A dubious experience—I recommend avoiding them.
Rented for 12 days in August. When car was returned, they look for tiny things that even can't be seen with magnifying glass. Accuse you of scratches and damages you didn't cause. Hidden charges and greedy behavior. Save yourself the time and money.

The rental car was ok
The problem involved the return.
During his inspection, the rental representative took a cursory look at the vehicle, stopping at one spot and marking with a paint pen some damage.
There was no visable damage to paint or the car body. After the rental clerk moved away from the vehicle, I felt the area in question with my hand. I found no evidence of damage on painted surface.
I detected some small rough areas below the paint on the underviste area. It felt like the area had been roughen up by a file or grinder, or perhaps by road debris. There was no way in hell that anyone could have seen the rough area.
It appears the rental clerk knew ahead of time where to look.

Despite recording pre-existing damage on the vehicle at collection and drawing it to the attention of staff, the company still attempted to hold us responsible for it when we returned the car. We also encountered hidden charges that were not made clear at the time of booking. Based on our experience, I would not use this company again.

​I reserved a vehicle with Schiller Rent a Car in Budapest and paid €58 for the car rental plus €91 for additional insurance cover. Unfortunately, I forgot my driver's license, so I was unable to pick up the vehicle.
​While I understand that failing to present a physical driver's license at pick-up triggers a non-refundable policy on the vehicle booking, retaining the entire €91 insurance charge is completely greedy and unfair.
​Insurance is meant to cover risk while driving. Since the vehicle was never handed over and never driven a single meter, no insurance service was ever rendered or risk assumed by the company. Refusing to refund even the insurance portion demonstrates zero customer goodwill and poor business ethics.
​I strongly advise caution when booking with them—if anything unexpected goes wrong at pickup, they will keep every single euro, including payment for services they never provided.

Very fairness and correct service together with excelent fleet of cars.

Rented cars from this company for years now.
As an 'appreciation' for my loyalty, Schiller charged me for a dent that wasn't caused by me.
I presented photographic evidence that proved the fact but was completely ignored.
So do yourself a favor and stay away from this company

I rented a recent model car from you for a week, and the rental went very smoothly.

However, I've noticed that after a month after returning the vehicle, the deposit has still not been refunded to my account.

Polite and professional staff, easy rental process. Recommended.

It was a very easy streamlined process to pick up the car at Budapest airport. Service was friendly. The drop off was also very easy and efficient process. Unfortunately, There some scratch damages occurred during the rental period, but the process of evaluating the damage and damage bill was fair, fast and straighforward on return, and my third party full cover insurance refunded the full amount.

Huurwagen op BUD airport. Ik kwam met één uur vertraging aan. Hier werd geen probleem van gemaakt. Had online papieren doorgestuurd. Alle papieren waren aangemaakt, enkel nog tekenen en documenten voorgelegd.
Afhaling en terug brengen ging zéér vlot.
Ik had een kleine wagen gehuurd, deze was recent 30.000km , van alle comfort voorzien. Reed soepel, speed limiter en cruisecontrol. Deze laatste was ook uitgerust met snelheidsaanpassing van de wagen voor u. Trekt automatisch terug op wanneer de baan vrij is. Had ik niet verwacht bij een ECO wagentje.
Ik heb op geen enkel gebied een negatieve ervaring.

I rented a car from them in March, just for two days. When I took it back, two men came to check the car. They did it very thoroughly. They inspected every detail with a torch. They looked very desperate to find something while they were asking if I had insurance. (I didn’t buy insurance from them but I had my general travel insurance). They looked behind and around the wheels with the torch, actually it was a bit ridiculous. Finally they managed, found a scratch on the windscreen. It was weird but we were in a hurry to catch our flight and travelled with a sleeping one year old. So we were an easy target. I asked them what would happen, they said they didn’t know but the “guys” would decide. Whoever the guys were, they decided quickly. We weren’t even on the aircraft, I got the invoice for about 1000+€ and my card was charged. I can’t prove, hence I can’t state that the scratch wasn’t there, but I just got the feeling like the fellows with other one star comments.
Many write here that they didn't buy insurance from them but had one from a third party and they got charged for something. It looks like a pattern for me.
Well the “guys” were quick but the accountant not that much. They had reserved 1000€ as a deposit in the beginning but they charged me for the amount of the invoice. So my balance looked for a week like 1000€ reserved and 1000+€ taken. It was quite odd that they didn’t take the deposit and the rest of the invoice. They said that they had released the deposit immediately when they charged me, it must be my bank who keeps the money back. Well, I have rented a car many times, never taking longer to get the deposit back than a few hours. In contrast, I rented a car from another company (that's why I remembered this case and commented here). They just went around the car to see if there was any damage and released my deposit. It took 3 minutes. So no, I don’t believe that my bank kept the money back.
Anyway, I don’t recommend Schiller. Rather take the bus.

I do not recommend Schiller Rent A Car at all – not to Israelis, locals, or any tourist in Hungary.

❌ Beware – they scam customers!
As many reviews mention, this company tricks people. The good reviews? Just luck.

✅ What happened to us:

We received the car with friendly service.

They photographed it from all angles – so did I.

They offered extra insurance, but we declined (we already had external coverage).

⚠ When returning the car:

Returned it to another branch.

Two staff members inspected it suspiciously.

Found a tiny, minor scratch – charged €455 from my deposit!

💡 My conclusion:
This isn’t one bad employee – it’s the company’s policy.
A money-hungry business that steals from its customers.
Do not rent from them – they are dangerous and will take your money.

Schiller Rent a Car with its modern and up-to-date carpark, excellent service and very acceptable prices has always made my trips within Hungary comfortable. They are the best!
