Do Not Lease or Purchase from Sun…

Do Not Lease or Purchase from Sun Communities...They will con you any way possible to get you into the property then all promises are broken and you can't get any response from the corporate offices. I will be suing them regarding my experience.

Horrible selling experience

Horrible selling experience. The home I improved upon and put money into was sold through a buyer i found. They gave buyers the key a week ago. It was a cash buyer who wired them the money. They are not forwarding the money to me for 2 weeks. This is illegal! They lied through the entire process. Completely incompetent employees.

Horrible

If I could give a 0 I would. A company that does not care about their residents. Very difficult to see any improvements in the park. The residents had to get county departments involved to fix our water source. Pictures are available of what came out of water faucets. Lighting and security are not a priority. We stay in the park during the winter because of our friends. Each manager hired, with a few exceptions, has been horrible. Communication, concern for residents, and a very callous treatment of some senior citizens becomes a job description. It seems, as I read other reviews, my assessments are shared.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Living there was challenging enough but it was even worse selling our home through them. It's been It's been over a month since we sold the house and nearly a month since we signed closing documents and we STILL have not revieved the funds from the sale. They were supposed to send it UPS and screwed up AGAIN such that now we risk losing the home for which we are under contract because our down payment is being held hostage for literally no reason. I can't believe I actually paid commission for such horrid service. My most helpful recommendation is that you avoid this company entirely.

Run down!

We moved in here before Sun Communities took over. Maple Brook has gone down hill! Overgrown trees on parkways, I am tired of ducking everyday. Common ground grass if you call it that overgrown, loaded with weeds and bare spots. Waste stations disqusting! Oh and the dying and diseased trees on parkway and on peoples rented lots. Don’t get me going on the flooding when it rains! Two years ago a district manager said it would be corrected haha! Now I have a neighbor behind me with 6 new gutters adding to the problem. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy!

Wouldn't recommend this as a place to…

Sun homes community is probably the most expensive place I've ever lived $625 for lot rent... Went up $47 . Improvements in the community .. doesn't offer a pool one park for the kids .

DISGUSTING MANAGEMENT BEHAVIOR

I live in Vista Del Lago Mobile Home Park in Scotts Valley, CA. My (divorced/single) Mother was the original owner of my 1974 Trailer. Unfortunately she became ill & I (single/widowed mother) chose to move in with her to care for her, along with 2 of my 3 children (my oldest was out on his own). From the moment my mother moved in here, there were issues with the management. They target SINGLE woman/mothers for some sick reason.
The unit next door was bought & the fence was moved closer to moms w/ no proof of where the property lines were. Mom was disabled & rode a scooter & couldnt go on that side of the trailer b/c it was to tight! When questioned, was told to have her prop surveyed! Mom couldnt afford that! I lost my mother 03/19 & then had to apply to live here. WITHOUT my consent the management felt they had the right to discuss & LIE about my application process w/ siblings! It is a husband & wife that run this place & I immediately threatened them with a HUGE lawsuit. Well, that solidified the fact that I would be their next "target"! My children were 17 & 11 at that time. My daughter had just gotten her first car & my son is really into riding scooters(the push kind) Now I know the rule is no parking in visitor parking unless its between 10pm-7am and no scootering on "community roads". Well there happen to be a car similar to my daughters in visitor parking & I went to pay rent & was RUDELY & abrasively told that my daughter has received NUMEROUS tickets for parking there, that a letter was being filed in my file & if they see it again it will be towed! I calmly replied back that no she has not received ANY tickets, there better not be a falsified letter in my file and go ahead & tow it because its not mine! I then asked if they checked the lic. plate #! What do ya know! it was a neighbors friend visiting from out of town!
My son rides his scooter (yes he has been in trouble a few times trying to ride it down the hill to go outside the park because it is faster), HOWEVER, i dont care what my son does on his scooter (aside from being harmful or damaging property) IT DOES NOT GIVE MANAGEMENT THE RIGHT TRESPASS ONTO MY PROPERTY & STEEL HIS SCOOTER & LOCK IT UP IN THEIR OFFICE! That is exactly what they did & said they were leaving town & he can get it the next week! I was at work & got a call from my son (sobbing) telling me what happened. I immediately called the office # at 4:00pm, before closing. They did not answer & I left a message that if my son's scooter was not in my carport by the time i get home at 5:30pm I would be contacting the local police & pressing charges against them from trespassing, theft and harassment of not only me but my 11 year old son! Strange, the scooter was there when i got home. Management as well as the maintenance guy, have continued to harass and target me, my children, their friends & the other SINGLE moms or SINGLE grandmothers here in the park! The maintenance guy creepily stares at my daughter and kept questioning her as to when she would be 18! COMPLETELY inappropriate! I went straight to him & let him know that if he so much as glances her way I would castrate him!
They threaten eviction, to take kids items, they yell, cuss & harass the kids constantly & ONLY when the adults aren't around to protect them. When an adult is there, they dont say a word. I've tested this! Stood outside watching my son scooter IN OUR DRIVEWAY & management rode by 3 times, didn't say a word. I went inside & sure enough, they stopped & rudely reprimanded my son stating he was NOT allowed to even be on his scooter with in the park!
My daughters friends would come over and park in visitor parking BECAUSE THEY ARE VISITING! Countless times they have been there maybe 15-20 min and already management ticketed their vehicle! The rule is 72 hours before a ticket is given. At times I have parked in front of my house to unload items, or when i have workers at my house. the maintenance guy actually rode by YELLING "youre in the F-ing way!" then tried to instigate a fight with my worker! i went out & he looked at me & lied to my face saying "i just nicely asked him to move".

