Cabelas appears to be lying to it's customers.

I purchased ammunition from Cabela's in error

I wanted to return the items for a full refund. The boxes have not been opened and are in new condition. I offered to pay return postage and insurance. I was not allowed to return the items.

I was verbally told by a Cabela's employee that due to ATF (Bureau of and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) regulations ammunition could not be returned.
Their web site says due to safety reasons ammunition can not be returned.

Sheels returns ammunition and pays postage. I do not believe they would return ammunition if it was in violation of ATF regulations.

If a customer returns the ammunition in new condition, in the same box, with the same packaging, and the same shipping company, there will be no more safety concerns as when it was initially sent. an exception to this statement would be if Cabela's return employees were unsafe.

It appears that Cabela's is lying and untruthful to its customers.

Nothing Shipped/arrived

Ordered a gift for my father birthday, with plenty of time. Emailed to follow up about the item and I got a "it will ship soon" reply. Two more emails & a month later I got a sorry we are out of stock thanks for your understanding. Terrible service. I wont order online again from them.

Shipping is terrible!

Do not believe anything when it comes to the delivery times estimated on their site. I have ordered 3 times in the last month and all 3 times my order has yet to ship, much less delivered, on their stated dates. My latest order was to be delivered in 11/4 and as of today, 11/7, the order status is still "awaiting carrier pickup". Try to get the order cancelled and they can't! "Our contract with the carrier states we must wait 7 days before opening a lost item claim"... Carrier hasn't lost the item, it was never picked up! I suspect it is laying on some rack somewhere due to incompetence. This retailer sucks with shipping on time.

NO SERVICE

I left one star because there was not an option to leave a negative star. I bought a Tracker 175 bass boat in September 2021. I did not get to fish it much the first summer. So, wanting to take advantage of the fall weather, I went out fishing only to find the front fish finder was having issues. Due to a recall on the trailer, I took it back to Cabela's and asked them to look at the fish finder while it was there. When I picked it up, they told me it only needed some adjustments. My next trip on the water, both fish finders went completely out. I took it back to Cabela's and dropped it off. After one week of not hearing from them, I called to check on the progress. I was made aware that it had not been touched. I picked it up to use over the weekend and asked the manager to call me when they could fit the boat in to the schedule. It has been another week and I have not heard from them. The moral of the story is, you can buy a boat anywhere. If you want service after the sale, DO NOT BUY FROM CABELA'S!!!

Will never shop cabelas again

I placed an order on Sept 18 for my dads birthday. A week later it still hasnt even been picked up by the carrier and they made a replacement order. Here i am again with an order supposedly shipped out on the 26th of september yet hasnt been picked up by the carrier. Calling in gets you a rude customer agent that tells me i need to wait another 2 days until i can file a complaint then they can replace the order again and give me a $10 gift card for my troubles. I said forget the gift card and cancel the order. Beyond livid at the encounter and will never be shopping again. It shouldnt take 3 weeks for 2 items to not even be shipped out and then for me to be told to wait even longer. Dont ever buy online with this store. Its a total scam

Gift card adventure 7/12/22

My adventure began on 7/12/22, 13:38 check out time, store 0441, transaction 112731. I had three Cabela's gift cards to use. My wife and I looked at clothes, guns and ammunition and signed up to win something with no obligation until it turned into a buy a trip thing, so we moved on to buy a boat battery. I had a core (used batt) to turn in. The battery salesman stated that they would take care of that discount when I checked out with my purchases. I gave the check-out person my three cards wishing to use both smaller amounts and then take the remaining amount off of the larger amounted card. The clerk or till operator complained that they should not have sent me to him with the core battery as that goes to the service desk. He stated he was confused and having a bad day and didn't expect it to get any better. He left the station to check the battery after receiving the form from another person then ran my cards. The first two went well but he stated my larger amount card was no good. Now 'I' was confused and asked for the manager. The manager came over and ran the card with the same results. I asked for any transactions that had been made on the card so I could see how, when, where, I'd been hacked, etc. as I had checked the cards amount on-line and it showed the full amount available. We moved to the service counter were the manager said the card I was using was actually used earlier that day and he himself had processed it. Now I felt I was being accused of taking a used card and attempting to get more from it. I stated my wife had possession of all three cards up until I went through check-out so if the cards got switched it had to have been there. I remembered seeing a pile of gift cards to the right of the cash machine during that time. The manager went over to that station and retrieved a bunch of cards and asked which was ours? He finally ran each one until he did indeed find my original gift card with the funds available. I still had the kiosk card that the gift card came in with the amount written on it. Another sales lady was nice and ran the transaction/purchases and wrote the remaining amount on the card. No apology from the manager on this whole episode. He simply stated he knew what to do now...?
They definitely could use some workplace organization (continuous improvement training) as I stated before the cards were lying loosely next to the cash register instead of having a 'used' and 'in process' marker, box or something to keep them separate until each customer is done.
Unfortunately, my adventure continues as I just checked my card balance on their website and its states it will not accept my card numbers, try again? go figure.

