Similarweb is my most favorite software for competitor research. I have been using it to gather a significant amount of traffic data on competitors and identify trends in our industry. I am consistently impressed by the depth of data that Similarweb provides about our competitors.

High quality service, can not fault that. Offers a lot of information about competitor websites, it really puts site performance into perspective. My main complaint is the "no refund" policy on the official site, which is why I am not giving this company 5 stars. However, when I made a mistake regarding this (this really was of my own doing) the customer service team was excellent and they did refund me for my critical mistake.

I never signed up for the trial, nor had any contact with this company. Then I noticed $199/month charges on my bill from them! They have fraudulently charged me $2400. My bank has blocked them, yet they keep trying to process the $199 payment every month (they charged me 4 times on the same day!). BEWARE!!!

I strongly advise caution when using Similarweb. Today, I attempted to access what was advertised as a free trial, only to find that my account was immediately charged $199 for a full monthly subscription, without any clear or explicit warning.

This is a textbook example of dark patterns — deliberately vague or misleading interface design that pushes users into paying without realising it. At no point was I shown a clear confirmation screen or an explicit notice that I was agreeing to a paid plan.

This kind of practice is not only unethical but potentially unlawful under consumer protection laws in the EU, UK, US, and even Israel, where Similarweb is based. These laws require explicit and informed consent before any charge is made — and that clearly did not happen in my case.

I’ve contacted support requesting a refund and hope to receive it. But the fact that this happened at all shows a serious lack of transparency and respect for users.

If you're thinking about using Similarweb, be extremely careful. What looks like a free trial may end up costing you hundreds of dollars, without warning.

Similarwebs' customer service team contacted me after leaving my previous, negative review and were very accommodating of rectifying the situation shown below. It's clear they want their customers to be satisfied. If we need a SEO research tool in the future, Similarweb will def be a consideration.

Business model revolves around the human tendency to forget they started the free trial. Nothing is free in this world. Product is high quality but I'm going to use Semrush in spite of their business practices.

Great customer service, I didn't use the product that much but the people running it was kind and great.

I'm really frustrated to see that you’ve charged me $1875, even though I cancelled my 7-day trial on time. I was clear about cancelling, and I was under the impression that I wouldn’t be charged if I did so.

I’ve tried contacting the company but haven’t been able to get through. I expect a full refund as soon as possible. I followed the correct steps to cancel, and this charge is completely unfair...

The best tool to compare against competition in terms of traffic volumes, sources and demographics. Similar Web's data on my group site's traffic closely matches what I see using the internal trackers / GA. Site has many features that allow you to check your position at a glance, or deep-dive into urls/campaigns/sources if you so desire. They have recently really build their app analytics, which were lacking prior to that

No response to email for refund/cancel fee. Charging 1.8k dollars for service i don’t need or don’t use is just wow. Will change star rating if someone handles this quickly for me. Can’t afford that fee, just want to cancel and not be charged.

Signed up for a 7-day trial and was charged nearly $300 after forgetting to cancel—totally on me. However, I reached out immediately to request a refund, and it took over a week to get a reply. Despite barely using the platform and contacting them right away, they refused to issue a refund.

This is not how a reputable SaaS company should operate. Avoid Similarweb if you value transparency and customer support.

I bet they will respond here with some boilerplate template response asking me to email their support team to resolve the issue.

I accidentally subscribed to similarweb and had a write off of 300+ euros on my account... I mailed them with my problem and they agreed to refund my money, eventough it was all my fault. Very good service and communication. :)

After more than a week (and they promised to get back within one business day) and a few emails to the company requesting for a refund and not hearing anything, (while i get more and faster responses on trustpilot from Similarweb which is making a feeble attempt to save their reputation with excuses like not having my email address earlier (an absolute lie - read my other review)), i finally got a response to my email. Guess what it says? "After reviewing your request, it looks like we’ll need assistance from our Billing department to address it. I’ve forwarded your inquiry to them and will update you as soon as we hear back." EXCUSE ME? I have already detailed my issue to them more than a week ago. I have also detailed my issue here. They are making it sound like they are hearing it for the first time. And now they have passed the buck to another department and we are at their mercy, as they need to "hear back". C'mon?

I was not born yesterday. First they ignore customers' request for refund (which angry customers are asking for. Why? Because they were duped into thinking they no longer had a valid subscription when they actually had one. but it was hidden from them), and Similarweb keeps ignoring these customers for as long as they can. When customer gets fed up, and comes here to complain, Similarweb responds quickly with lies. And now, after more than a week, they finally give a patronising reply to my requests made more than a week ago asking for more time.

Similarweb just want to customers to give up and forget.

I think this is how Similarweb actually makes money. From duping customers and pocketing the money when customers give up and forget.

No honour in this company at all. SCAM! don't sign up for the trial!
