Excellent service across the board

Excellent service across the board. I've been coming to DC in Bath now for over 2 years for prescription glasses, sunglasses and now contact lenses. The team is excellent and they've a great selection of glasses.

It was a great experience I mentioned…

It was a great experience I mentioned to the team on arrival that I have generalised anxiety and health anxiety disorders which always makes these things harder than for a normal person. They were great at dealing with me fully explaining everything in the process. The purchasing of new glasses was very good - the collection not so. I was told that they would be in within a fortnight and I’d get a telephone call - over a fortnight no call so popped into branch and they said oh they will be in on the next day. The actual picking up was excellent and treated really well - just a bit better communication if there are delays in receiving would be great - not even a call just a quick email would do.

Very efficient eye test

Very efficient eye test. I have dry AMD and they are very good at monitoring this with up to date technology. Also the staff are very pleasant

Glad I switched from my previous opticians

I haven't received my glasses yet, but so far my experience has been top notch. Everyone listened to my concerns, made recommendations, and discussed pros and cons of each. I give them 5 stars as I cannot find a reason to deduct any.

Great Experience, will revisit.

I chose David Clulow opticians within John Lewis, Leeds because David Clulow are an opticians that have Chanel frames. They didn’t have the exact ones I was after.
After a lot of communication with Chi at this branch, I’ll eventually get the glasses with the frames I like & suit even though they had to be specially ordered from Italy. The optician was in my personal superb. Best eyesight test I’ve had in years. The thing I valued most was the TIME & explanation. It maybe a 195 mile round trip for me but worth it. I hope my new glasses work for me.

Excellent service and great advice

Felt I had a personal shopper with Chi at the Leeds John Lewis store. The optometrist was simply first class. Spent more than 45 minutes with me, and gave me lots of excellent advice. Looking forward to collecting my 2 new sets of glasses. Previously been a customer at both Bluewater and Selfridges London stores before moving back to north yorkshire

Would recommend

The team are super friendly and knowledgable. My eye test was thorough and the help I received from choosing the lens for my frames was top notch. I also had a demo of the new "hearing" glasses. Very interesting indeed. All in all great experience.

Amazing service from Natalie!

Natalie took me through my eye test and clearly explained how everything was going to work. She was incredibly kind, patient, and informative throughout the whole process, which really put me at ease. She made sure I understood each step and answered my questions thoroughly. Made up for a poor start

I was 10 mins early and met by a very courteous lady at the desk who took my name and guided me to a waiting area. Half an hour later I went back to the desk and shifts had changed and they hadn't been told about me. So not great so far but having found their mistake they were very apologetic, I saw an optometrist immediately and she was excellent. How you deal with mistakes is hugely important and they did that very well. I will return!

All the staff is very friendly and…

All the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing is that when I prescribed my new lenses, the shop said that it took only 24-48 hours to put the new lenses into the frame, but now they said it took four days instead. Caused quite a lot of inconvenience.

Over the Christmas period there was an unavoidable backlog, as our labs reopened on 5th January, which did extend turnaround times. Under normal circumstances, fitting new lenses typically takes around 10 working days, and we always do our utmost to get orders completed and returned as quickly as possible. i have requested some information from you and i will look into this further.

We appreciate that this change in expectation caused inconvenience, and we apologise for not communicating this more clearly at the time. Your feedback is valuable and helps us improve how we manage timescales during busier periods. Thank you again for your understanding.

Unacceptable Delays and Poor Customer Service for a £700 Order

I had a very disappointing experience with David Clulow Opticians at the Oxford John Lewis branch.
I ordered glasses on 26th November 2025, with a total cost of almost £700. I explained at the time that I urgently needed the glasses due to frequent headaches and was told the turnaround would be a couple of weeks.
After three weeks with no update, I contacted the store multiple times. On several occasions, I was put on hold and then disconnected. When I contacted David Clulow customer service, I was told they could not help and that I needed to deal directly with the store.
Before Christmas, I was informed that the glasses had been lost in the post and was told they were now expected by 1st January. When I called again on 4th January, having still heard nothing, I was told the glasses had arrived but needed to be quality checked and would be ready the following day.
Today, I finally received an email stating:
“We have yet to receive the completed product due to quality issues with the lenses. We are happy to try and get this completed for you as soon as possible.”
At this point, after weeks of delays, contradictory information, and poor communication, I explained that I could not wait any longer. I asked to cancel the lenses but was willing to still purchase the frame to avoid further delays, and requested a discount to reflect the appalling service and significant inconvenience.
The response was that no discount would be offered, and my only option was a full refund.
For a premium-priced service, the lack of accountability, inconsistent information, and poor customer care were unacceptable. I would not recommend this branch based on my experience.

Really lovely visit to the Marlow…

Really lovely visit to the Marlow store. Very thorough eye exam. Super helpful in explaining all of the options for me - including compromises etc with contacts given my prescription etc. Really great help with glasses too. Everyone at the branch could not have been more helpful or friendly. Thank you very much.
