If I could give 0 I would they are a scam I recently booked a flight to Florida from NY as my father went into hospice he was given 2 weeks to 3 months to live sadly he took a turn for the worst and died the night I booked the flight I had to cancel and they refused to refund me since he died too soon after booking very disappointing

She was absolutely amazing , determined to help. Previously i spoke to a "supervisor" that was absolutely awful, gave me a lot of wrong information. Bridget called back and went ABOVE and BEYOND - had the claim approved in a day . Clients have waited over a year for.

Do not waste your money on this company. You will only add to your losses. No, I did not buy insurance when I purchased the American Airlines tickets six months in advance. But they kept offering the chance to still purchase trip insurance, every time they sent a reminder or "buy more" ad on the itinerary. So, when a serious illness cropped up for a traveling companion, I fell for it. It was about 3 months before travel, and they did not say, it couldn't be purchased. They took my $50 quickly and easily. But, when the need did arise to cancel, I filled out their paperwork, and presented all the "evidence" they requested. It took a month, but they said, I did not send all the paperwork they requested. So I sent it again, in an even more clear format, and added a letter of explanation with it. It was denied again, saying there was no evidence. Sense a pattern? So, the $50 I spent to purchase the insurance after the airline purchase, just added to the $550 loss of the tickets.
I believe TripMate is at best, a predatory company, if they exist at all. Save your money, don't throw good money after bad.
I will be filing a complaint with my state insurance commissioner in Washington. If you have experienced a loss from this company, I advise you to do the same.

Instructions were very easy to follow and it was easy to upload everything. I never had to talk to an actual person from start to finish. As claim was being processed they send updates and then with refund was approved I had options on how I could receive it.

We had a wonderful response in all ways from Trip Mate when my husband was diagnosed with cancer requiring chemotherapy and we had to cancel our long awaited amazing cruise.
We had booked it last year and never thought we’d have to cancel it. Trip Mate were responsive, helpful, quick and efficient in dealing with our claim from the first contact we made with them. We received confirmation of the claim and our checks within a couple of weeks. Trip Mate are the best and we will always use them when we can hopefully book another cruise. Thank you Trip Mate for making our cancer diagnosis a little less stressful for us.

Easy online claim form. While in the emergency room we asked for a letter indicating I could not travel and I also got a letter from my surgeon stating that as well. That made the process go much smoother.
Very quick reimbursement. I will use Trip Mate again.

Although the claim process was orderly, one of the very first claim questions was "Amount of Claim." Our claim was for a downgrade due to a cancelled flight and had to fly economy rather than the premium economy we paid for. The problem was, we paid Viking River Cruises for our airfare which was supposedly "50% off," so I had no idea as to what the difference in economy and premium economy was! To Trip Mate's credit, I claimed a "guestimate" of the difference and they paid slightly less, but very close, than what I guessed the difference was. I really think that since Viking had control of the airfare booking and pricing and is selling the Trip Mate insurance, the 2 companies should work together and I shouldn't have had to research airfares, etc., trying to come up with a reasonable figure for the claim. In other words, it should have been a seamless, automatic process. However, we did get paid and I am satisfied with the payment!

We have purchased travel insurance from Trip Mate for several trips abroad, always with the hope of never having to use it. Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip at the last minute due to a severe respiratory condition. Submitting a claim was straight forward with good guidance. The response time was very quick and efficient.

My mother became very ill close to departure and we were not able to go on our Viking cruise. The online claim process was very detailed but the step by step instructions made it straight forward to navigate and the Trip Mate representatives were compassionate and answered all my questions when I called for help. My claim was processed very quickly and I received a full refund on my cruise. All of this was done with respect and compassion from each representative I spoke to. I am grateful that we had insurance through Trip Mate and appreciate that it made a very stressful time a little bit easier.

My husband and I had to leave the Viking World Cruise after 4 months. When I received TripMate forms, it felt like a daunting task. I procrastionated but eventually began calling for help. Viking representatives assisted me every step of the way. It took one week to process my claim.

This is trip mate insurance is a “trip”. I purchase my travel insurance from World Nomad and this is trip mate is the one that handles my claim. My baggage was delayed 1 day from Heathrow to Scotland, as per travel insurance i am covered if it is delayed. They did not reimburse me for any inconvenience. So please do not get insurance from World Nomad and this trip mate insurance. We will not go back to them anymore

I found the claim process and result very good. While at first two of my uploads apparently were not received, a simple email resubmitting them took care of it.

bought travel protection for my mother to fly on august 16th 2025. Unfortunately, she got very sick due to diabetes (high sugar levels, high blood pressure, and dizziness) 2 days prior to her flight she was not able to fly back home. I contacted Trip mate, sent all the forms they needed for the claim, and because the ER dr. did not clearly write all symptoms in the report, especially dizziness, trip-uncompassionate-Mate denied the payment, even after the appeal. I will never buy travel protection again, specially from this company. I DONOT RECOMEND! I'd give it zero stars if I could. :(

Wife was helicoptered out of African safari ... missing last six days and racking up $10K medical costs while on our own in middle of nowhere. Trip Mate made the process of reimbursement of the $10K AND missed safari events VERY simple. GREAT communication. VERY timely response and closure.

We had to cancel our Viking River Cruise due to an accident injury. TripMate guided us through the process, and in about a week, we had our full refund emailed to us. Very satisfied.

Straightforward online claim process, clear email communications, and fast adjudication.

I paid for highest tier to cover my $15,000 trip and what I got back? $300.00 worst service ever. There was no reason for that either. My trip was cancelled and fell under the guidelines for a full refund

My son became very ill and I was not able to go on my cruise. The trip mate representatives answered all my questions when I called for help. My claim was processed very quickly and I received a full refund on my cruise. All of this was done with respect and compassion from each representative I spoke to.

We purchased the “ cancel for any reason” insurance and ended up having to cancel just a week before our trip because of a medical emergency with our traveling companion. The claims process seemed intimidating initially, so I called and received good instructions from a representative on how to file online and what documentation to submit.
So I filed online, uploading documents, and received a claim approval within two or three weeks, with the check following about a week later.
I was pleasantly surprised that everything was covered as promised, and the claim was paid out so quickly.
