Consignment without consent: underpriced, unpaid, and unaccountable
Thank you for your reply, The Luxury Closet– however, I strongly disagree with your version of the facts.
Regarding the payout:
My bank details were fully verified in advance, and I followed all platform steps.
If your system requires a separate manual “request for payment” after the item is sold and marked as “paid,” this was never clearly communicated.
Other platforms trigger payouts automatically.
I received no reminder, no alert, no warning – only a “Paid” status without funds. This is misleading at best.
Regarding pricing and external listings:
I never approved a 70% markdown on my Alaïa jacket, and I certainly never consented to having it listed on third-party sites like Vestiaire Collective with such a low payout (only AED 250).
You may refer to your terms, but sellers deserve transparent, real-time control – not hidden systems that result in massive losses and zero accountability.
Regarding your “fair and consistent” consignment model:
If your policies are fair, why are so many sellers (check the reviews!) facing the same issues: disappearing payouts, unapproved markdowns, and high return fees even when items are not sold?I consigned 24 high-quality designer items with The Luxury Closet. The experience has been a complete nightmare.
My Alaïa jacket (worth over €800) was sold for a total of AED 800, but I received only AED 250.
The item was automatically discounted without my active approval and listed on third-party platforms without my consent.
Even worse, I have never received the payout, although it's marked as “paid” in my seller account. My bank details were verified long ago, and I've followed up multiple times with no result.
The rest of my items? I have to pay AED 1,102 just to get them back – even though many were never listed properly in the first place.
The platform presents itself as a luxury resale partner, but their process is opaque, seller-unfriendly, and in my experience, borderline exploitative.
Avoid consigning with them unless you are prepared to lose control over your items and receive arbitrary payouts – if any.

Regarding payment, while bank details were verified, payouts are released only after a seller submits a payment request through their account. Our records indicate that this step was not completed.

I was sold counterfeit shoes
I was sold counterfeit shoes i had independently verified twice by two different companies who confirmed they are fakes. Currently trying to sue them as they only offer a refund if authenticated by the brand themselves who do not offer this service. This was a clear scam. Luxury Closet
Luxury Closet based in Dubai are absolutely dreadful. They give you an offer for your items, in my case 3 Chanel bags, you send them to them. Then comes the authentication process. In my case they say my bags which had receipts were inauthentic. They then ask you for 100 dollars per bag for their return. So I paid for their return and now they keep asking for an itinerary of the return. They have expressed that they will destroy my bags in 4 days within the rules of the UAE law! I have explained that my bank won't let me do screenshots because of its security settings but they appear to be a bit thick! I will never send them anything ever again to them to sell. The customer service is very poor as they pass you from person to person so you have to explain over and over again. Absolutely dreadful company.

Fake Louboutin, easy catch if they authenticate..
Purchased 3 pairs of Louboutin shoes as a gift as I believed in their authentication. However 2 of the 3 pairs are fake with plastic spikes. I will most definitely let others know. One pair is very nice and exactly what I was looking for. 3 days return? Really? I wasn't in town when they were delivered. Total BS and return period was closed before I even saw them....I will just purchase at the CL store or Saks in the future.
Cannot in good conscience recommend if they can't accept the return of fake product with their tags still attached... Total crap
