Ignoring emails, no one answers the phone. Attempting to cancel my membership before renewal because I'm sick of too many under aged kids on the equipment sitting on their phones, overpriced and staff too busy chatting each other up at reception rather than helping waiting people

Avoid these money grabbers, unless you like:

-Constant class cancellations
-Poorly maintained equipment
-Overcrowded floor
-Rude reception staff
-Parking fines in the gym's own carpark

Does anyone in the membership team at Prenton ever answer the phone? I have rang on numerous occasions at times that I would describe as off peak yet no one seems to ever answer. I have been on hold from anywhere between 15 minutes to 45 minutes and have had to hang up. I have had more of a conversation with the woman who tells me my phone call is very important and will be answered shortly than anyone who actually works at the gym. All of this because I ended my membership yet they are still charging me.

I recently joined Total Fitness Gym in Altrincham. Theres lots of space to work out, and great classes, however some of the machine weights are rusty in parts, and there's not enough free weights. The leather on some of the benches are worn and torn? After a good work out I like to finish off by going into the sauna, and steam room. Not sure if they are trying to save money, but the sauna particularly on a Friday evening is literally luke warm, and at times is not switched on, the same applies to the steam room, and can be very smelly. Due to the number of people that use the sauna and steam room through out the day these areas should be cleaned at regularly intervals and not at the end of the day/night.

Always got a problem with some of the facility. Could be the steam room, today was the small pool. Staff - most of them extremely rude. Still attending, cause we have swimming lessons and my boy's teachers are realy good.

1 star doesnt even cut it. Got duped into signing up for 12 months at the lincoln TF business. Its slightly cheaper than the pay monthly and you can take payment breaks.... no you cant, you get 1 payment break for £5 and if you unable to get there due to changes in circumstances. They dont care, your trapped paying for a premium membership that cannot be used. Customer service just read from a script it seems when you try to explain the situation and arrange reduced payments.

Lincoln facility is sparse and mostly has weight training for meatheads. Pool is overly chlorinated and the changing facilities stink of urine (mens side anyway)

Been paying memebrship fees for 11 months and stopped going 7 months ago. Lesson learned from it tho, never i mean NEVER bother signing up to a gym on a membership. The whole culture it seems is out to rob people blind.

I paid upfront £506 last year , I’m not a gym person but love to swim , however everytime I swam there I got a horrid rash on my body , I reported it at the time and hence only used the facility around 5-6 times in a year . I received an email 2 weeks ago saying my “ subscription “was due to expire and to pay another £506 , I immediately emailed back saying I didn’t want another year as I can’t use the facility due to my skin . I then got another email saying they has tried to take the money ( luckily it was an expired card ) , I had no idea when I paid UPFRONT for a year that it was a yearly subscription!!!!!! And them for email only 2 weeks before it’s due to end not giving me chance to cancel (didn’t know I had too) is disgusting 😡😡😡😡 be very aware if you are thinking of joining these rip off merchants!!!!

It seems that the majority of poor reviews here are around billing and contract management. I just pay monthly and my experience has always been a good one. I've been a member at Wilmslow for 10 years or more now and for me this gym meets my requirements fully. The staff all seem friendly and helpful and the facilities are generally excellent.
Some of the equipment could be maintained rather better in that the touchscreens on the equipment often work poorly and the integral heart-rate monitors are hit and miss. This gym represents really good value for money offering really good facilities for a below premium price.

So I left total fitness in early January, I am still getting charged every month even though they said they would agree to close my membership. Trapped and powerless. Never using a membership ever again. They all use the 'contract' same as broadband memberships, absolute nonsense if someone wants to leave, let them leave and stop the greedy behavior

Unfortunately, many members do not follow the rules. Today someone left feces on the floor in the shower. This dirty person also left an empty bottle that was probably used for washing. That's why someone should check cleanliness regularly!
Trimming the beard in changing room, shaving in the bathroom, emptying the nose loudly in the shower, drying dirty and stinky T-shirts in the sauna in the changing room are everyday activities.
People use the sauna and immediately go to the jacuzzi or swimming pool, without a shower. This is disgusting. They drink water straight from the tap, instead of pouring it into bottles. These are just a few examples. Nobody is watching this. Nobody care about it.

