It has been 3 weeks that we have been trying to get our issue resolved with Vivint Solar. We have multiple leaks in our roof and need our system removed in order to get our roof replaced. It has been nothing but being on hold for hours and told they would call back which never happens. We have been given the run around and they have refused to give us a supervisor to speak with. They keep blaming covid-19 but they are essential workers and they are the only solar company that fir-load their employees. We have had third party companies offer to remove the panels but Vivint will not pay them for the work. Bottom line, they loose money removing and reinstalling the panels while our house gets damaged. This is unacceptable and a breach of contract! If you read other reviews this was an issue before covid-19 with Vivint Solar.

One of the things that were important to us was service AFTER the sale. Vivint says you must have a broadband connection because the system is being constantly monitored, and they will call YOU if there's an issue.
Our system was down for a week before I discovered it myself. Now they say it is our responsibility to manage our system! Also, the tech that came out said there are only TWO SERVICE TECHS for the entire state of Utah!
What happens the next time there's a hail, wind or lightening storm?
They also say that everyone that comes to the home is a Vivint Employee and they don't sub-contract. Which means if there is a hail or wind storm, it will be months (or years!) until they can get around to fixing my system.
They misled us throughout the process.
Actually, I should say ‘we’ as I was a Vivint Solar Salesman! I was trained to tell customers things that I knew were untrue.

I will break this down into days.
Day 1: They came out to install the panels, did not go over the plan with me and put the panels on a different side of the house from which I was told. They did not finish and told me they would come back in a week.
Day 2 (week later): No one shows up, no one answers my calls, no one returns my messages. I had to call my sales person to get a contact number for anyone.
Day 3 (the next week): The crew shows up to finish the job, but they were never told they were moving panels. They thought they were putting in a fresh install, so nothing was done.
Day 4 (another week later): the job is finally finished.
Day 5: (two weeks later): No one shows up for my inspection for which I was told I had to be home for so I took a day off work. Once again, no one answers my calls or returns my phone calls.
At this point I started working with someone else from Vivant to get my roof fixed. Each time I called, I was told they were out or on another line and they would call me back. If I got called back it was days, if not weeks, later. After 6 weeks, my roof was fixed, but I didn't know it. No one notified me they would be working on my roof. They came and went while I was at work and it wasn't until I called them a week later for an update did they tell me the job was done.
We are now at 3 months after the initial attempt to install my panels. I call to ask about my inspections. I was told the initial inspection failed (funny because no one ever showed up to the inspection) and the paper work had to be resubmitted to the Village. Was this done right away? No it was done two months later. Then I had to wait a month for it to get approved and, once again, I was the one who had to call to check up on it. We are now four months from the initial install and Vivant is still using the wrong contact number even thought I have called and changed it three times. They have scheduled an inspection that they claim I have to be home for, but didn't check with me. So someone is coming to my house today, but I won't be there.
The customer service is absolutely terrible, and if I have to take off one more day of work for my panels it will be to take them down.

Vivint Solar has disappointed us time and time again. If there was a way to get out of the loan for it, we would discontinue service ASAP. First, the install was not done properly and they are arguing that it's our problem to fix. Their tech nailed something into our wiring which is causing a fire hazard that they won't fix. They're saying we have to prove it. This will require ripping out the ceiling. The lights were working perfectly before the install and went out after solar was installed. It took MONTHS to even get someone to respond to us after we escalated the case. Still, no help, no resolution.
We have also been paying $125 per month and the offset has been only $48 on average. We're basically paying MORE for the solar rather than realizing any savings. There is no way to see what your monthly offset is in billing either, which requires extra work to call and ask what was generated. It's a total racket....at least in our experience.

It's hard to imagine that a company could go to the trouble of existing without caring about customer support service. It feels like the goal was to get the money and that was it...goal accomplished. The long range goal of a company with good customer service is to keep the customers they have instead of looking for new ones every year.
Vivint kept us on hold over 30 minutes each call for a total of 4 hours after an endless line of poor English speakers could not manage calls or get us to support. Their staff refused to transfer us to the US which is a federal law. We got no help until the 5th hour. Someone was to come out, but they were two days late. They were to call back in 24 hours and two days later we are still waiting. If you are more patient than I am, this might be a great match.

I have Vivent solar installed on my house. I would not recommend this company at all. The sales rep never returned calls.. I bought about 50 panels and still have to pay for electricity during winter times. The production is not what sales rep promised.. Do not use the loan company that they recommend, after one year they increased the payments which all is interest.
In summary stay away from Vivent Solar...

Your rate will go up 2.9 percent every year. Not competitive with bge or other electric rates. Your bge or other electric rate will go up and down but vivints will never go down, "Per a customer service rep". As it goes up each year you will eventually pay 17 to 20 cents a kilowatt at the end of your 20 year contract. May be even more depending on what rate you start at. We started at 10 cents per kilowatt and after 3 years are now at 11.5 cents per kilowatt. After calculating so far it has worked out where we save between 7 and 10 dollars a month. Doesn't feel like it was worth it to pay over 10000 for a new roof and then have holes put in it for a solar system for a savings of 7 to 10 dollars a month. Now if your not in it to save money and do it because you care about the environment then it may be for you but personally if i did it all over again I would purchase my panels out right not with a contract that goes up yearly then once your panels are paid off besides maintenance you truly would have free electricity. This was our experience, yours may differ.
As a former employee of this company, I can tell you they don’t care about the end product of the job only the number. If your roof has bad paper, too bad ! Will it pass inspection? nope. theres a whole list of other things this shady business does but the main thing is the treatment of employees, they literally fired a guy who wasn’t a brown nose for getting off the roof and let a legit drug addict keep his job after falling off with a roof with no rope. the panels are trash also, there are so many things to say about this garbage but not enough time.

Everyone involved with our experience was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely courteous. When our panels were installed, they were very concerned with safety and cleaned up before they left. We’ve had a top notch experience with Vivant thus far. I’m anxious to start using our solar system and looking forward to the same great service. I would recommend them to my best friends and family.

I am very unhappy with the service I received from Vivint Solar yesterday. I had my installment done and there are several things I didn't like throughout this process.
1. (Wiring) the wiring running from my roof where my panels are, down to the power box isn't concealed at all. The formen said they had to run the line down and over the garage to the power box. I asked if there was another option because my neighbors had there lines installed differently. Even walked them to my neighbors homes and showed them. The formen said he doesn't know how those panels were run like that and over the garage is my only option.
2. (Placent of panels) Not understanding the configuration of the panels on the front of my house. Right now they have them on the right dormer which if the sun sets in the west I don't see how those panels would receive much energy. Just looking at it, seems if they were on the opposite side it might be more beneficial.
3. (Customer Service) before my panels were being installed I met with the forman, and electrician asking if they needed anything. They told me no there good to go so I went in the house. At no point did they update me as to what's being done. After the work was completed they just bailed out leaving my home and the garage wide open. Never had me sign for anything talked anything over nothing. I have taken pictures and submitted it to my sales agent and his supervisor already. I can provide whatever needed to whom ever this may concern. Bottom line I need this to be corrected immediately. I can be contacted at (302) 753-9788 during normal business hours. First, John and Crew were excellent. Their dedication was displayed to all the neighborhood. They were late due to another job and assured us the would finish the job. They did and John patiently answered our petty questions.
