no 'covering up' for the bookies. The bookies aren't deciding how many fouls there were either.

Complicit Betting Assisted Service.

Failed to even call me despite repeated requests for a quick call to clarify what was a complex bet in writing. Instead CBAS employees prefer to hide behind a keyboard and investigated a complaint completely wrongly. Then sided with those charlatans at Skybet.

CBAS not fit for purpose.Ignore the 5 star.reviews these guys are in bed with the betting industry. Not Independent nor professional.

The response from.Richard below elucidates the precise problem with CBAS. They don't want phone calls but happily waste time to and fro with messages. They won't make calls even when requested deciding they are already judge and jury and in the words of Richard we deal.with compex cases well.why ade you so afraid of talking to customers to clarify your understanding. Sometimes Richard a call helps to clarify and make matters simpler to understand while allowing an organisation to use its time wisely But of course CBAS is not interested in establishing the truth/ nor facts. Even when they are told they are poor they think otherwise- CBAS are always right it seems
They are interested in box ticking and hiding behind a poor case management system and bad policies. Skybet know this and happily shaft customers knowing CBAS are pointless

I'm sorry that you didn't receive the decision you wanted. We appreciate that you would have preferred a phone call to discuss your case, but as our adjudications are conducted in writing we prefer to avoid taking evidence over the phone as that cannot be included in the complaint file.

We recognise that the circumstances of your case felt complex to you and worthy of a phone discussion, but we have looked into many claims involving promotions like the Acca Freeze and their withdrawal/suspension - I am satisfied that our team understood your position and the arguments you put forward.

IBAS is only an alternative to court action. If you believe you have been treated unjustly you can consider using the small claims money service to recover what you believe you are owed. However, you should be aware that unlike IBAS the court process is not free of charge and can come with risks - mainly that if your claim is unsuccessful it is possible that the opposition may seek to recover some of their legal costs from you. For this reason it is always best, if possible, to take legal advice before proceeding with court action.

IBAS are fantastic. James Ironside is a great support.

IBAS have supported me in relation to a claim against Betfred in which they suspended my account and would not pay out my winnings.

The whole team have been fantastic, responded promptly and kept me up to date when Betfred did not.

A special mention to James Ironside who has shows brilliant support, response times so quick and managed to get me the result I wanted.

IBAS are a must for any disputes with betting companies.
