Selvom jeg sendte alle de nødvendige dokumenter for at bekræfte min identitet, herunder kørekort, sygesikringsbevis, et billede af mig selv og links til mine sociale medieplatforme, blev jeg alligevel afvist. Jeg har suppleret med yderligere informationer, men har ikke fået noget svar. Allerede fra starten havde jeg problemer med at få min e-mail accepteret i deres system, hvilket de måtte ordne manuelt. Dette virker uprofessionelt og får mig til at tvivle på platformens pålidelighed og sikkerhed, især når jeg har delt så følsomme personlige oplysninger. Jeg kan også se, at der er andre, der har haft lignende oplevelser.

Først og fremmest virker det ikke særligt professionelt, når jeg opretter mig med både kørekort og sygesikring uden nogen form for verificering af mine oplysninger. Det får mig til at tvivle på, hvor sikkert det er at bruge jeres service, især når det drejer sig om vigtige og følsomme oplysninger. Jeg har nu bedt om at få mine oplysninger fjernet, spørgsmålet er bare om det bliver udført :(

They seem hostile to new customers, have an opaque
Criteria for verification and asking for detailed identity information before rejecting customers. As they suggested, if you're looking to lend gear, save time and start by working with other customers.
If they were clearer on who they want as customers and what verification would look like, they could save themselves and their customers a lot of frustration, time, and the need to share identity information. Currently, they seem to put their own (valid) needs ahead of customers'.
Their opaque 'verification' process is unclear on the criteria (I explained I wanted to hire gear to make videos to promote my coaching service business) a customer needs to meet to be allowed to use the platform.
If they had been clear on who they wanted as customers first (e.g., experienced industry professionals), then it would have saved me from having shared detailed personal information (government-issued identity document, recent bank statement, and current photo).
They haven't replied to emails asking them to confirm they've deleted personal information in 24 hours, and have continued to send me marketing emails a day after deleting my account (and the reply-to the email address bounced back)
Shocking firm
Shocking firm, should be banned, especially from the UK. Never rent out through them. Rented to someone ”they trust” and you can clearly see they do from their responses on here but their insurance and service is a disgrace. Also ban people from their instagram for telling others about their service. Also their website misleads with 5* reviews whereas here averages 2* at best! Also LinkedIn their senior management hide!
Deeply Disappointed with WEDIO
After more than three years of using WEDIO for equipment rental, I am compelled to share my extremely disappointing experience, which ultimately has led me to decide never to use their services again, nor recommend them to anyone else.
My ordeal began when several pieces of my rental equipment were stolen by a borrower. Despite reporting the thefts promptly within the stipulated 48-hour window, and actively communicating irregularities and concerns to their team, WEDIO’s response was woefully inadequate.
The real shock came with their final decision - a staggering £0 in reimbursement. This is despite clear records and evidence of my timely reports and their initial assurances of reliability regarding the borrower. The financial blow from this incident is significant, not just in terms of the lost equipment but also the impact on my business operations.
Furthermore, WEDIO opted to deduct earnings from the rental transactions from the overall value of the stolen equipment in their reimbursement calculations, which contradicts the purpose of having insurance and coverage in the first place. This decision ignores the fundamental need for a business to replace stolen assets to continue operations smoothly.
This experience has exposed serious flaws in WEDIO’s handling of theft cases and their coverage policy, which seems to be more about protecting their own interests than those of their loyal users. The lack of adequate support and failure to fulfill their coverage promise has not only resulted in financial loss but also a loss of trust.
To other users considering WEDIO: please be wary. The coverage and support may not be as reliable as they promise, especially when you need it the most. I learned this the hard way and urge you to look for more dependable alternatives that value and protect their customers.
This review clearly expresses your dissatisfaction and warns potential users about the issues you experienced with WEDIO.
Don't even bother
I submitted everything it was required to be approved, however, I received an email saying it "wasn't enough". I added one more link to social media (which was optional during the approval process) and I wrote a lengthy explanation who I am and what I'm doing with my life (???) as requested in the email from someone called Monika. No response until the next day when I was told that I can't be approved. Not sure what kind of exclusive members club is this but went on Llama instead and had my rented gear collected same day. Beyond unprofessional and it worries me that they still have all my personal information. The poor rating says it all, only regret for not looking at the reviews earlier.
STAY FAR AWAY FROM WEDIO!!
