Do not buy Asko!
My previous Asko dishwasher was excellent but after 10 years needed replacing. I didn't hesitate to buy another Asko however I wish I had read all these reviews as the new dishwasher is a complete dud.
It stopped working after 5 months (drain pump fault) and I have been dealing with the incompetent service centre since September.
The service people have no integrity as they don't do what they say they will do. After 6 weeks of calling them repeatedly with no action from them I asked to speak to the service manager, which apparently is not allowed. You have to send an email which I suspect will also go unanswered.
They seem unaware of basic consumer rights and while none of us will probably see any joy from Asko we can warn other consumers not to purchase their products in Australia.
Terrible product and Customer Service.
Terrible product and Customer Service.
Bought a Dishwasher D5436XL 8 years ago. It’s the 3rd time I’ve had a problem with it since the warranty expired. First, it was the handle, then the detergent dispenser which both had to be replaced at my own cost + labour. Now it looks like the control board is on its way out as the cycle stops half way through and starts from the beginning and then repeats all over again until you turn the appliance off. So I called Customer Service to gauge whether it was worth having it repaired. I have a Bosch dishwasher in a rental unit that’s 16 yo and not once have I had to repair it.
I spoke to the rudest person on the phone. You’d think that they’d adopt a friendlier tone considering their products keep falling apart despite being marketed as high-end appliances but no.
I do not recommend. Won’t bother with the repair and buy a brand new Bosch instead.
Premium price, bargain-bin service - not what anyone signs up for.
We purchased an Asko washing machine and dryer in late 2023 and have had ongoing issues with both appliances.
The dryer has been a nightmare. Asko came out numerous times to try to repair it, only to finally replace the motor after several visits. Now, just weeks later, it’s already broken down again, and they’ve had to replace yet another part because it kept making loud banging noises. Instead of acknowledging this is a faulty unit and replacing it, Asko continues to drag things out with more “goodwill” repairs now that the warranty has technically expired. Completely unacceptable given the repeated failures during the warranty period.
The washing machine has also caused major problems. It leaked earlier this year and damaged our brand-new cabinetry. Despite clear video proof and obvious water damage, Asko initially refused to accept responsibility because it wasn’t leaking during their first service visits. After countless emails and follow-ups, they finally admitted the door wasn’t sealing properly - but only after making the process unnecessarily difficult and stressful.
Customer service has been consistently rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. My last conversation with a service staff member was particularly insulting: when I tried to share my experience and give feedback, he brushed me off by saying they “get a lot of time wasters.” Well, Asko - your customer service is the real time-waster.
This entire ordeal has disrupted our busy family life and taken up far too much of our energy - time we should be spending on our family, not chasing endless repairs. If I had the energy, I’d take this matter further, but for my own peace of mind, I’ll settle for leaving this review. Hopefully it saves someone else from making the same mistake.
As a designer, I will never recommend Asko to any of my clients and will actively advise them to avoid your appliances. Premium price, bargain-bin service - not what anyone signs up for.
Broken after 5 months been waiting over a month for solution …
After only 5 months of owning and brand new $2k+ dishwasher, it has a major failure and getting F54 failure. We have been going through loops hole for over a month with no repair date.
When the dishwasher works, it’s great, the customer service is dreadful and not supportive. Still no end in site.
Stay away from ASKO
I am surprised that ASKO can operate in Australia after selling items that don't work and do nothing about it. We purchased an Oven from Asko and it never works properly, however Asko customer service does everything not to help you at all
Not recommended
Not recommended - we are hundreds of dollars out of pocket and without the dishwasher we ordered. Asko refused to complete the installation but never followed through on the refund they committed to.
Asko front load washer is a LEMON!
I took delivery of an Asko front loader washer yesterday afternoon and did my first load of light washing last night. There's a terrible burning smell and a burn mark on the back of the so called stainless steel drum! What? How did that happen? I called Good Guys, who I purchased it through and they can't help, I have to go direct to Asko, who aren't open until Monday apparently and I have washing to do. I called Asko today, Saturday, they answered and all they can do is book a technician to come out and inspect. They won't arrange for the washer to be picked up and replaced this weekend, so I can do my washing. The load I washed smells of burnt electrical smell. What am I supposed to do? I paid an extra $100 for installation and was told it was ready to use. What a disaster. And I'm now seeing this is a common issue. If only I saw that before I bought it. I asked Good Guys to replace it with another washer, but they won't. They'll stock Asko and take orders, but won't help with a problem. Terrible on both fronts.
I'm out $1,998 and can't wash my clothes. I have to wait a whole week before a technician will come out to inspect.
Door sticker says made in Slovenia. There's nothing Scandinavian about this product, or at least the so called quality! I hate that I bought this brand. Asko is no longer a high quality product, in my opinion!
