EUR 215 order not delivered and AE is ghosting
I placed an order in October that was marked as delivered by PostNL, but I never received it. PostNL informed me I had to contact AEO. After three emails, I finally received a response asking me to confirm it hadn’t been delivered to my neighbours and to let AE know if it still arrived. I confirmed this straight away (and it still hasn't been delivered to this day).
Since then, it’s been 3+ weeks of *complete* silence. I’ve sent multiple follow-up emails and "new" inquiries via their website contact form asking for an update on the investigation or a proposed solution, and I’ve had no response at all even though they say they aim to get back to you within one working day.
At this point, I’m out EUR 215 with no products, no update, and no indication that AEO is taking responsibility. This is far below the level of service I expect from any retailer, let alone a brand I’ve been loyal to for years.
My wardrobe is full of AE jeans bought in-store and via other retailers, but after this experience I won’t be ordering through the AE Europe website again. The absence of communication and ownership is genuinely some of the worst service I’ve experienced. I expect my order to be delivered or a full refund to be issued without further delay.

I bought some shirts for my boyfriend as a gift and he was so excited that he took the tag off the first one without thinking that it may not fit.. it ended up being too short on him. They will not give me a refund because the tag was detached or let me exchange for another size. They could easily reattach the tag but would rather lose me as a customer! They could easily look at my order history and see I’ve purchased lots of clothing from them and have an AE credit card which I will now be canceling ! Terrible customer service

spijker broek besteld , maar kreeg een trainings broek voor iemand in Great Britain geleverd! Die terug gestuurd en hoorde daar weken niks meer van. Toen weer gemaild hoe het zat met mn retour? Nou die was nog niet verwerkt en mn geld zou terug gestordt worden na verwerking retour! Na nog is 2 wk wachten op mn geld , weer gemaild met klantenservice en toen weer een verhaal over ,, vertraging" en nu hoor ik net ( inmiddels + 6 wk bezig) Dat mn geld nu is overgemaakt , maar kan nog 10 dagen duren voordat het geld op mn bank verschijnt!!! Ik ben benieuwd!! Maar dat zou dan +8 weken zijn voordat je retour rond is ...Als het geld komt????
Great Pants for the Price, Size the Length Up, Though
The fabric on the American Eagle Lived-In Flex Cargo Pants is what I would say is a midweight 98% cotton / 2% spandex blend that moves with you. Overall fit is slightly relaxed, the look is a slightly distressed vintage wash. Waist sizes are true to size, with 2 tabs on the back to customize the fit. The website offers 32", 33" and 34" waist sizes and I opted for 34 for a looser fit. There are a total of 7 pockets - the flaps lay flat and are fastened with snaps that work easily. Actual inseam is 4" shorter than listed and had to go with a 34" length to get my usual 32" look. The colors on the website are very close to what you get and online orders can be returned/exchanged at a local store. Customer service there was excellent. Recommended.

We tried to exchange a pair of jeans, never worn only tried on, but since the tags were removed from them YET still in the bag with the receipt ,AE refused aa exchange but offered to give us a $10 store credit. They are $50 dollar jeans new we wanted and exchange for a different fit. I called customer service but they were hard to understand but still refused to help with an exchange. Will never buy from there again. IF that is AEs policy then they need to train the employees to tell people this when they purchase an item that way the customer is aware of the terrible policy. We told everyone we saw walking in the store they need to be careful about buying from there and if they bought something be sure and NOT remove the tags and to be 100% sure they like the item and that it fits because even if it's a gift to someone you're screwed on a refund or exchange once the tags are cut off.

Their customer service is poorly trained. They makes promises they don't keep and after years of spending thousands I'm done with their crap. I just put in an order with Urban Outfitters and Hollister! AE is getting kicked to the curb!
HORRIBLE Customer “Service”
I bought a white bikini with pink trim on sale for around $10 and the first time I washed it, it came out with pink stains all over the white part! I sprayed it with stain removal, and washed it again, still stained. I kept this process up over several washes until this past weekend when the pink trim stained two additional clothing items (dumb to wash it with other clothes I now realize, but water is expensive). I reached out to American Eagle only to be told “after careful review, we regret to inform you that we are unable to grant an exception to our return policy.” I have been a LOYAL AE customer for over 20 years and have NEVER attempted to get “something for nothing” from them! If I was attempting to con them, I think I’d try to get more than $10!!! Not to mention the ruined clothing thanks to this shoddy product!! Absolutely insane that they would treat a formerly loyal customer like this!!

Don't pay via PayPal. I recently ordered 2 pairs of Jeans and 1 shirt. I paid £125 as the initial authorisation however upon despatch there was 1 pair of jeans not in stock and as such the charged amount was reduced to £75.
American Eagle near 4 weeks later have not reduced the authorisation from £125 to £75 and £50 has been stuck.
After 3 weeks of back and forth and needing to raise as a complaint to PayPal, I have been told this is an issue down to American Eagle as they did not reduce the Authorisation.
The Authorisation will cancel itself it the next few days but American Eagle are the worst.. for a company as big as they are, they are horrible at finance.

Never shop with American Eagle
I placed an order and did not receive the item I ordered. I received an incorrect item which had someone else’s name and address contained on the receipt inside (serious GDPR breach) - someone may also have my name and address if my order was sent incorrectly to someone else.
I had to return the item and wait for a refund, they would not provide an exchange for the item I actually ordered. Plus the refund appears to be minus the shipping cost (£10) which is ridiculous considering I didn’t ever receive the item I ordered - I would understand the shipping not being refunded in normal return circumstances such as the item doesn’t fit or if I didn’t want it anymore.
Unfortunately their customer service was unhelpful and I will not be ordering from this business again.

Ik wilde het merk een keer proberen. Sturen ze mij een broek op voor een klant uit Duitsland. Klantenservice kun je niet bellen en op mails krijg je alleen automatische reacties terug. Dus maar gewoon via de site retourlabel aangevraagd. Daar kon ik wel aanvinken dat ze mij de verkeerde bestelling hebben gestuurd. Alles duurt nu al weken. Krijg ik vandaag eindelijk bericht dat het artikel is ontvangen. Maar niet het hele bedrag terug krijg. Ik moet de verzendkosten betalen terwijl het hun fout is. Wat een amateurs.. ik denk ik probeer het merk een keer. Heb maar weer gewoon een levi besteld. Die kunnen wel gewoon leveren wat ik bestel en de volgende dag in huis. Absolutely horrible company to do business with. Bought a pair of jeans, had to return based on sizing fit. They've had them back just over 3-months now. I've still not received an email acknowledging my return, my refund, or any communication. Just WOW! Guess it's a good thing their jeans are only $30-$40 on average. Cheap, like their service and ethics in how they're doing business. Stay far, far AWAY from them. Look at the rest of their reviews too, seems almost everyone is unhappy with them as well.

Unfortunately, in reply to this request, they simply informed me that after careful review, no exception could be granted, again prioritizing strict policy adherence over customer satisfaction.
I am deeply disappointed by these repeated denials, which demonstrate a rigid and unempathetic approach to what was a genuine and minor issue. As a long-time customer, I expected better from American Eagle, especially when the item was undeniably in unworn, resalable condition. This bad-faith enforcement of the policy has eroded my trust in the brand and makes me hesitant to shop here in the future. I hope the brand reviews this case and reconsiders their stance, as accommodating reasonable exceptions like this would go a long way toward maintaining customer loyalty.
