I purchased a Samsonite Chronolite DLX Spinner 75/28 Ivory Gold suitcase in the UK in 2023 (priced at £388.5). The carry handle recently broke. Despite being well within its 10-year warranty period, I was told the original matching part has already been discontinued after just 3 years. What kind of warranty is this?

I provided clear photos and the exact product code, yet they still sent the wrong spare part (a handle cap) on the first attempt. This delay directly caused me to be unable to use the suitcase for my trip.

When they finally sent a handle replacement, it was a major downgrade—a cheap black synthetic handle to go on an Ivory Gold suitcase, replacing the original brown leather design. It looks completely mismatched and ruins the whole aesthetic. When I expressed my disappointment, I was simply told that warranty only guarantees basic function, not appearance.

If consumers only cared about basic functionality and ugly replacement parts, there would be no reason to pay nearly £400 for a premium brand like Samsonite. Leaving me with a suitcase that looks so ugly I no longer want to use it is a total waste of money. Paying a premium price for such terrible service is simply not worth it and extremely disappointing.

Sourcing the replacement parts for the broken hinge was straightforward and they were sent free of charge as the case was under warranty.

Only downside is that we have four of these very expensive cases and this is the second hinge that has broken. As I see from other reviewers that they had the same problem, the hinges may be either poorly designed or constructed with poor quality materials so I would be concerned about repair costs when the warranty ends.

I ordered spare parts for my Samsonite suitcase, the parts arrived quickly per UPS with no charge.

Samsonite is simply the best. I honestly don’t think there is anything better out there. The quality, design, durability, and attention to detail are absolutely exceptional. Every product feels premium, reliable, and built to last.

E-mailed the company to purchase a new wheel for my Samsonite large case. They were brilliant, put all the details in. Got a e-mail shortly after saying they have sent me a replacement out with no charge. Thank you so much, was thinking had to buy a new case. Thank you again such brilliant service well done x

I purchased a brand new case onlinr for £265! I was happy when it eventually arrived! Used once and zipper broke off. Reported the issue - took over a week for them to collect the cass. It went straight to their repair centre. When I tracked the return and emailed the repair centre they were as rude as can be. Told me they had received in 40 other cases and their policy is 10 days turnaround. I waited the 10 days no update - then I get a rude email they have to order the part and it could take weeks! So far it has been nearly a month since rhe return - I have complained to Samsonite, asked they send me a replacement - no answer!! I am furious I have no case in my possession do not use!!! Awful Company aftersales

A Great Example of Customer Service

I recently travelled with my 20 year-old Samsonite Spinner suitcase, and unfortunately the baggage handlers at the airport managed to dislodge one of its wheels. With one wheel missing, the suitcase was extremely difficult to manoeuvre, and I was understandably very upset.

When I returned home, I contacted Samsonite Customer Services and provided all the product details. I was amazed that, within just two weeks, they sent me a replacement wheel completely free of charge. I was able to replace it myself, and my trusty 20-year-old suitcase is back in action!

What fantastic service from Samsonite. It is reassuring to know that a company continues to support its products and customers even after 20 years. Excellent customer service and a great reason to remain a Samsonite customer!

The case I have received from this company. It is scratched and scrapped at the front and for a case over £400 I expect a top class product.

Absolutely terrible suitcases and even worse customer service.

I used my suitcase for the second time and the wheel came completely off leaving the airport. After months of chasing Samsonite to repair it, they simply state it is expected and it is not covered by any guarantee or warranty and I should buy another one of their cases. It took them almost a year to respond with that and they simply did not care stating their products are built and such damage is expected.

Samsonite is not honoring their warranty for my backpack. The zipper busted after just a few trips. That is unusual. But the problem is the warranty team.

Ordered 4 new wheels, free of charge, for our Samsonite suitcase that's 12 years old.
I really wish more companies were this environmentally conscious.
I'm sure we'll get at least another 12 years out of it, apart from a few scuff marks the rest of it looks brand new.

Helpful staff and Samsonite still has stock for luggage more than 10 years old, which is really GREAT.

The parts ordered aren’t being made anymore. My trolley was bought 2017/18 and with only 5 year warranty instead of 10. Now I’m left with a trolley with faulty wheels and broken retractable handle for a bag that’s costed me £160 👎🏼

Bought a magnum eco 55cm luggage and have always used it as a carry on and never checked it in. The case cracked at the front and the customer care team said it’s due to third party damage and hence will not covered under the warranty. I’d expect a sturdier product from the upscale brand and better customer support given it’s still within warranty period.

Samsonite make great suitcases. But occasionally wheels & other parts get damaged. The site is a great platform to find all the spare parts. The site is easy to navigate & if your luggage is within the warranty period the parts & postage is totally free. The service is great & I would highly recommend them.

I purchased a set of four Spinner - C-Lite Suitcases in March at a cost of over £1,500. On the first trip the zip broke on one of the 75cm suitcases. Today I have just returned from the suitcases second trip to find my suitcase arrive on the carousel covered in cellophane - the zip had come apart. It its clear they have a manufacturing fault. These suitcases are not fit for purpose. Please do not waste your money. These suitcases have caused a lot of unnecessary stress and time spent on holiday sourcing new suitcases.