I've been accused of violating rules by "having numerous people living w/ me", this is simply NOT true. My house is a kid favorite to be at because we have fun & play games... a healthy & safe place esp. during COVID - They don't all live w/ me!
This is just a few examples of what I have experienced & I am absolutely fed up with the BULLYING that goes on here! Sun Communities NEEDS TO FIRE THIS ENTIRE MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENCE STAFF & get competent employees that are polite & more importantly employees that do NOT ABUSE THEIR AUTHORITY or HARRASS AND TARGET CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS!! If something is not done I can assure you the next step will be to go to the news & social media to expose management of their disgusting behavior!

I live in the Holiday Park Trailer Park in Bangor ME. Sun Communities is the new owner,
The management at this place is incredibly rude to everyone and should probably read the Maine Fair Housing laws because they keep violating people’s rights. The people who live here pretty much all want out and a lot have already left. Would not recommend living here.

I have lived in a Sunhome community since 2005 and you are exactly right they treat senior citizens terribly The managers that they hire or two-faced liars it says something in the brochure about certain dogs that you can have but yes they will allow the pit bulls the Rottweilers and when you complain they do nothing about it so much so we had a pitbull get loose and grab a hold of a woman’s little dog that she was walking and that pitbull killed it Sun Homes did nothing about it and you’re right they raise the rent every year I knew a woman in the park whose husband died and before she could get her Social Security situated around they started eviction papers on her I don’t care there is nothing in the park for anybody to do anything they’ve also gone so far now that they want to start charging you to rent this dinky little community center that they think they have which really is so small he could lucky if you’d fit 10 people in there and then they would be elbow to elbow it’s horrible living in Sun Homes I would never recommend it to anyone the managers that they hire I don’t know where they get them but they are vicious liars deceiver and so is the owners of Sun Homes I have talk to the upper management and they kept saying yeah we’re going to do something about it we’re going to do something about it never done anything about it when I called them back they never return my phone call he lied the whole time and his name is Ken Kuiper they don’t care they don’t care about you living here in their community they don’t care I’ve never seen a company so greedy in my life it’s horrible I’ll tell you right now don’t rent In a Sun Homes Community you’re going to regret it I can’t get out of here fast enough so then they started charging you $10 if you write a check to pay your rent these older people that’s all they paid by his check they don’t know how to get up on the Internet and make an account and pay on the Internet these people don’t care they charge the senior citizen $10 if you write me a check which is wrong are use that greedy you need a $10 for a check from senior citizens like I said if you ran into Sun Homes community you deserve everything they’re going to give RUN!

