Tamara Stone spent an entire HOUR on the phone with me to help me sort out an issue with my order where I received the wrong item. Not only did we sort out a timely swap, but she helped me figure out discounts and ways to earn cash back that I was able to get even more components I needed for a current bike build. I’ve shopped exclusively at JensonUSA for the last decade but Tamara’s helpfulness and patience have convinced me to stick with CC for all my future MTB needs.

Customer of CC for over 20 years. They never shipped my order. Contacted them, they said my payment was declined, which my card company said was bullshit, no order was submitted by Competitive Cyclist. The Competitive Cyclist rep was arrogant and dismissive, offered no help at all. Plenty of other cycling equipment companies out there, use one of them, not Competitive Cyclist or Backcountry.

Absolutely great customer service. They were responsive on the phone when there was an issue of fit for the bottom bracket that I ordered. Order from Competitive Cyclist. Do NOT order from Colorado Cyclist, which has no phone service. IMHO, Competitive Cyclist has every reason to sue Colorado Cyclist for creating confusion in the market place and I'd be happy to be a witness.

Over the years I made cycling purchases at Backcountry / Competitive Cyclist. Each time Tamara S. handled my transaction with grace and efficiency. When it comes to mechanical compatibility among my existing components and new upgrades, I know I can trust her knowledge to get the right parts the first time for proper installation without any surprise. This peace of mind cannot be measured by money but is an important customer experience dimension forged over years of trust and customized service. And did I also mention the price they offer is always competitive? Sometimes it’s so ridiculously competitive that it even beats the price of the same items sold in used condition on eBay. On top of this competitive price, Tamara can often sweeten the transactions further with additional coupons or discounts. Shoppers looking for value do not need to sacrifice for quality when they shop with Tamara’s help at Competitive Cyclist — they can have value and quality at the same time! I’m pretty sure I’m only one of the many satisfied customers that she has convinced to shop at the company. Each transaction is a triple win (customers) - win (Tamara herself) - win (Backcountry) deal!

Once they got acquired by Backcountry, they were ruined from the standard of excellence that they earned from founding to exit. They still have a decent selection of stuff, and their prices are basically reasonable, but service is spotty, same day shipping is a gamble, the website is crude at best, and they don't live up to their promise in any meaningful way. Websites like Amazon have set a high bar, and Competitive Cyclist doesn't measure up. Websites like Sweetwater and Crutchfield just blow Competitive Cyclist out of the water, and Sweetwater and Crutchfield have the customer service and business practices to backup the exemplary website experience. Competitive Cyclist, on the other hand, is an also ran.

Competitive Cyclist isn't what it used to be. I ordered a chainring which showed "in stock" on their web site. 4 days after the order was placed, it still hasn't left SLC. I called to understand why.... both the online chat person and the person I call in to said it was "awaiting pickup" from DHL then being transferred to USPS. If the item is in stock, why would you use and international shipper and USPS to ship an item inside the US? Lack of transparency and honesty is clearly a challenge for these folks. I know it's hard times in the bike business these days, but you need to be up front with customers.

Working with Tamara S. was quite possibly the best customer service experience I've ever had. I don't enjoy shopping but desperately needed some mtb gear and she had great recommendations making it a quick and easy process. Can't wait to order from her again for my next adventure's needs!

I ordered a jersey and bibs, and received a Yamaha part instead. Customer service stated that the jersey was no longer available. They said nothing about a refund. I fortunately went through Seel which guaranteed delivery. Rather than go through any protracted hassles with Competitive Cyclist, I submitted a refund request through Seel. I'll go elsewhere going forward and encourage others to do the same.

It is always pleasurable to do business with Competitive Cyclist. I've been a customer for around ten years now and I am never disappointed with the great service I always receive.
