Cabela's Holding Money Hostage
Several months ago, I tried to close both of my credit card accounts and the customer service A-hole requested that in order for me to close my accounts I needed to supply them with copies of my tax returns and other personnel information documents. Why they are my accounts, i gave them DOB, SSN, mother maiden, the size of my junk. No, i am not going to give you tax information, birth certificates and whatever else crap they wanted, they have no reason to demand that. So, the A-hole customer service person, now has linked my account to fraud and when i call i get routed to the fraud department and these real A-holes want DNA samples, birth certificates, tax returns, bull-s--t. Now I have over $500 credit and they will not give it back to me. Nope, nada, must provide tax returns, birth certificate and more.
I know most of you will say go in and spend the $500 on something and be done with it. No, I will not give these jack-apes a penny.
Yes, I am pissed, this has gone on long enough. I am going to cool down for a day and write a case and send the complaint to the States Attorney's Office, most likely they are going to blow me off. so next step in the FTC.
This is just ridicules.
So, the moral of the story is "DO NOT BY S--T FROM CABELA'S" and maybe they might do something, how many others are they holding money hostage to make you come in and spend it in their store.

Inventory is too plain…lots of overpriced clothes though….lol…place needs a complete rebuild. Must be a horrible CEO—it starts at the top. Bought a 2023 Tracker Targa with a Mercury 225 Pro XS outboard from Cabela's in Gainesville, Virginia.
Before I bought the boat I noticed the engine was mounted too high on the transom and I said so to the dealer. They told me that it was installed that way at the factory and was standard. I've installed my share of outboards and know that was incorrect. I let it slide as I was unfamiliar with a deep-V hull.
When I got it out on the water (the second time) for the 2 hour break in period I noticed cavitation at higher RPMs (above 2800) and water coming back over the transom while on plane. I sent a video to the service manager of this event. The transducer was mounted too low and could be the cause of the water splashing over the transom.
First time on the water, within the first 5 mins the engine had a fault involving the shift actuator and the boat began taking on water into the bilge due to a hole in a hose for the live well and a missing live well drain plug. The trailer was missing the hubcap covers that were listed as part of the bill of sale and the fuel gauge did not work at all. When I looked to try to find the leak I found the bilge full of pieces of insulation and screws from the manufacture of the boat.
I took it to back Cabela's and they were not able to look at it for a week due to a 'software issue' with their diagnostic computer.
Once they did look at it they weren't able to find anything wrong and told me to take it back out on the water to do the 2 hour break in. I did so, and around the 2 hour mark I got three faults on my Vesselview app. The same shift actuator fault, and a low charging voltage followed by a high charging voltage within the next few minutes. I returned to the dock and on the way I heard some rattling noises in the engine. It was loaded onto the trailer and taken back to Cabela's. They still have it. I have yet to be contacted by the service department since it was returned last week (5 days ago).
I am missing the spring shad run and the largemouth pre-spawn which was a huge factor in my purchase of this boat as well as previously planned recreation time with friends and family.

If you purchase a firearm from them you will pay top dollar. If you're trying to sale them your firearm they will only offer you less than half it's value. I purchased a ruger m77 308 plane Jane with scratches etc for almost $1300. To recoup some of the cost I offered to sale them my ruger m77 Hawkeye 270. Near perfect condition( knowing the book value) they offered me $600. Am I wrong? How is this fair?
Purchasing products that will not last the full expiration time span.
I purchased three pepper sprays pocket model and one pepper gel cross fire. It has a shelf life of 3-4 years. One expired in 2 years, the other 3 in 3 years. If I wanted to purchase something that would be unreliable in less than its recommended shelf life, I would have purchased it from Amazon. When I called customer service I was told that it just needs to be purchased again in 3 years. I'm a senior and purchasing these for friends. We are trying to feel safe. And living on a set income doesn't allow us to make these kind of purchases often. Cabela's is very disappointing. Now I see why Amazon is doing so well. We can't trust our hometown companies anymore. Very sad. Shame on you Cabela.
Service Department
I ordered a new boat from Cabela's. When it came in Cabela's installed all the accessories I purchased from them ( Active Target,HDS 12, 24v trolling motor, 2 bank charger. I've had nothing but problems with the electronics. I took pictures if the wiring and showed the staff at the store. They told me it was wired all wrong and that they would charge me to undo the the current wiring and charge me to wire it properly. I paid $1,430.00 for labor when I picked up the brand new (over $50k)boat. Then they tell me it will be 3 weeks before I can drop the boat off and another 3 weeks before they will look at.
Cabela's Going Down Hill
Heading to Florida for vacation and the opportunity to hunt the predatory, over-populated pythons. Looking for .38 Special Snake shot shells, checked on line and saw that Cabela’s has them in stock. The day before we are heading out I received an advertisement saying “order before 1pm and pick-up the order the same day. I thought, why play around, so I ordered 2 boxes on-line around 11:30. We headed out to the store around 4pm, figuring that if they haven’t pulled them yet, we can just go get them for ourselves and cancel the order. When we arrived, we went to the Service Counter to see if the pickup order was ready. It was not and the woman at the counter stated that “it can take a couple of days” until I told her about the “same day pickup” ad that I had received. I said I would go back and get them myself and she indicted that “there are 16 in stock”. Then, you guessed it! When I went to look for them and found 9mm only, I asked one of the floor employees who clearly knew that there were no .38 special snake loads. When we returned to the Service Counter to express our frustration, the woman indicated that “we wouldn’t be charged for them”. Really? How generous! I would usually suggest that you call first, but chances are that you will get the same clueless individual who screwed-up the inventory in the first place.
Order cancelled without any notification
I have placed an order with this company. But my order has been cancelled without any notification and explanation. I have contacted the customer support via chat and they told me that my order was cancelled by fraud department. That was the only explanation I heard from them. Why would they cancel my order when I pay upfront with debit card? What kind of fraud can there be in this order? This is a self-destructive behaviour by the fraud or it department. I would never recommend anyone dealing with this company.
Worst Customer Service in Green Bay, WI
Waiting at Cabelas in Green Bay for 48 min at the gun counter, it was not busy. Staff would walk by and not say a word. After 55 min I waved my hand and asked Paul if I could get some help, he ignored me. I asked if I could get some service, he said wait your turn. Helping more than one customer or acknowledging the other customers around would have been fine with me, but being ignored or not even acknowledged is horrible customer service. After I pickup my gun I will close my Cabela's account and never shop at a Cabelas or Bass Pro ever again.

