It was bought as a gift, so checked it over 1st & it was really lovely, better than the online image.

I have been dealing with Bonsai Direct for years. I have had my successes and failures along the way, and I always mourn when a tree dies, as they are living things.
I recently had a problem with my Chinese Sweet Plum, a recent addition to my collection. It dried out, and the leaves became crisp, so I contacted Bonsai Direct for advice.
Initially, Bonsai Direct thought that it was still alive, so they gave me advice to follow and I took great care to follow it. However, when it consistently showed no improvement I sought their advice again. Sadly, despite my best efforts, I had been unable to save it, and I was heartbroken.
Bonsai Direct were very sympathetic as they know how attached people become to their Bonsai. They very kindly offered me a discount should I wish to buy a replacement. They didn't have to do that; it was done out of the goodness of their hearts.
What customer service!! It wasn't their fault that the Bonsai died; yet they were willing to offer me a discount!
I took them up on their offer, and my replacement Bonsai arrived today. As usual, well hydrated and thoughtfully packed to ensure that the tree suffers as little trauma as possible during transit.
A bonus is that all of their trees are individually photographed and put on their website, so the tree you pick is the actual tree which you receive.
To anyone thinking of buying a Bonsai, I would recommend Bonsai Direct with no hesitation. Not necessarily due to price; you can get cheaper Bonsai elsewhere. However, what matters with Bonsai Direct is their ongoing support and aftercare.
Your relationship with them doesn't end at the till. They are there with you along your Bonsai journey, willing to offer help and advice on any problem you may encounter. I have been dealing with them since 2013, so that shows how much they value both their trees and their customers. They grow their own Bonsai, so are truly invested in every single tree which they sell.
Absolutely top notch service, provided in a friendly manner, and with great love and care for the trees which they produce and sell, and also for the customers they sell them to.
Highly recommended.
I can't say any more.

I really wanted a bonsai for my Birthday
I really wanted a bonsai for my Birthday. I looked at various online Bonsai retailers. I loved the fact that this is a Father and Daughter business with 30 years and 20 years experience respectively. It's evident they are very passionate about Bonsai. I also loved the Bonsai trees they had for sale and felt that I would be getting a really beautiful tree. I wasn't disappointed. The whole experience was excellent. I ordered on Wednesday afternoon and received my beautiful Serpentine Dwarf Chinese Elm on Friday morning. It arrived perfectly packaged and exactly as in the online photo. It also had great instructions for unboxing it and caring for it. I am over the moon and will definitely be back for another. I highly recommend Bonsai Direct.

Beginners bonsai kit
Bought the beginners kit for my wife’s birthday and she absolutely loves it. Her tree arrived in perfect condition and the equipment (informative book,food trimming scissors and watering can)really topped it off. Disappointing
So disappointed with my tree that had bought April 2025 in loving memeory of my Nan and Grandad that passed withing a few months if each other.
Despite following all the care instructions it was dead within 6 months.
Tried all sorts to bring it back and still have the remains of what is just brittle twig in hope after spending £100 on it 😥

I've looked into your order and can only find a purchase from April 2025 (I cannot be sure if this is your order without your confirmation), but I can't find any emails or messages from you letting us know the bonsai was struggling or asking for advice. Had we known, we would have been more than happy to help. We regularly guide customers through care concerns and, in many cases, are able to help bonsai recover before it's too late.
If you still have the tree, or even just some photographs of how it declined, we'd really appreciate the opportunity to take a look. Even if it does appear to be dead, we'd like to understand what happened and offer any advice we can.
Please do get in touch with us directly. We're always here to help and would much rather have the opportunity to assist than for you to be left feeling disappointed.

Amazing quality product and customer service
The quality of the Bonsai purchased was excellent and was more impressive than the photographs on the website. Due to the size of the bonsai and its pot the company could not offer a matching glazed ceramic drip tray, so I purchased a plastic drip tray. This did not do the Bonsai justice, I had paid £1,100, for the tree. I asked the company if a custom made drip tray could be made. The company searched its nursery and found a ceramic drip tray which was not the exact same colour or quality and offered this free of charge only asking for the delivery cost. I found the customer service and quality product excellent. If I could I would award the company 10 stars