Heed my warning - stay far away from Wedio!!
Myself, and countless others, were all recently victims of a large scale theft on their platform.
This person was someone that they constantly vouched for even though he was extremely unreliable, and despite countless warnings from other lenders, Wedio continued to assure us that he was “one of the best renters on the platform”, and that he was trustworthy..
A similar incident happened in 2022, and Wedio assured everyone on their platform that the same would not happen again.
Lo and behold, they have not made their security and verification processes better, and allowed this one person to rent £150K+ equipment.
This is even something that they specifically stated they wouldn’t do when they sent everyone a platform update after the incident in 2022.
Look at some of their responses to the other Trustpilot posts - they say that they “made adjustments” to their verification process, and that “due to the high level of trust in the recent fraudster”, they weren’t equipped to handle the scenario..?! Anyone with half a brain would know that allowing one person to rent that much equipment is an enormous risk! But hey, they were making so much in rental fees that it probably didn’t cross their mind..
Wedio also preach about “trust” and “community”, and like to make you think that we are all playing some part in helping them build and foster this great community. After the incident in 2022 they even had constant calls with the lenders affected so as to find ways in which we think they could improve and help to make it a better platform. All of that for nothing.. All of the things that they said they would do and implement to make it a better platform, haven’t been acted on.
They have their own coverage (Wedio Global Coverage) which they say will protect your equipment and reimburse you in the case of theft, damage, etc. yet these are all empty words when you actually need to make a claim.
I lent £11K worth of gear to that particular person, and they offered to reimburse me £335??!! That’s not even 5% of the purchase value of the gear. Memory cards cost more than that! I was lucky that I even received some sort of reimbursement - many others got offered £0!! They also say that they don’t cover “peripherals”, meaning that they won’t reimburse you for accessories related to your equipment. I mean really?! When you lend gear to someone, you don’t tell them “oh sorry, the equipment doesn’t come with any batteries, memory cards, or other accessories”…
They will use any tactic they can so as to not have to pay you back. Huge depreciation amounts that effectively depreciate your equipment to zero, and an excess fee of 15% (£580 minimum) for ‘dealing with all the admin’ (and that is on top of the 20% they take from both the lender and renter (40% in total) when a booking is originally made). They even went as far as to deduct the earnings that we made from lending our gear to this person from the reimbursement value?? Literally makes no sense!!
Wedio have taken zero responsibility for everything that happened, and have now palmed it off to the police saying that it’s not their problem anymore.. The treatment that they have given us has been nothing but disrespectful. If I could give them zero stars in this review I would - 1 star is too generous considering the way that they have treated us..
Please, if you value your equipment and time, then do not ever use this platform. All of their dogma about trust and community is nonsense, and when you need it most, they won’t be there to help you.
NEVER rent your equipment through this platform!
Wedio make a big deal about community in their marketing. They boast about being “Your trusted camera sharing community”, and “Trusted by filmmakers” and encourage you to become a part of their “Creator Community”. Sounds great, huh?
But in reality, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
As you will see from other reviews here about Wedio, I was another victim of the scammer that used Wedio as their platform of choice to hire hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of kit from about 30 other owners, only to then sell it all on to other third parties or pawn shops.
And as you’ll also see in the other reviews, despite red flags being waved by others about the behaviour of the scammer months before it came to a head, Wedio did absolutely nothing to either stop the rentals from increasing, or to warn existing owners about the levels of equipment this single renter was committed to.
And once the scale of the scam did come to light, what did Wedio do to help out those members of their “Creator Community”?
Using a combination of charges and depreciation levied on the value of equipment they have reduced settlements to the lowest levels possible, or in some cases zero. Owners who have lost tens of thousands of pounds worth of kit have been left with a tiny fraction of that as a settlement. For my £2.4k lens I was offered just over £200. They even chose to reduce their settlement by deducting the income I’d earned from the value of the lens.
Yes, you read that right, they penalised me for earning money on their site, using my own equipment.
My recommendation? If you value your kit avoid Wedio at all costs. Don’t be swayed by their words of “community” and “trust”, they care about their own cash and nothing more. They will leave you high and dry, and they are the absolute antithesis of a community.