Sun Communities does nothing to help…

Sun Communities does nothing to help the residents of their parks. I live in Sea Air in Rehoboth Beach. Our park is a disgrace. We have repeatedly complained to management and corporate, to no avail. We don’t ask for much. Just want management to make people abide by the rules and keep their place neat and clean. We have standing water on streets that lasts for days. A definite safety hazard. Our lawns have not been cut and we have no idea when they will re are untagged cars, trash and debris, construction vehicles and ho,es that have not been kept up to standards, yet all of this is ignored. Broken promises after broken promises. They used to take pride in their properties, but not any more. I guess we will have to file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau or DOJ. I would. Or recommend any of their properties, since this is how they conduct business. Pathetic.

I am a senior citizen and have dealing…

I am a senior citizen and have dealing with Sun Homes for 3 years and everytime it rains,it floods the
Walkway and in the winter I have an ice rink and with me in my 70s and I fall and break something there will
be a HUGE problem because I was told it was my problem, IT'S NOT MY PROPERTY!!!!! Then I have to pay taxes on a stupid shed that ISN'T even mine I feel should be covered in the lot rent. As far as the lot rent which high for somebody on a fixed income and there is nothing we get as an amenity. I was told "you got new mail boxes", I'm sorry that is corporates responsibility as well as the roads needing fixed. Problem with some corporations they have forgotten who keeps them in business and they do not care. I used to like where I live but not anymore!

No services!! COVID - SORRY EXCUSE!!

I have an RV at the Sands RV and Golf Resort in Desert Hot Springs, Ca. I would not recommend this park or any Sun resort at this time. Here, they have hired a very young inexperience manager, and he is totally unprepared to oversee what is going on - Oh yes, they blame every thing on COVID. Really - Raise the rates, lay off most of the workers, keep the laundry closed on the weekend because they don't have cleaning people, and lock the restrooms!! No mail because the office is closed on weekends, and no activity director. This is the ultimate to balance the budget, but let everything else go to hell. Sorry, this is not Paradise! Oh yes, membership rates for golf (9 hole) went up to $995.00. I was told if we shut down because of covid we will give you credit for next season. Guess what, they kept the golf course open - one women in the main office - anybody membership or not can golf. They kept this open because they don't want to credit the people that bought memberships. This is a sorry organization!!

I live in Friendly Village

I live in Friendly Village, Simi Valley, Calif. I love it here. The manager, Kathy Manderfield, is fabulous. She is kind, considerate and quite knowledgeable about everything. In a world full of complaints, I have none. I always go to management if I hear anything that’s not right. They are always available. I have lived here for almost 10 years, and I plan to stay right here because management is wonderful. Thank you, Janelle Fisher #167

There is a special place in hell for…

There is a special place in hell for the people who own sun community. I live in windahm hills in Jackson Michigan. My roof and sky lights have been leaking for the whole two year tenancy. I have complained to everyone, including the corporate office to no avail. To top it all off I just went month to month because I’m tired of living in a tin box with a leaky roof and skylight, how do they repay me for not going into a new lease? They raised my rent 220.75 during a pandemic! Way to go sun I hope you feel really good about yourself.

We have out of control teens

We have out of control teens. Today we saw a teen slamming another teens head into the ground. No one reports what they seen, coz they are afraid of retaliation. They need to screen and evict when needed. But they don't.

By far the worst - Frontier Town, Berlin MD

The 2.4 review makes sense based on their managements complete incompetence and lack of customer service.

Reservations were made for Frontier Town in Berlin MD for the Thanksgiving week. Everything was paid in advance. The night before Thanksgiving we arrived at 4:45 to find out the office was closed, our packet with the site number was not left out, the useless security patrol if you want to call them that dismissed us, had no desires to help and went about their business like any other day. The office personnel that refunded our stay could care less that a customer was so poorly inconvenienced, again on a holiday weekend and the same can be said for the manager running that facility. The customers that reserve there are on their own. No one to contact after hours with emergencies, no one to help in similar situation, the 800 number is equally as useless. I will find it hard to believe that this is an isolated case. The GM's call was more on being disturbed then actually emphasizing with the customer who was forced to change plans last minute because of his poor leadership and lack of customer skills. Social Media will be bombarded with this experience. And, don't bother to contact the CEO or any member of the executive team, they too can care less.
