DOES NOT PROTECT LENDERS AT ALL

Super shady company, most likely being used to scam and steal from others.
Initially they reached out to me on fatlama and said they cloned all my listings on fatlama and asked me to join them, saying they have the best insurance and customer protection

A user on wedio rented from me on their platform and delayed on returning the gear and I informed wedio and they said no it's fine don't worry we trust the user, and then later down the line it turned out this guy sold my gear. Then when wedio was asked to pay under their global insurance they declined and this happened to about 35+ other users in a total of £190k+ worth of equipment that has been stolen through wedio and wedio never paying anyone.

My guess is wedio is making fake profiles to take gear from customers and selling it and then refusing to pay for the gear as a way to make money.

Stay far far away from this company and report them to the police and action fraud as they seem to be a company built to steal other peoples gear.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

I have rented out equipment for many years on other platforms, and was invited to also use Wedio via a user called Wanderblack (GRZEGORZ LEPIARZ).

At the time, the user had hundreds of 5 star reviews on Wedio, so my trust was high with the person. After he extended many times, his communication broke down, until I ultimately found out that he had in fact stolen my equipment. I found this out in an email from Wedio themselves on 21 March. I also discovered I was one of at least 30 people who GRZEGORZ LEPIARZ had also stolen from, with a total of over £300K+ equipment stolen.

Despite advertising that you are covered - Wedio have offered pathetic reimbursement to myself and everyone else. What is worse, is that others had raised the alarm about this user months before my last few extensions with them, and they failed to stop him. Even more, despite them telling me of the theft on 21 March, and me responding to them the next day, and then exchanging emails for 2 weeks about it, they claim I didn't 'report it' until 8 April... completely illogical and unfair.

Do not use this platform!!!

NEVER RENT FROM WEDIO

DO NOT USE THIS PLATFORM

I have rented kit out on Wedio since April 2023. All transactions went smoothly until March 7th.

The thief/renter known to Wedio returned my kit but swapped it with a stolen camera. He swapped my distinct labels (how I identify the camera) onto this stolen camera.

I had no idea anything like this was happening until 30th April where a good samaritan notified me of his actions since August 2023. Many people had already reported this to Wedio earlier this year. I immediately checked my kit to discover it wasn't mine.

I was asked on April 11th by Wedio customer support how my rental went with the thief specifically. As I was unaware of the theft I said it went fine. She then replied Thank You!

I wasn't warned about this theft at all even they had the chance and the responsibility to. Customer support admitted that she should have and was told by her bosses not to alert people. They have shown their true colours.

My equipment was luckily recovered. Avoid if you value your kit.

Wedio claims to be a secure platform…

Wedio claims to be a secure platform for seamless rental transactions, but my experience reveals a darker truth. Wedio fails miserably in upholding its end of the bargain.

My encounter with Wedio turned sour when I became a victim of fraudulent activity facilitated through their platform. Despite assurances of security measures, Wedio proved itself to be a breeding ground for deceit and exploitation. The company's lack of oversight and failure to implement stringent verification processes allowed for fraudulent transactions to thrive unchecked.

People lost more than £200k worth of equipment from one fraudulent user in recent months and same thing happened few years ago. How can someone trust them?

Extremely disappointed customer

Wedio approached me and asked me to join their platform. All was going well until a malicious user stole some of my equipment. The claims all over their site promise that you're fully covered under insurance. Sadly this is not the case. They offered me nothing in return. Many many others have been affected in this way. They will use anything they can in their terms and conditions to avoid paying you. You are not protected.

I implore you to stay away from their site and services unless you are happy with the risk.

Oh dear...

I am really not sure who Wedio are trying to cater too with their website. If you are an amateur wanting to test/use different kit you'll find it nigh on impossible to rent anything as their verification process is seemingly impossible to get past, and if you are a pro you'll still find it impossible too. I'm really not surprised pepole have said their kit is going un rented if this is their strategy.

Apart from the fact that Monika (seems to be the only person working there) takes ages to reply, you're then told that their "Third party" won't let you join. I can understand being careful but when someone has immediately provided: passport copy, selfie with id and todays date, copy of bank statement showing address etc, website of my work, Facebook page showing work, Instagram... What else could the third party require??