Saturday morning my son and I stood at the knife/GPS counter waiting for Devin to wrap up his conversation with a customer. I was interested in looking at a Garmin watch. While Devin was chatting, another customer came over letting Devin know that someone had been waiting at the gun counter for almost an hour, to which Devin replied, there's nothing he can do about it. By this point, I have made eye contact multiple times with Devin. Now the first customer he had been chatting with was gone, but a 3rd customer came to the counter while my son and I still waited. Eventually, Devin went to the opposite corner of the counter, that's when we left. This I am finding typical among large business.

Absolutely Horrible, i placed an order Dec 1 and still have yet to receive it, they said it would be delivered December 28 but guess what still haven't gotten it, these were Christmas gifts and also for our very first grandbaby, never again will I order from Cabela's
Order cancelled without notification
I placed an order at the beginning of December. I realized after Xmas that it did not arrive. When I pulled up my order number I was informed it had been cancelled. I was never notified. I called customer support who informed me it was cancelled by the fraud department and I should have automatically received notification. I was also told this by the manager. When I called the fraud department they said the computer does not send cancellation notifications. Why would you ever cancel an order without notification????? I was told it was because my IP address was from Germany. Nothing else on my order stated Germany. I use a VPN. This is common practice these days. If your IT department does not understand this then they should be fired. Even this should not keep you from sending an email notification. I will never order from your company again and will inform everyone I know not to as well.
Bad product, no service after the sale
I bought a gun safe offline from Cabelas. Going on my previous experiences buying from them no more. I opened the safe to see that the adhesive that held the carpet liner was inadequate and the lining was falling off the interior. Soon after the elock quit working. I tried to get the safe replaced from. Heritage safe the advised $50. & a new lock. Take it or leave it. With no upholstery shops close by. That wouldn't work. I called Cabelas. They offered a $50 in store gift card. 3 times. I refused. I asked Cabelas customer service if I could just return it to the store that I picked it up from. I was told no. I asked again. A customer service manager said that I could not. He said the only way that it could be returned was by freight as it was purchased online. I agreed to have it ready to ship. 2 days later Cabelas emailed me that to call the freight company and make arrangements to have the safe shipped at a cost of $207.xx. I called Cabelas customer service. They had no record of any previous conversations it her than the email. They said that I had refused to return the safe to the store.
Blaming the 3rd Party Manufacturer
I decided to order some items from Cabelas after several years, including optics and flashlights. The flashlights never arrived, and when I contacted Cabela's they tried to blame the manufacturer, from whom it ships. They don't seem to take ownership of the customer experience. I order from Cabela's and I expect Cabela's to deliver the items successfully. Their customer service response time is lacking as well, I have to keep reaching out to them. I have a lot to do and don't have time to continue the back and forth. I wish they would just correct their mistake and handle it on the first communication. Finally, another customer service agent processed the refund this afternoon. They really need to start tracking their 3rd party manufacturers when they ship directly from them, so a customer can see what is happening.
Ineffective package tracking
I ordered two fruitcakes on December 11, 2022. I only received one and called Josh at customer service. He said there was no way to track the other package. The shipping manifest had two fruitcakes shipped but only one arrived. Josh said the next day I would receive a cancellation of the second fruitcake because we expected it to arrive with the other one. I did not receive the notice of cancellation as promised. Cabela's passed the buck because it was dropped shipped by a bakery. Josh also declined to give me an immediate credit although the invoice came directly from Cabela's, not the third party bakery. If Cabela's can't stand behind it's products or service, but instead shifts the remedy to the third party, then I would never again recommend any online business with Cabala's. Josh should have been empowered to issue a credit to my credit card IMMEDIATELY! This is a serious flaw in your customer service!