incompetent

On 8/4/22 I ordered 5 boxes of Aguila Super Colibri Rimfire Ammo. I would have ordered more but Cabelas web site stated a limit of 5. I also ordered Hoppes BoreSnake Den Bore Cleaner so that I would get the free shipping. And hours later I was sent an E-mail that they cancelled my Ammo because it was out of stock. I went to their website to cancel the Hoppes BoreSnake Den Bore Cleaner and they told me that it already shipped and I could not cancel the order. I received a message later telling me that my Hoppes BoreSnake Den Bore Cleaner had shipped. I have not received the BoreSnake as of today and I went back to Cabelas and I checked the order and it stated that the Hoppes BoreSnake Den Bore Cleaner just shipped and would not arrive until 4/15/22. Purchased a firearm online for Store to Store ship. It has been 9 days now and was told it is shipping soon and when it does, it will be an additional 7-10 days. This is not the first time I've heard of this happening but the only time I have purchased one from them and the SAME THING HAPPENS. NEVER will order for a store to store ship order. Apparently it's too much for them

Done with cabellas

Done with cabellas. Ordered something from them online two weeks ago, still waiting. They shipped fedex then fedex to the post office. So fedex says talk to cabellas, cabellas says post office has it but no tracking number from post office so no one knows where it is and no one will get up off their butt to find it. Be careful they use fedex smart post....no tracking from usps.

National chain store that has serious…

National chain store that has serious online stocking level inaccuracies. Web site apparently never updates. Online, the store shows an item in stock. In the store, the item is not in stock. Store employee, "It takes 24 hours for the website to update." 3 days straight online shows the item in stock and 3 days straight not in stock at the store. Tell me another one, store employee. I don't know if you wasted my time or if I wasted my time but my time with you is done.

This is a review for the Garner store

This is a review for the Garner store. I purchased a pack of redhead socks that came with 5 instead of 6. Do you know they asked me what time and date I came in to ensure on camera I didn’t remove one of the pair of socks. Really? When trying to use one of my gift cards, the register would not accept it. The customer service rep had the audacity to ask me if I had already used the card. What? Another time I went in to exchange boots (they were running a trade in coupon) I purchased a pair of work boots and Arita boots for a total of 270$. I traded my old work boots and they said it would not apply to my purchase because the work boots came out of the bargain cave. ($114). I told them to just give me my work boots back then suddenly, the coupon was good. Horrible management and customer service. Look at the review score overall for Cabelas. 1.3 out of 5. The only reason I go back because I was given gift cards. After they are used, I’ll never darken their doors again. Who the hell runs these stores. They do give a veteran discount but the cashier rarely keys it in. Huge store with a lot of options but terrible to visit. Like another poster said, they don’t really care about your experience because they never respond to complaints.

Bought a Shimano Reel that I paid over…

Bought a Shimano Reel that I paid over $400 for. It is now 23 days and still nothing (shipping to BP). Supposed to collect at the store. Super stupid slow shipping. I reached out 2x to get an update. The first response was "soon" and when I sent a sarcastic reply - you aren't doing your job email I finally got an answer that my reel was sent out and will take 4-5 days to get here by truck. That was April 17 and still nothing. Guys I made the purchase on April 6th! Why so slow when you are showing stock. That's why I bought from you but it appears that was not true as I have purchased from other local fishing stores and had it shipped out the next day Also there is no way to get an update online or to see your shipping status - you need to get with the times guys. This is pathetic. The local mom and pop shops are doing much better than you guys. This will be my last large fishing purchase from you guys. I feel like I was lied to just to get my order.

Update: following up on my order after 16 days - this is the response: Unfortunately, items purchased to be delivered to the store do not come with tracking. You will have to wait for the store to contact you when it arrives and is ready for pick up.

I find it hard to believe that you cannot get me a better answer - just laziness is all. I work in Manufacturing and EVERY order I ship out I can get an update on its location and ETA, so for Cabela's to say this to me is Bull $#*!

You know management doesn't give a $#*! because they do not respond to any of these bad reviews

Another update. I was told AGAIN by a rep at Cabela's that my reel was shipped on April 17 and would be 4-5 days, That was 9 days ago I got the first email and they just sent me the same email again. Everyday I just keep getting more pissed with this second rate company. Whoever is in charge of customer service deserves to lose their job, a monkey could do better. Cabela's you suck!

Tip for consumers:
DO NOT BUY FROM CABELAS ONLINE - HORRIBLE SERVICE AND TREMENDOUS LACK OF INFORMATION. FRUSTRATION FROM DAY 1 TO NOW 24 DAYS AFTER PLACING MY ORDER. CANNOT GET A REFUND UNTIL THE PRODUCT ARRIVES - HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. SO BAD IN FACT THAT I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INSIDE THEIR STORES AGAIN MUCH LESS ORDER ONLINE - THESE GUYS ARE A JOKE, REALLY. GO TO YOUR LOCAL FISHING STORE WHERE YOU ARE TREATED LIKE A PROPER RESPECTED CUSTOMER. AT CABELAS YOU ARE NOT...............................

Inventory system sucks

Cabela's has great merchandise, if a little bit overpriced. My problem is with their inventory system. I was looking for my favorite seasoning and was told they don't have it in stock. I looked on their website and it showed in stock at the Ashwabenon, WI store. I was told they haven't had it in stock for a long time. If that's the case, then why does it show it's in stock? I'm very disappointed because that's my favorite seasoning.