Good idea in principle just poor execution, ended up going to Wex (paid £210 for body, lens, flash, card and reader with £5740 soft deposit) but no messing around.

P.S: emailed Monika a while ago now saying all of the above and that if I do not get a reply from her I would post to Trustpilot, hence this review

my review

Firstly, we were both unsure about the exact times he would be able to rent the lens and return it. Secondly, after he borrowed the lens, I was quite concerned about whether it was being handled with sufficient care.

Uncomplicated and secure

The platform and customer service are top quality!

The platform is amazing, the UX is very enjoyable and most importantly the customer service is very helpful and quick to follow up. I've even noticed a feature they could implement on their website, and surprisingly they were very receptive and updated in no time!

Received a text message from Wedio late…

**** HAVING HAD NO FEEDBACK FROM WEDIO ON THSI ( DESPITE SENDING THEM CONTACT DETAILS VIA TRUSTPILOT) I CAN ONLY ASSUME THEY DON"T CARE ABOUT SCAMMING USING THEIR SITE OR INDEED IT IS ACTUALLY THEM DOING THE SCAMMING.........****Ive reported them to action fraud Received a text message from Wedio late last night with a verification code. I'M NOT A MEMBER OF WEDIO, NEVER HAVE BEEN OR WISH TO BE - IS THIS A SCAM OF SOME SORT?

FURTHER TO WEDIO’S REPLY, LET ME CLARIFY SOMETHING - I DID EVENTUALLY RECEIVE A RATHER SNOTTY EMAIL FROM THEM WHICH, IN A RIUNDABOUT WAY ACCUSED ME OF LYING.
I DID IN FACT RESPOND TO THIS, MAYBE THEY ARE JUST SAYING THEY DIDNT RECEIVE IT IN THE SAME WAY THEY ACCUSED ME OF MAKING MY COM0AINT UP. THIS COUPLED WITH THEIR “POST OFFICE HORIZON-ESQUE” ATTITUDE LEAVES ME IN NO DOUBT THAT THEY ARE A COMPANY NOT TO DEAL WITH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER

Regarding the issue you mentioned with phone messaging, I would like to clarify that we never initiate any communication via phone unless users voluntarily provide their phone numbers. We pride ourselves on being a trustworthy company, and our messaging system is designed to operate in a secure and reliable manner.

Our platform members have to provide their phone numbers during the verification process, and the subsequent messages are solely for the purpose of sending verification codes. In your case, it appears there may have been an intentional addition of your phone number or a typographical error leading to the message of a verification code. However, everything regarding the messaging is according to the system of what phone number is added by a new member.

This company was our hero

This company was our hero! We had a mishap on our old rental service and we needed a cam & lens asap and this company (Monica via Whatsapp) went above and beyond in finding us someone who could lend us and delivery the cam&lens on the same day!!Thank you Richard from rkcameras! Truly a godsend! First time using weido and we highly recommend them!

Very unclear sight / service

Very unclear sight / service. Was never sure about who got what information, of where I could find what’s glowing on, what money was being payed.
I had to have a lot of direct contact with the renter to understand what he payed. In the end I had to pay him some money back because I could not change the rental price on your site.
Even tho I choose a cheaper price for longer period, your algo seems to choose a more expensive way to calculate the price.. wow this experience was everything else than easy.
Take a look at Hygglo that’s an easy peazy and very clear service

I have been using Wedio for a year, and I must say it is the best platform for renting and buying photography or videography equipment. Recently, I ordered a BMPCC 6K Pro for a three-month rental, and they provided me with a brand-new one, still sealed. Impressed by its quality, I decided to purchase the camera, and now it's my own. Safety is a top priority on Wedio as they require verification before renting or listing equipment, ensuring a secure experience. Therefore, I highly recommend it.

I have been a member since 2021, rent my gear and have rented. It works SUPER GOOD, you can rent equipment to make your footage or shooting even betters using the perfect gear.
