Amazing event
Just completed the ABBATHON 10K in Glasgow today. It was an awesome event, everyone involved was so friendly and laid back and it was a very welcoming environment. The tribute band was good fun, the music along the course great for motivation. It was very well organised and polished. I really hope the event comes back next year, as would love for it to be an annual event for my friends and I. Super recommend, it was really smooth and I wouldn’t hesitate to participate in another Run Fanatics event.

Putting The Fun Back In A Run
What a fun morning at the 10km ABBATHON at Heaton Park, Manchester. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite a hilly, challenging course but the event was very well organised (plenty of toilets!), extremely encouraging, friendly Marshalls and Abba music all the way. More importantly the race was all inclusive and catered for all running levels. Would recommend.

5km Abbathon at Heaton Park
We ran the 5km Abbathon at Heaton Park and it was so much fun! The vibes were all there - was great to see everyone in costumes! Abba Eternal was great to watch and even safety Liam got a cheer! The medals and gifts you get at the end are also brilliant!
The only thing I would suggest is maybe let the 10km runners run a little bit earlier as there was a bit of congestion at one point. But other than that couldn’t fault it! Can’t wait to do it again!

Thanks so much for the feedback, Laura, and we’re really glad you had such a great time!
We try to design our courses as a one-mile loop so runners pass the DJ every lap. This helps keep the atmosphere contained and allows us to cover the course with more music, using both stationary speakers and our music guides.
On one-mile loop courses, the fastest 10K runners can complete their first lap in around six minutes. Because of this, we need the 5K runners to start shortly before the 10K runners complete that first lap, to avoid completely blocking the fastest 10k runners.
Going forward, when we have higher attendance numbers, we’ll increase the course lap distance to help reduce congestion and make the route feel less busy.
Thanks again for the review, and we hope to see you again soon! 😊🏃♂️✨

Waited well over half and hour in the pouring freezing rain for the 5k run at the starting line. To add to that, prior to this starting line wait, Run fanatics facilities provided did not cater to the amount of people that needed to register upon arrival or understand when or where to start the race and so we had to join a queue which went on for half an hour just to get our place.
The ‘warm up’ which you sold to us was very disappointing we could not even see or hear Taylor swift from where we were placed.

We’re disappointed to receive a one-star review and wish you had got in touch sooner.
The event you attended was our first ever event and, due to several third-party suppliers letting us down on the day, we recognise that for some participants the experience fell below the standard we aimed to deliver.
Since then, we have held four further events, two of which were in London, and they have all been extremely successful. Based on participant feedback, we genuinely believe we now organise the best running events in the UK.
If you had contacted us closer to the event, we would have offered replacement tickets to a future event, as we did for Mira, Lorraine, Laura, Lucy and Leela. All of them later updated their Trustpilot reviews to five stars, which we believe reflects how much the events have improved since our first outing.
We would also like to clarify a few points raised in your review:
- The race started approximately 30 minutes late, not one and a half hours. While this was still not acceptable, all subsequent events have started on time after we changed race timing partners.
- Registration queues have been eliminated by posting race bibs out in advance.
- The tribute act now performs for 45 minutes, followed by a 10-minute warm-up.
- We now also have a DJ and professional sound team on site for the full duration of the event to ensure everyone can see and hear clearly.
Although we do not currently have a London event scheduled, if you would like to claim replacement tickets, please contact us at info@runfanatics.com and we’ll be happy to help.
Totally recommend for all Taylor Swift fans!
We had a fantastic time at the most recent Swiftathon event. My husband and I attended with our 6 year old son and the run was so much fun.. the atmosphere was laid back with everyone having a good time (although there were some competitive runners, there was no pressure and the course was very accommodating for all abilities). The focus was on having a great time, with the music audible throughout the course and the commentary was hilarious! Some brilliant outfits too. We loved the cake and goody bag at the end. A gorgeous medal. Overall, a great atmosphere and a very well organised event. Thank you!

Lovely day at Swiftathon Glasgow
Had a great time running the 10k at the Swiftathon at Glasgow Green. Event was well organised and a lot of fun with all the music before and during the race. Friendly & high energy marshals with a good water station. Fantastic finisher's bag at the end with a great medal and stickers/keyrings etc!
A few little things that could possibly be improved:
The 10k course was about 300m short. I ran with 4 other friends (at different paces) and each of us only got to about 9.7k on our watches. A bit frustrating if you actually wanted a 10k PB!
The runners with the speakers did a great job but I might suggest having them all synced up to play the same song at the same time. A lot of the time 3/4 different songs were being played around me (or the same song about 10 seconds apart!) which became a bit irritating/overstimulating at points.
But overall I thought it was a great event.