Jeg er meget skuffet over min oplevelse med at bruge Wedio.
I marts oplevede jeg en ubehagelig situation, hvor en låntager, Greg Lepiarz faciliteret af Wedio, stjal tre af mine objektiver og over 100 objektiver og kameraer fra andre brugere i Storbritannien. Aktivér Trustpilot-anmeldelser på engelsk, så du kan se mange, mange 1-stjernede anmeldelser.
Der er to store problemer med Wedio:
1. Mangelfuld Screening og Håndtering: Wedio tillod en enkelt bruger at låne udstyr for mere end 2 millioner danske kroner (70 objektiver, 30 kameraer) på samme tid uden ordentlige tjek. Da långivere rapporterede forsinkelser mellem oktober 2023 og marts 2024, rådede Wedio til tålmodighed og hævdede, at Greg var et "vidunderligt" medlem.
2. Utilstrækkelig Forsikringsdækning: Wedios forsikringsdækning viste sig at være groft utilstrækkelig. De anvender betydelige og uretfærdige fradrag for afskrivning og overskydende gebyrer, som er i strid med deres erklærede vilkår og betingelser. De ser ud til at bruge forskellige taktikker for at minimere udbetalinger, hvilket føles ikke bare uretfærdigt, men bedragende.
Da Greg tilstod at have solgt alle objektiver og kameraer, tilbød Wedio efter en måned kompensation til de 30 ofre, men ændrede vilkårene og betingelserne til kun at tilbyde omkring 100.000 kroner for genstande til en værdi af 2 millioner. De hævdede, at långivere kun var dækket for tab over 5.000 kroner (hjemmesiden angav 15%), foreslog at kompensation kunne komme fra Gregs indtjening, og sagde, at långivere ikke rapporterede forsinkelser inden for 48 timer (vi har bevis for, at de fleste gjorde det).
Kort sagt tillod Wedio en bedrager at låne udstyr for 2 millioner kroner uden ordentlige tjek. Dette er FORSØMMELSE i en domstol!
Tænk to gange før du bruger Wedio. Deres service kan virke lovende, men når tingene går galt, kan du stå uden dækning og med betydelige tab.

DO NOT USE THIS PLATFORM. Got my kit stolen through their platform and they did not reimbursed me for my stolen kit. Wedio global coverage does not protect your kit. Your kit is not safe in this platform, if your equipment gets stolen you won’t see a penny from the coverage. One single user hired lots of expensive equipment at the same time from many different users. That user stole equipment valued in more than 300k from many users. There are many other people affected on this way. Is not a safe platform, your equipment is not insured

I wish I’d read the T&C’s
If you’re looking to rent out your gear through Wedio you would do well to carefully read their Global Coverage T&C’s.
I didn’t, and I bet a lot of the people giving 5 stars on here haven’t either. In fact all of the 5 star reviews on here are from Wedio customers who haven’t needed to rely on Wedio’s Global Coverage Insurance.
With promises like ‘we’ve got you’ and ‘you’re covered’ in their marketing, Wedio go the extra mile to make you feel like you are covered in the event of theft or damage of your precious gear.
Unfortunately, as a lot of users are finding out, it’s not all it seems.
Be warned.
Although it clearly states you will be reimbursed the current value of your equipment, which any reasonable person would assume to be the replacement cost, there are a number of painful caveats.
1. They deduct a depreciation of 10% per year. It may not seem a lot, but some gear depreciates a lot less than others. Leica lenses for example.
2. They then take an excess charge of £580.
3. Accessories are not covered.
4. In the most recent cases they have taken the liberty of deducting the earnings made by the renter for the stolen equipment.
Using their metric, in a recent case, a stolen Sony A1 valued at c. £4700 on the used market was deemed to be worth only £38 compensation. My two brand new lenses worth £5700 will most likely attract £0 reimbursement.
There’s too many cases I know of like that to list here. Just read the other reviews here on Trustpilot..
So my advice would be, if you rent your kit out on Wedio, take out your own personal insurance and factor that in with your costs, because despite what their marketing says, you are not covered, they haven’t got you, and when things go pear shaped, you’re on your own.

