Quoted $1,369.90 via Expedia. At pickup I clearly said no extras, clearly said i dont want not the insurance not anything more. Was rushed through signing without a chance to read the contract, then charged €2,384.29 — nearly double — for extras I never agreed to. They even charged a one-way drop-off fee despite picking up and returning the car at the exact same location, which shows the invoice doesn't reflect what actually happened. Avoid,
they rushed me through the signing helpfully scrolled for me not giving me a chance to read,
after emailing them all they offered is to give back the one way and out of hours even though if they see i was over charged they should understand the rest was also taken wrongfully

**Very disappointing experience with Sixt**

I collected my rental car at Liszt Ferenc Airport, and initially everything went smoothly and easily.

However, three days later, at around 12:45 PM, I started the car and immediately received a **“Check Engine – Repair Needed”** warning. The car was running very badly and was clearly not safe or suitable to continue driving.

I contacted Sixt Assistance straight away and sent them photos and a video showing the problem. Despite being less than 200 km from the airport, it took almost **6 hours** for a replacement vehicle to arrive. The replacement car was finally delivered at around 6:30 PM.

This completely ruined our plans for the day, especially as I was travelling with my **2-year-old daughter**. What was most disappointing was the lack of customer care — nobody offered a proper apology or any compensation for the significant inconvenience and lost time.

Unfortunately, the replacement car also had a problem: **the window would not go back up properly.**

I expected much better service and reliability from Sixt. Based on this experience, I **cannot recommend this company** and would seriously consider using another rental company in the future.

We collected a Skoda from Budapest and the car was in good condition. Any marks on the car were clearly stated on the paperwork that I signed and there was no underhand situation re this paperwork and no nasty surprises when I got back. I was offered extra cover which I declined and was told to fill the car before returning. Upon my return I dealt with Mat / Mate and he looked around the car with me ensured car was re filled and there was no damage I was not stating to him. Basically so long as you don’t crash / damage car ,re fuel it and ask for exactly what you want in the contract ITS DEAD EASY !

Ich habe über chack24 und Orbit Car einen Mietwagen bei Sixt gebucht .
Bei Sixt Budapest wurde mir ohne Info ein eigener Vertag Untergeschoben !
Der von mir abgeschlossene Vertrag mit Chack24 wurde Trotz Anzahlung nicht Akzeptiert und keine Rückzahlung .
Meiner Meinung nach BETRUG !!

I rented a car from Sixt and was very surprised by the refuelling charge after returning it.

The car was refuelled with 35 litres of petrol, and I was charged €183 in total. Most of this amount was for the fuel itself, at around €3.90 per litre, plus an additional service fee for refuelling.

In my opinion, this is extremely expensive, especially since the regular petrol price at that time was well below €2 per litre. I understand that rental companies may charge a service fee if the car is not returned full, but this price per litre feels excessive.

I do not rent cars very often, so I am not sure if this is standard practice, but I was honestly shocked to pay €183 for 35 litres of fuel.

Ich habe in Budapest am Flughafen einen Wagen für 5 Tage gemietet. Kaution von 200€ zusätzlich wurde abgebucht wie auch 100 € zusätzlich zum Mietpreis für Tanken danach. Hier sollte mir auch die Differenz zurückerstattet werden. Der Tank war fast voll bei Abgabe. Somit sollte ich ca knapp 300 € zurückgebucht bekommen. Der sechs Kundenservice reagiert nicht und der deutsche redet sich mit Datenschutz raus. Ich werde den und Strafantrag erstatten und zum Anwalt gehen. Ich hatte dasselbe Problem schon einmal in Bukarest letzten Monat. Deswegen kann ich von Sixt nur abraten. B

A SIXT-nél béreltem autót, és nagyon elégedett vagyok. Modern, tiszta és jól felszerelt járművet kaptam, ráadásul a bérlés folyamata gyors és egyszerű volt.

A SIXT-tel bérelni mindig öröm! Az autó tökéletes állapotban volt, tiszta és jól felszerelt. Nagyon tetszik, hogy prémium autókat kínálnak elérhető áron. Az ügyintézés gyors és egyszerű volt, a személyzet pedig rendkívül profi és udvarias. Csak ajánlani tudom mindenkinek, aki megbízható autókölcsönzőt keres!

We had a car rental in Budapest. The experience is was very good. The guy in the office he is was really kind,and professional. I highly recommend him,and his service. I rent a car couple of countries before, but this is was the best.

🚨 Warning for anyone renting a car in SIXT Hungary 🚨
During a recent car rental in Budapest, I clearly refused any additional insurance at the counter. Despite this, the company representative added an extra insurance item ("TG Tire & Windshield Protection") to my contract without my consent, which resulted in a €27.94 charge.
The representative had me sign the documents without properly disclosing that this charge was included. I only discovered it after returning the car.
When I complained, the company dismissed my claim and simply pointed to my signature — instead of acknowledging that their employee acted in a misleading and unfair way.
This practice is unacceptable and dishonest. I want to warn fellow travelers: read every single line of your rental agreement before signing, and don’t rely solely on what the staff tells you at the counter.
Please share so others won’t fall into the same trap.

One Star – Warning: Avoid SIXT Debrecen – Possible Scam

I had a terrible experience with SIXT Debrecen. Ten days after returning my rental car, I was hit with a charge of nearly £400 for a tiny scratch on an alloy wheel—barely visible in the photo they sent. This “damage” was not pointed out during the return (which happened during business hours), and no staff were available to inspect the vehicle with me.

This seems suspiciously like a pattern. After searching online, I found multiple similar complaints. It looks like they conduct a basic inspection when you pick up the car, but on return they examine the vehicle with a magnifying glass to find any minor mark they can bill you for—possibly charging different customers for the same damage.

I believe this is a dishonest and predatory practice. I strongly advise others to avoid renting from SIXT Debrecen.

Dont trust what they say. - READ the hole contract
before you sign. ( my mistake i did trust the lady in the counter ) and just signed.

Thieves, they charged us for refueling the vehicle while we received it at 7/8 level. They state themselves: "All vehicles must be refueled to the same level that you received at the time of pick up." They didn't want to admit their mistake and applied a penalty fare which is not fair.

Their cars are good, their service is good, but at the end of the day they are thieves. There was a tiny scratch on one rim when I left the car, and they charged me 850 Euros for it (the car itself is worth 20-25.000 Euros in the used car market), without my permission. They did not even ask it to me, they just charged the amount, because they can. They have clients' card details, so they can do whatever they want with it. What a scam. The amount was stolen from my card not because the damage costs that much, but because their catalogue says so :) I was never sent a car repair service invoice or something. Their penalties are just arbitrary nonsense numbers. Be careful what you sign when you rent a car. Supposedly, on the signed document when I was renting the car, it was written that the company can charge a client 218.000 HUF + VAT due to a scratch, regardless of how much the damage actually costs. Stay away from this place.

I have rented here twice now and both times they find something they say was caused by me. This time a small crack on the windshield which might have been there before as the vehicle had many scratches. I bought insurance too but they want to charge me more money for the small glass chip. Complete cheaters never rent again steal from people

They sent me a claim of a invisible tiny damage that was supposedly done by me. To be fair maybe it was done by me as i would never even think to notice such a thing, but probably not,
However i l'm attaching a photo of this nearly invisible scratch i was charged 105 euros for
Judge for yourself . I have rented a couple 100 times in different contries and was never charged for such a thing

My recommendation is stay away unless you're ready to pay double than the rental amount !!!

They lost me as a customer forever