Scandinavian inspired but not Scandinavian built and certainly not Scandinavian quality
I have an Asko 2048C washer which is about six years old. From when it was three years old the front panel has been rusting where the front panel meets the top panel. I complained to Asko but there only response was that it was out of warranty and they couldn't do anything about it. It has now started to leak. I have looked up reviews on these washers and now find there it is apparently many Asko washers that start leaking after they are out of warranty. Asko washers are represented as premium machines, but I don't regard a washer that starts rusting within three years if purchase or starts leaking within six years off purchase when it is only used a few times a week as a premium machine. Asko washers were premium washers but that was when they were made in Sweden. They still have some unique features but they inherited those from their Swedish origins. However, don't be deceived by the "inspired by Scandinavia" slogan. They are not the machines that they once were. I previously owned an early Asko washer and it went for over 15 years before it finally started to wear out through heavy use. However, my present machine is not in the same league. If you want a rusting, leaking appliance then go ahead and buy one. Otherwise, look for a machine that is truly premium.
Terrible installation and too expensive…
Terrible installation and too expensive for what these are. I was told by Asko sales person that agency provided installer will come to the house to install it well. On the day two dudes came up looking they hate their jobs and installed the unit yelling at each other. Finally couldn’t install the kick plate and blamed the cabinetry and left after partially complete job.
Their argument was that cavity is too small for the kick plate, but I measured it and showed them the dimensions are exactly as Asko manual recommends. I complained to the head office asking to fix or refund the installation money as I could clearly see they installed the unit aligned to the left rather than in the middle of the cavity but no refund or offer to help other than asking more money to fix my cabinetry to install the kick plate.
Very disappointed. I opted for Asko dishwasher after seeing how elegant and well designed unit with excellent cleaning capabilities but left with disgust and disappointment.none existent after service or customer care.
0 stars - avoid at all costs
0 stars. Buyers beware- faulty oven for over 6 months and still not repaired. Asko are slow and unresponsive. After approx 5 months of waiting I asked to speak with the service manager and I was refused they said “sorry I can’t”. I don’t request to speak to managers ever, literally the first time in my life because they sent the incorrect part to the technician, which took months for the technician to even receive.
Still waiting for it to be fixed….. The correct part took another month, and it’s still not working despite that part being successfully installed now. Same issues with the oven becoming unresponsive during use and turning itself off.
Not even a simple apology for the inconvenience has been had from Asko.
Avoid at all cost. Will never buy anything Asko for the remainder of my life and will also advise others to avoid.
Imagine not being able to use a brand new oven for 6 months which costed over $3,000 brand new.
ASKO bad service, bad products and will not refund money.
My husband & I purchased an ASKO dishwasher in June 2023. Since purchase we have had the same fault 3 times.
Our last experience was the worst with regards to their service. I had to contact them 3 times before they would even acknowledge that there was a problem. (Do not use their online service booking as they won't respond). Once we were finally booked for service the technician had to come out twice (really nice subcontractor) before he decided that the dishwasher could not be fixed.
Then once again heard nothing from Asko. Contacted them several times before we finally got an answer that the warranty had been approved 6 days before the last contact and that the warranty department would contact us to organise the removal of the dishwasher. You guessed it no contact again.
Waited another week before I finally contacted them again when they finally booked me is for the next week for the dishwasher to be removed. Even though I told them several times that they would have to remove the Dishwasher we were contacted the afternoon before pick and told that we would have to remove it and have it ready for pick the next morning. As a result, my 62 yo husband and I, both with health issues, had to remove the unit.
The unit was pick up the next day, a Thursday, and we were told that it would be returned to their warehouse on Friday. Once again, they have not bother to contact us to arrange the refund. As it has now been 8 weeks since the dishwasher originally broke down and a full week since they took the unit back, I contacted them again about the refund. We were told they would get back to us at 4pm. If you guessed it, they didn't you were right.
$7000 for a Condensor Dryer Cupboard…
$7000 for a Condensor Dryer Cupboard and they leak!!! When the issue first occurred, we were provided with a replacement. The replacement was dented and was returned by the delivery drivers. A second replacement arrived weeks later and this also leaks. They have spent weeks "reviewing" the technician report and will not co-ordinate a replacement. We have had weeks of nonresponse. Shit service and still not sure if this is an issue with the product.
Stay away from their dishwashers
Stay away from their dishwashers. We purchased this machine in December 2023, in the 1.5 years of ownership we have had to have a technician out three times and have needed to call. the service centre 6x times.
- The door locking mechanism failed within the first month of ownership, meaning you couldn't close the door to run a cycle, a tech came out and repaired it
- The door locking mechanism failed again, a soft reset restored it.
- The powerboard for the machine stopped working, called the service centre and had to complete a power cycle - this continues to happen and it's apparently "expected" that you need to disconnect the machine from the mains every now and again to get it working again. I owned a Miele machine for 10 years before asko and never once needed to do a hard power cycle. I continue to need to do this every few months.
- Tech came out again because the door locking mechanism failed. They repaired it.
- Locking mechanism failed again - I called up asko asking for a refund on the machine as it's clearly a faulty unit - they refused.
