I first encountered Glen at a Christmas market where his stall wasn’t exactly standing out front and centre amongst the glitter and decoration of the usual Christmas market suspects; however, the quality on display caused me to make a quick body swerve and sidle over to cast an eye over the goods for sale. He took the time to explain each item and answer my layman’s questions with patience, honesty and humour; so much so, I walked away with an Elegance Sport Pearl. A beautiful watch on a par with those big names that also utilise the same Valjoux 7750 Swiss movement. Whenever I wear it, it tends to be a conversation starter and has been complemented on a number of occasions. In the interim period since that initial purchase my lovely wife has also bought me a skeleton synchro as a Christmas present and we’ve also used Glen for personalised 40th birthday gifts. Glen and Amanda are amongst those special people you immediately feel at home with. Glen’s background shines through in the quality of the products he builds. The pride he shows in the watches he produces is tangible as is his knowledge of the intricacies of watch building. I am a serial watch collector with a penchant for British Independent watch makers. I came across Glen Anthony watches and after looking for awhile decided to order the Synchro Skeleton Limited Edition Pearl Titanium. I confess the 15% lockdown discount tipped my hand but what I was not expecting was the sheer presence this watch has, it is big in size and to be honest brutal in its industrial design. The motoring influence is clear throughout the design, and although I would not call it a pretty watch it is stunning in its engineering and design. It is quite astonishing, from the numbers that appear stamped from single piece of steel to the break disc bezel and the mother of pearl chapter ring that looks like oil on water- yes I am a big fan.
Now everyone wants their purchase to be perfect but the sign of a good company is how they react when things go amiss. I had a minor issue with the watch, I contacted Glen who said to send it back, within one week the watch was back with me in perfect order, and not only that but Glen sent me a set of watch cuff links (worth £30) by way of amends, which was completely unnecessary and unexpected but greatly appreciated.