Hi Catherine,
Thanks for your review — we’re so pleased you enjoyed the event!
We work with an official race timing company that also manages results for certified events, so all start times and results are professionally recorded. The IPICO RFID chip timing system we use is the same technology used in the London Marathon. I’ll pass your comments on to them so they can look into this further.
Our music guides are something unique to Run Fanatics events. We have around 10–15 volunteer music guides, plus roughly 5 stationary speakers and a DJ, spread around the course to keep the energy high. Music guides are asked to press play at 10:20 am and then position themselves along the route. Unfortunately, Spotify only allows syncing across up to 4 devices, and as far as we know, there’s currently no technology that can perfectly sync 15+ speakers at once.
We are, however, exploring the idea of creating our own private web-based music platform that could stream directly to phones connected to speakers, which could help solve this.
Thanks again for your feedback — we hope to see you at another event soon!
A great event
A great event, so much fun! Great to have the music playing all round the loop.
Only improvement would be to have experienced pacers with set targets at a variety of paces, because the pacers carrying the speakers all ended up too fast and running alone when really they just be maintaining a pace.
Otherwise amazing event

Hi Edi,
Thanks so much for your feedback — we’re really glad you had a great time!
Just to explain a little — we’re always careful not to use the word “pacer” as the runners carrying speakers aren’t there to pace the run. Instead, they’re music guides, whose main role is to help spread music around the course where we don’t have stationary speakers.
All of our music guides are volunteers, and we typically have around 10–12 at each event. Since they all have different running abilities, we simply ask them to spread out as best they can.
As the company grows and we build a larger network of runners, we’d love to double up the role so some music guides can also act as proper pacers. But for now, it’s a bit tricky finding enough volunteers who are both happy to carry speakers and able to hit the most common 5K and 10K pace targets.
It’s definitely something we hope to implement in the future!

Whilst I had fun completing the race, as there was music and things throughout.
The race itself was late in starting which left a lot of waiting around (30 minutes).
This was the first one done in Glasgow so I do understand that these things do happen it was just frustrating.
The goodie bags at the end were a lovely touch as were all the photographs throughout the raced

Hi Arianne,
Thanks so much for your feedback — we really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
We work with an official race timing company, who also record results for certified events, so all our start times and results are professionally managed. The IPICO timing equipment we use for RFID chip timing is actually the same system used in the London Marathon — so it’s super accurate and reliable!
The official recorded start time was 10:40am — just 10 minutes later than planned — as our Taylor tribute singer treated everyone to an extra song, which slightly overran.
Thanks again for being part of the day and for getting in touch!
Great event in Glasgow
Great event in Glasgow, well organised and lots of fun! Only suggestion would be to stagger the speakers a bit better, quite a lot of long stretches with no music depending on whether the person with the speaker was running or walking. Fab atmosphere and hope you bring the Abba run to Glasgow!!!

Hi Dawn,
Thanks so much for the lovely feedback — we’re really glad to hear you had lots of fun! 😊
We’re always working to improve the music coverage throughout the course. To keep the atmosphere going, we use a mix of stationary speakers and around 10 music guides who run with portable speakers.
Our music guides are fantastic volunteers, and while we aim to space them evenly, there can sometimes be gaps. We’ve also found that some venues benefit from more stationary speakers than others, so that’s definitely something we’ll look to improve next time.
Thanks again for joining us — hope to see you at another event soon! 🎶🏃♀️

Amazing day at Glasgow Swiftathon event!
I had an amazing time with my friend at the Swiftathon 5K in Glasgow – what an unforgettable experience from start to finish! The event was extremely well organised, with everything running smoothly and helpful staff around who were very friendly and welcoming. There was an area set up for you to attach bib to t-shirt with plenty of safety pins which is always great!
The pre-run entertainment was a real highlight – the Taylor Swift tribute act was so much fun and really got everyone in the mood. You could feel the excitement building even before we started the course.
The pacers were brilliant – many of them had speakers playing all Taylor’s music which created an absolutely electric atmosphere throughout the run. It was impossible not to smile the whole way round!
The goodie bag at the finish line was top-tier - we got a Swiftathon medal, stickers, sweets, a keyring. Plus, there was plenty of free water and bananas for all runners, which was such a nice touch and really appreciated after the race.
This was such a happy and well-organised event - I won’t hesitate to sign up for another Runfanatics “athon”! I am a running beginner and the event has encouraged me to continue on my running journey and get fitter. Bravo!

Thank you so much! 💜 We’re over the moon that you and your little girls had such a magical time at Swiftathon.
Run Fanatics is run by a husband and wife duo who combined their love of running and Taylor to create Swiftathon — and we also have a two-year-old daughter of our own. So seeing the three of you out there running around Glasgow Green honestly melted our hearts. You truly made our day!
We’d love to return to Glasgow, and kind messages like yours really help us show how much the city enjoyed the event. We hope to see you and your girls on the start line again soon! 🎶👟✨
