Great event very well run with lots of marshall's at the right places for a hm, lots of goodies at the end well needed, a fantastic course very challenging but very good really enjoyed it one of my favourite hm.
The one downside was getting into the car park last mile took half an hour but we arrived early so got in plenty of time.

I’ve only done one RunThrough event, and I have mixed feelings about it. I recently ran the Girona 50km (which was closer to 56km!). The course was stunning, the aid station volunteers were friendly, the atmosphere was good and the event was reasonably well organised, but I do have a few comments.

My first concern relates to the mandatory kit. I was rather condescendingly told to “use my initiative” when asking about it. Surely, mandatory kit is either mandatory or it isn’t!

The kit list stated that 50km runners needed to carry 1L of liquid. However, when the hot weather kit was activated, it said additional water capacity was required for all distances. Did this mean 50km runners needed to carry more than 1L capacity? It wasn’t clear. On race morning, I asked for clarification and was told that “as long as you have 500ml, you’ll be fine,” which contradicted the published kit list.

The list also required a waterproof jacket with taped seams. Looking around, it seemed that very few runners were carrying one, so I asked whether it was really necessary given the boiling hot, sunny weather. This was when I was told, in a rather patronising tone, to “use my initiative.” If an item is listed as mandatory, it’s reasonable to assume it is required. Should runners be deciding for themselves which mandatory items matter and which do not? In other ultras I’ve completed, that approach would have resulted in disqualification.

We were told there would be a kit check on arrival and possible spot checks during the race, but neither happened. The same person told me they would at least be checking water capacity, but that didn’t happen either. My impression was that the mandatory kit requirements were more of a box-ticking exercise than something the organisers intended to enforce. To add to the confusion, the kit list on the website appeared to change in the lead-up to the event, meaning some items I had purchased specifically for the race were ultimately unnecessary.

My second comment concerns the signage. Overall, it was good and the route was generally well marked. However, at one point the course crossed over itself and the signage became confusing.

Unfortunately, a few of us followed a 50km sign that was intended for a later section of the race. I accept that I should have paid closer attention to my GPS, that's my fault entirely, but because we were still on part of the official course, there were still flags present and my watch still believed we were on the right route. Perhaps the signs could have been a little clearer at that particular point.

Overall, I enjoyed the race and the course itself was excellent. However, there were a few discrepancies between what was communicated beforehand and what actually happened on the day. As a result, while I wouldn’t rule out another RunThrough event, this experience has left a slightly bitter taste in my mouth.

What an amazing event and organisation, everyone involved was so friendly easy to follow instruction from the minute I signed up to the event details on the day - route was lovely and so nice to see water provided on the route for us 5k runners would definitely recommend run through and this event for future

I love going to runthrough events and have been running their events for a number of years now. Media city is probably my fave event.
I particularly like media city as there is a 5k option. I would like to see more 5k events around.

I’ve completed a few RunThrough events. Most recently the Newmarket Half Marathon. Always well organised events, enthusiastic marshals and great medals. Bring on the next one…

Newmarket half marathon 31st may 2026
Very badly handled by some of the staff on the barriers. There were no diverion signs which led to alot of confusion, a cyclist was told that he had to go to cambridge and back down the A14 to enter Newmarket on the far sde from Dullingham it would have taken him all day never mind the safety issue of cycling on the A14, another couple in their 80s were told the same which seemed to really distress the driver, a lady who lived in Dullingham road was told she could not go home until 1pm , one motorist tried to drive through the barrier the barrier staff stupidly placed themselves in danger by standing in front of the car filming the driver on a mobile phone which only added fuel to the situation. Drivers watching were discussing whether to phone the police before someone was hurt. Fortuately there was a retired police officer in the queue who was able to calm things down.
NEXT TIME the organisers could provide sign post diversions, inform staff of other routes to help drivers and staff who know how to talk to people and maybe open roads once runners have passed through rather than keep the whole course shut all morning.

Brilliant events, organised well, varied locations and regular.

Hugely accessible, customer service is great, open for all abilities with no snobbery! Highly recommended!

Did the Fox Ultra 62k at the weekend, stunning route, fabulously signposted, well organised and plenty of Marshalls on route.
I think one more aid station was needed as a little too far apart for such a distance and due to the distance feel some sandwiches or a little something more substantial could be added to the food stations

Got season pass which makes it really good value for money and can enter race at short notice. Volunteers always helpful, friendly and supportive. Have recommended Run Through to friends, some of whom have joined me!

The Colchester Zoo 10k stampede was another event by Run Through that I have attended.It was very well organised with plenty of signage to the location.The event village was excellent with plenty of vendors,a great atmosphere and most importantly lots of Loos.The course started in the zoo and went out into the beacountrtside before finishing back at the zoo it had some challenging points and its was ver well marshalled,overall very enjoyable to run.Post race goodies were a help your self service which is great idea,free photos was a bonus.As race days go this was one of the best I have done this year.I can highly recommended Run Through as an excellent event organiser.

Great organization, felt prepared before the race especially considering the heat. We were texted the day before with weather based reminders about water and kit. Well stocked aid stations and friendly marshals along the way. The finish area was great, nice to have the cold 0% beers and the cooling stations. The slate coaster medal is excellent!

Ran the Fox Trail 41km for the third year running
Really love this event, not overly hilly but especially challenging this year due to the heat. It was brutally warm in places.
Great course, excellent organisation with a really well marked route.
Marshall’s were so good and were always in the right places (so important)
Finish area is great and this years medal was the best yet.
Hopefully be back for number 4 in 2027.

Well organised event for runners and on this occasion for spectators also with the inclusion of food stalls shame no hot food though.
My only criticism would be the final 100m run in to the finish! The ground was very rough with some big loose chunks that could easily turn a ankle over but the rest of the coarse was great 👍

Great event, lovely staff and runners will definitely consider doing this again in future.

**** thank you for the reply, but unfortunately what you're saying is simply not true. You've already told me twice via email that the results had been uploaded when they were not and now you're saying there was an error but they're now there.....well they're not.

Stop lying, admit you're struggling to resolve the problem and get the right resource to resolve***

I have very mixed opinions of RunThrough. Their events are generally very enjoyable, but there are way more down south which isn't ideal. They're priced well and the organisation is very good.

My main issue is that they advertise their Trail races as index races for UTMB and ITRA, however at the moment they have stopped providing results so their last few trail races have not been scored.

For those of you who rely of these results for sponsorship etc, just be careful and maybe go elsewhere until this issue is resolved.