Disastrous Experience with Wedio: Negligence, Stolen Equipment, and Lack of Accountability
My experience with Wedio has been nothing short of a nightmare. I used their rental platform trusting in their supposed vetting process for renters. However, what I got instead was a shocking display of negligence on their part, leading to the theft of camera equipment worth over 20 thousand pounds sterling by a criminal renter.
Despite Wedio's claims of providing a secure rental environment, they allowed a criminal to operate freely on their platform. This individual, who has reportedly swindled over 40 people, was given access to valuable equipment without any proper background checks or scrutiny. It's outrageous that Wedio would jeopardize the safety and security of its customers in such a manner.
To make matters worse, when the theft occurred, Wedio displayed a shocking lack of accountability. They have not taken any responsibility for the stolen equipment nor made any effort to reimburse the value of the items lost. It's incredulous that a company would wash their hands of such a significant incident, leaving customers like myself to bear the brunt of their incompetence.
What's even more concerning is that this criminal renter is still at large, roaming freely while Wedio turns a blind eye to their misdeeds. It's utterly unacceptable that Wedio has allowed this individual to continue exploiting their platform without facing any consequences.
I urge anyone considering using Wedio for their rental needs to think twice. Their negligence and lack of accountability make them an unreliable and unsafe option. Save yourself the trouble and avoid Wedio at all costs.

Beware of Wedio’s Lack of Security Measures
I recently listed my Sony A1 camera on Wedio’s rental platform and unfortunately had a terrible experience. Someone rented my camera in November 2023, and despite renting over £200k worth of equipment within a few months, Wedio failed to flag any suspicious activity. Other platforms like Fatllama have strict limits on rental amounts, but Wedio let this slip through.
When he stopped paying or extending the rentals, I reached out to Wedio’s customer service team, Shockingly, They brushed off my concerns, saying there was “absolutely nothing to worry about.” She even vouched for the him, claiming he’s a nice guy who might have gotten overwhelmed with bookings.
Trusting Wedio’s reassurances, I was devastated when he disappeared with my camera, along with £200k worth of equipment from Wedio’s platform. Despite my efforts, Wedio refused to reimburse the value of the camera.
This experience highlights Wedio’s alarming lack of security measures and their failure to protect their users’ assets. I strongly advise against using Wedio for renting out valuable equipment, as their negligence can lead to significant financial losses.

On top of this, instead of replacing value of your equipment like-for-like they deduct depreciation 10% from start of use. Year 1=20%, year 2=30% etc etc..
They also don't cover peripheral items like cards, batteries, chargers, cases, lens hood etc...
If you’re renting on Wedio, don’t expect any of your kit to be covered, despite their high fees, and what their website, insta ads and emails all claim.

My equipment was stolen
I used Wedio for the first time recently, renting out a Leica lens of mine, worth several thousand pounds, to a borrower in London, UK. The borrower paid the rental fee for ten days but then didn’t return the lens, and deliberately stopped answering my messages. I reported this to Wedio immediately. They did close to nothing and finally sent me, more than a month later, an email saying that the borrower had sold my lens to a pawn shop in London and that this therefore wasn’t their problem anymore but that I should take it up with the police. Almost two months since my lens was supposed to be returned by this “borrower” (in fact thief), who stole it and sold it to a pawnshop, I still haven’t been able to get my lens back from the pawn shop. I’m truly appalled by how this company has behaved and strongly recommend people don’t use this platform.

They take their fees and zero responsibilities if something goes wrong, lot of gear was stolen by one person and they just avoided covering the lost with the insurance, while Fatlama took responsibility and I got paid back what was rented by them. Avoid Wedio.
