My wife bought me the locomotive as a Christmas present and I have never been so disappointed.

I am experienced with Rokr/Robotime kits which are superb and I can highly recommend.

The Ugears locomotive, on the other hand, is nasty. Some parts are so tight you need a hammer to put them together others, like gears, being tight, will not rotate.

Unlike Rokr/Robotime, there are no tools and no wax, only a piece of sandpaper is supplied.

Sadly, had it been purchased via Amazon it could be returned for a refund but she bought it direct so its destined for the rubbish bin.

Bought as a gift, a little late and not expecting it to arrive before Christmas. These guys managed to ship from like it had been telephones to me! Amazing product and we will definitely be buying more! Well packaged for delivery and amazing guide / instructions! You guys are amazing!! WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!! Thank you!!!!!

J'ai commandé deux cadeaux via le site et en ai reçu deux autres différents de ma commande. J'ai envoyé plusieurs mails pour signaler une erreur de leur part et aucune réponse.
Un service après vente déplorable qui ne répond pas aux mails après une erreur flagrante de leur part.
C'est lamentable pour une société de ne pas répondre.

I decided to try out UGEARS sets after building Lego Technic sets with over 2,000 pieces. I’ve always loved making 3D objects like globes, cars, and other models, and seeing them work in practice.
Well, this was a mistake.

I decided to start with a small set, around €10–15. I bought the Steampunk Clock, followed the instructions, and it turned out great. Just what I wanted. I was already eyeing the more expensive sets in the €120-150 range, but I first decided to try the UGEARS GLOBUS set since it was cheaper and would allow me to test these “smaller” sets.

The Globus set, at least for me, was a disaster. The parts weren’t cut properly; almost all of them required extra sanding to fit together. Some pieces were so difficult to assemble that you practically needed a hammer to get them into place, even after sanding. After completing about 40% of it, I got stuck because the gears wouldn’t turn. The set simply wasn’t cut precisely enough. I could either continue this hellish assembly process, sanding and hammering, only to end up with a model that couldn’t even move, and that was the main attraction of this set.

I stopped building it after reaching roughly 40% completion and left it in a drawer for a year. Eventually, I threw the whole set away. I returned to Lego, which has much higher precision in part manufacturing, and I’ve never had problems like this with Lego.

Maybe I just had a faulty set, but I wouldn’t dare try this nightmare again with a €150–200 set.

I have made many Ugears models. They are fun to make and are of good quality. You must pay very close attention to the instructions.