Just awful customer service and facilities (Walkden). The website and mobile app are awful and when trying to cancel membership you're then hounded to rejoin. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Useless you have to do don't go to total fitness Aintree, changing rooms dirty,sauna in ladies not worked for passed week mobile phones being used in Swimming pool area even though signs told not to do,Swimming teachers more bothered talking to each other than teaching youngest to swim,also lifeguards more bothered about talking to each other than watching people
Spoke to TF about cancelling email they said it was already cancelled on 02nd July asked for an email to prove it was cancelled still waiting

This is a review for Total Fitness Chester:

Unfortunately it looks like the equipment have stopped being maintained and replaced some time ago. Most of them seem to have parts missing or rust and even the carpets are torn in places and unclean. I would be happy if this was a £20-30 neighbourhood gym, but it’s not what I expected from a premium gym charging £60 a month.

A decent mid range gym, positioned in between the boutique £100 per month type gyms and the Pure Gyms of the world.

The gym is huge with ample weights, resistance and cardio areas and even features an indoor running track. There are three pools and a sauna which seem popular although I haven’t used them.

I’m surprised by how many reviewers opt for the 12 month contract payment option and then complain about lack of flexibility.

Clientele and staff are friendly and there’s excessive amounts of parking. No complaints here, I strongly recommend this gym!

My contact is automatically rolled without any notification and charged me extra 7 months of membership fees. Also, I was told that is the contact I agreed with, which is so ridiculous, cause that is not how the salesman told me before. I just hate so much about the trap in the contact, which is so disgusting. And I even need one month to notify for cancelation. Why one month? Do you need to wait your period to do the work?

AVID THIS GYM AT ALL COSTS WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!AND FROM THE 69% of bad reviews on all of their gym says it all.

I raised a complaint as per below it even went to the regional manager who took over the complain and ive heard nothing back in two weeks .DISGUSTING

The main reasons are the complete lack of customer care by the staff on the front desk there is never any greeting or even a smile if anything they look away or are texting on their mobile phones or a stood gossiping at the desk.



On several occasions when I have approached them its like it too much of an effort and they can’t be bothered. I have worked in customer service for years over the phone and face to face and there are some serious issues with staff at this establishment which I wish to bring to your attention.



The last straw was an incident on Tuesday 1/3/22 regarding the Aqua Class 6.30 pm that day. I had booked onto the class through the official app and got to the gym for the class approx. 6.20 pm on entering the turnstile there was a notice printed on a stand to say this class had been cancelled and it was also on the ladies changing room door. Clearly there was enough time to print several copies off and post around the gym.

It was with disbelief I turned to the front desk to ask why I had not been called by phone to notify me of this to which a member of the front desk made no apology and grunted we were all emailed, and a notification had been put on the app .I have checked my emails and no email had been sent to me. On the app there was a note on the dashboard but there was no notification to my phone to say there was an alert. At this point there were at least 4 members of staff just stood around the front desk talking to each other. I asked why I had not been called to notify me as the week before when the Pilates class had been cancelled Monday 21/2/22 I received a phone call to notify of the cancellation. What is the process for cancellation of classes?

When I asked them this, they just shrugged their shoulders and repeated their first response. No apology nothing.

There were at least 10 fellow members in the small pool who were there as they had also not been notified. After speaking to a lady who came through the turnstile after me had been told by front desk the class only got cancelled at 4.30 pm that day!

This was still 2 hours before the start of the class so why weren’t the 20 or so members given a call as there seemed to plenty off staff stood around talking that could give customers a call ?

I am so angry and frustrated at the poor level of customer service and treatment I receive when I come to this gym, the total lack of care. I completely regret joining this gym and will be cancelling the 12-month agreement as soon as is possible.

I did try to speak to the front desk to raise a complaint and again a young man who I approached couldn’t tell me who the acting manager was and would find out and call me to let me know, he then proceeded to walk off into the back room and didn’t reappear. Another girl came out and I said I was waiting for the man that had just entered the same room she came out of she then stood at the front desk and started texting on her mobile! A third member of staff came from the back room and asked if I needed help to which I was treated with respect and care. She provided me with your email to raise this complaint. This staff member is called Summer and is the only member as well the other staff member Jackie who show any interest and basic customer care whatsoever.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS

Took money from my account after cancelling my membership. I did this with plenty of time to spare. They are now asking me to prove it. Check your cctv!

Gill is totally committed to ensure the members are happy with the information she imparts. I've spoken to Gill several times regarding various queries about the club and every conversation she has smiled.. was pleasant.. optimistic.. and generally very friendly.. a breath of fresh air. Well done Gill..

Had a refreshing facial that has left my skin feeling silky smooth and glowing. The products used were light and fragrant, just what my skin needed. Manicure was also great. Lovely staff, really attentive and look after you.