- Again today the locking mechanism has failed, called asko - completed a soft reset and it started working again.
Having to do some kind of reset on a $2,500 machine every few months is ridiculous. The machine only has a warranty for 24 months - I know that I won't get much life out of this machine post warranty.
Asko Dishwasher not fit for purpose
In January 2020, I purchased (on special) an Asko Dishwasher DW16.1D5456S ASK, Model No. D5456S for $1,777.00, comprising the costs for the dishwasher, delivery and installation of the dishwasher, and extra warranty. I made this purchase well beyond the price range of previous dishwashers I have owned to ensure the product was of efficient and reliable quality.
Within two years of my purchase of the dishwasher, I observed significant wearing of the identification buttons on the control panel, which necessitated the replacement of the control panel. This was repaired (although in 2025 the replacement control panel is again displaying the same wear of the previous panel).
In July 2022, a water leak from the door and an ‘F10’ fault occurred. These faults resulted in service calls to our home in July, September and finally late October, when the faults were repaired - a significant period of 15 weeks.
In October 2023, the hinges on the dishwasher failed and required replacement.
In February 2025, the dishwasher was tripping the switchboard safety switch resulting in loss of power to our home. Despite the external warranty expiring on 9 January 2025, I contacted the external warranty provider. Given the unreliable nature of the dishwasher and the lengthy periods of time when it was not fit for purpose, I believed the warranty should have been honoured, however the external warranty provider had a contrary view.
I emailed Asko on 21 February, 2025 for financial consideration as I believe this product was never fit for purpose. I was advised to contact the service agent in my area as Asko was not prepared to financially assist in this matter. The service call occurred on 10 March, 2025 at a cost of $170.50. A faulty element was identified and quoted for repair at $393.80. In total, a cost of $564.30. I proceeded with the repair given payment for the service charge by the ASKO agent of $170.50 is not negotiable. It would be impossible to purchase a new dishwasher beneath the cost of $393.80, so I deemed it necessary to proceed. It is now 15 April and our dishwasher is not yet returned to us as it was also discovered it has a water leak - the service agent is still waiting for the replacement part from Asko.
NOTE: The dishwasher has been inoperable for a collective period of approximately six months since its purchase in January, 2020!
Given the extremely poor service record of the dishwasher, which has resulted in extensive periods of inoperability and unreliability, I firmly believe the dishwasher’s performance is not consistent with ASKO’s advertised claim of ‘durability and longevity’ and was never fit for purpose. Asko are not replying to my emails of complaint. I will never again buy an Asko dishwasher.
Hopeless product
Hopeless dishwasher, incredibly disappointed. The panel gave up after 6 months, Asko's recommendation "just keep turning it off and on". This worked for awhile but when we rang them back to say this no longer works, the response was that we had accepted the workaround so no longer covered by warranty. We have now raised a case with Fair Trading.
Leaking outlet hose washer & dryer …
After washer & dryer were installed the outlet hose attachment started leaking. Asko 'service' said it was my responsibility to get a plumber even though the leaks only started after the new washer & dryer were installed.
Do not buy anything ASKO
Do not buy anything ASKO. They were once decent but now overpriced, cheaply made products that do not last the distance and the company has zero interest in helping you if something is wrong with ASKO appearing to take no accountability for substandard quality and longevity.
Actually "technical" support is not offered by Asko
I called Asko's technical support line as my dishwasher had stopped working in the wash part of the cycle without throwing any error messages. I have received advice that it could be the motor or the capacitor so I called Asko to help troubleshoot (this is what the call Support centre allegedly offers). the first operator told me he wasn't technical and to hard reboot the dishwasher, and call back to speak to a technical specialist if that didn't work, which I did. When I called back they said there was no technical specialist who would talk to customers. Don't expect any actual support if you have a problem - it's just a way for them to book in one of their repair people for multiple visits and more money for them as they won't even try to diagnose the problem up front.
Paid premium price poor quality and support
Paid premium price for what I thought was a premium product. Basically just out of warranty. $2.5k Dishwasher - Pump fails….dont stock the parts for a still current/ sold product, just expected to wait months for parts to come from overseas.
Failure looks like a design flaw as well.
I’d think twice. Premium price which in my case had a super below poor lifespan and in the end no reasonable way to service due to unavailability of parts.
Do not buy this product!
If I could, I would give it 0 points. This product is a huge disappointment. The cleaning system is terrible. You can't properly clean the oven, and when you cook with steam, all the uncleaned dirt ends up in your food. If you clean it after every use to avoid food contamination, you’ll end up damaging several functions. In my case, the cleaning system no longer works at normal temperature, and the temperature sensor is broken.
And finally, the worst part—I tried contacting a repair team. It costs $200 just for them to come and diagnose the issue, another $200 for them to return with the replacement part, plus the cost of the repair and the defective part itself. Seriously? I might as well add $200 more and get a new oven!
My advice? Do not buy this product. Never ever.
