Extranomical Tours, founded in 2002, is a San Francisco sightseeing tour company that specializes in tours for people who generally do not like to take tours. Our clientele is very independent and likes to venture to places where most tour companies don't go to. Due to the small size of our groups, our guests receive a more personalized and exclusive experience from us. Our tours offer a distinct "traveling with friends" feel, so that most people interact with each other and so we are able to visit locations larger vehicles do not. For example, we have a short hike up to the Giant Sequoia grove on our one day Yosemite tour from San Francisco. On our California wine country tours, we visit small family-owned boutique wineries (too small for large buses) that produce such limited quantities you can only buy their wine at their winery!
We are fully insured and licensed by the State of California Public Utilities Commission and are regulated and inspected annually by the California Highway Patrol. We are proud members in good standing at the San Francisco Travel Association. All of our drivers are drug tested at the time of hire as well as at random times throughout the year. We make sure that our vehicles are always in excellent mechanical condition by inspecting daily and keeping a rigid maintenance schedule.
We train all of our guides one-on-one to make sure that they are knowledgeable, courteous, and most of all, safe. All of our guides are also friendly, informative, and experienced. We test drivers on a periodical basis on their knowledge of the areas we visit. We also maintain a training program and a resource library for guides to stay current on relevant material.
We carefully select the locations we explore on our tours to maximize your time and see the best of the best, while always maintaining an adventurous yet easy-going atmosphere. On our tours we have a comfortable amount of time where you are with the group, but we also give you enough time on your own so you can choose from different activities that interest you such as hiking, shopping, museums, or just taking in the beauty.

My wife and I took the Yosemite and Sequoia full day tour. We had a wonderful time. Brian our guide was amazing and had many interesting stories that kept me awake for the whole bus ride. My wife and I had an excellent time and Brian kept us engaged and laughing the whole time. Brian's passion for the area comes out in his trip and we would do it again. Thanks again Brian, your inside info on Yosemite and bathroom rating system were the game changers.

A summer day in Yosemite
This was the perfect nature trip for me as a frequent visitor to San Francisco city. Our guide Gino ensured we saw all the sights, gave interesting commentary, stuck to timings but gave flexibility as needed and prioritised our safety on and off the bus. The park was like a fairy tale to me and I’m so glad I bought my bathers to swim in the cool water of the Merced River after hot summer hike around Yosemite. Watch the time though, other people rely on you to be punctual.

Gino was full of entertaining stories - historic and otherwise - on our Yosemite tour today. We appreciated his efforts with our rather quiet (and I think English-not-first-language) group. We also definitely appreciated his confident driving on those crazy roads.

Great tour in Muir Woods and Sonoma
Great tour. Dustin was a great guide and was very creative to overcome the traffic situation. Overall a great day with good a selection of wines after the calm of Muir Woods.

Die Tour gut
Die Tour gut, vor allem Muir Woods, Sausalito etwas kurz mit 1 h , aber wer länger bleiben will, kann mit dem Ferry fahren gegen Aufpreis. Booking com Buchung war in dem Fall nicht so toll, da die Partner Gesellschaft extranomical die Abholungszeit verändert hat am Abend davor, aber uns nicht gebucht hat. Die Organisation direkt am Abholort hat aber alles geregelt und wir konnten mitfahren.

Great day spending it with Dustin....
We enjoyed our tour with Dustin Rotstein. First off, Dustin was very friendly, went straight to the facts and was very knowledgeable. We started our tour with Muir Woods. WOW! Everyone must go check out the Redwoods. So amazing! So much history and beauty in these woods. I was completely amazed.
Then we continued to Sonoma Valley for wine tasting. Sonoma Valley is so beautiful and they produce great wine!
Onto Napa Valley, again great wine tasting. Dustin being in the culinary industry un the past provided us with great recommendations of where to eat at Sonoma Plaza, and had great wine starting stops. Being from Canada, and not being able to purchase wine from my favorite U.S regions is sad, but was such a great day. We took advantage of tasting great wine. I hope to be back in the future. Great job an reigning us all in Dustin and keeping us in-line and on-time. Your knowledge was greatly appreciated!

Amazing and safe experience
We just returned from an amazing trip to Yosemite and our experience with Sharon was outstanding! She was an exceptional driver, extremely careful and attentive on the road.
