This was awful and a huge ripoff. All I was looking for was a general checkup and an oil change and was quoted almost $500. It's worth it to just take it somewhere else and pay a fair price than to be... Zobacz więcej

Quick and reliable service
My check engine light came on in my truck. I took it to get a diagnostic scan done, and luckily, it showed I only needed a sparkplug replaced. When I took my truck to get the sparkplug replaced, they could not get to my truck for a week. Uugh! I know you aren't supposed to drive your vehicle when the check engine light is on, so instead of continuing to drive around to find a business to help me out, I drove home to do my searching on the internet.
I know they say replacing a spark plug is pretty easy, but being a 55-year-old female, this is not in my wheelhouse. So, after doing some research, I went with RepairSmith. Best decision ever! I didn't have to risk causing any damage to my truck by driving it anywhere or it breaking down somewhere. I just parked it in my driveway, and the very next day, they were able to come out and fix it. The technician was also able to do a more thorough scan and ensure what mechanical issue was occurring with the truck.
In the process of making the repair, a small hose broke. The technician had to order a new part and was back the very next day and fixed it within 10 minutes. All of this was done while I was able to be in my house getting things done. Another bonus is the fact that they could have even come to my work to do the repair as well. Yes, I might have had to pay a little bit more for this convenience, but it is more than worth it for me. I will 100% be calling RepairSmith again for any auto issues; as well as recommending them to everyone I know.
ZERO STARS all their reviews are…
ZERO STARS all their reviews are manipulated. No way the 4.9 on Google is real.
MY Mercedes was throwing a couple misfiring codes so I scheduled a sparkplug replacements along with a coil A replacement. Given I own a Mercedes I gave them a call to make sure there tech were certified I was assured the were.
Appointment day comes! The guy JOEL knew nothing about the car, had no idea where to start and and didn't even bring the right tools. He was at one point putting a part on upsidedown and in the process made my car worse! it's now throwing 5 codes vs the TWO I started with!!! Everything was recorded and documented before and during. Thank you Repair Smith! CRAP SERVICE!
Alternator went out after just over a year.
They put a bad alternator in my car, of course it went out after just over 1 year of use. The part is supposed to last on average 3-5 years. I'm not sure if they are using refurbished or cheap parts but it sure seems like it. Considering how much they charge for labor and miscellaneous fees in addition to the low cost of the parts makes me question their ethics. Mobile mechanics are a very specific niche and are generally required when a vehicle cannot be moved and a tow being unrealistic. Repairsmith takes advantage of this niche by installing low quality parts that last just long enough to be outside of warranty for an exorbitant price. Because of companies like repairsmith and the mechanics they employ, I've started doing repairs myself and learning a lot in the process, it's more time consuming for me, but it's also cost effective and more future-proof.
They've gone down hill
We used them Nov 2021 and had a great experience, so I reached back out to them today. I was quoted $1081 before tax for an alternator replacement. The part is $254, and they quoted an hour labor. When I questioned why they were more than double the other quotes I had gotten they said its because the offer a 12 month/12,000-mile warranty... So, $700 more for a 12-month warranty. When I questioned it she ended the conversation.
Terrible customer service!
Terrible customer service!
I had an appointment scheduled this morning. I informed repair smith that my vehicle is located in the parking garage, and I was told that the technician would be informed. The technician shows up in a huge van(It has happened before) and proceeded to get an attitude with me over the phone because my car is in the garage. After he finally decides to walk inside. He tries to jump start my car(after I told him that the battery is dead) and it shuts off twice. He still has an attitude by the way. He gets on the phone and walks away. I finally ask him where he’s going and he tells me that he’s cancelling the appointment. HORRIBLE customer service.
Terrible experience with a terrible company
Terrible terrible company. Had appointment for Christmas Eve from 2-4pm for a technician to replace my car battery so we could be with family on Christmas Day. Didn’t hear anything so I called at 4:30 to get an update. They told me they have to cancel and that there was nothing they could do. At that point, it was too late to find a replacement so we were unable to be with family on Christmas. Terrible customer service, very overpriced. I would recommend staying away from this awful company
Update: Came through in the end
Update 12/23/2022 RepairSmith bent over backwards to make this right. They rescheduled the appointment at my convenience and the tech arrived on time to complete the repairs. They even threw in a complimentary oil change which I really appreciate. The unexpected cancellations of the first 2 appointments was disappointing and frustrating but their customer service people made a huge effort to make amends and ensure my car was road-ready once again. I’ve used RepairSmith in the past and I will likely continue to do so.
12/19/2022. This “service” is unreliable. They do not show up when promised and always seem to be “running late”, which means they will NOT get to your appointment during “the window” and they will attempt to make amends by offering to reschedule. They won’t show up for the “new” appointment either! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU NEED YOUR CAR FIXED IN A TIMELY MANNER!!!
I ask for a general inspection and I…
I ask for a general inspection and I don’t even receive a report I ask the guy for a noise coming from the engine and he told me it was the a/c compressor he told me to fix cost me $1700 I changed the belt for myself and cost me $35 and the noise go

These people are con artists. They don't listen and try to charge you for stuff you don't need. Like a glorified jiffy lube. Upsell upsell.
I wouldn't take a $400 beater car to them.
They show up late for appointments if at all, they don't apologize, rude customer service, hang up on you when you express displeasure in a job poorly done and not listening....total disaster. Save yourself money and go to a real mechanic. Even going to your dealer would be cheaper than these hacks.
My appointment got canceled!
My appointment for this morning was canceled at the last minute by RepairSmith. A customer service representative called me this afternoon to explain the cancelation and offer an apology for my inconvenience and offer to reschedule. His call to assist in the matter improved my confidence in RepairSmith. I hope to receive good work from the technician at my rescheduled appointment.
Don't trust
Don't trust. Got an oil and now check engine light is on for a code that could mean (the wrong viscosity was used) ... I am going to have my mechanic check it and if it was caused by that, I'm reaching out to my lawyer. Save yourself the headache
No repair but billed same amount for service charge.
I made the appointment over the net they identified the vehicle to the point of asking for the VIN. A 98 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummings Diesel. I answered all of their questions adding a note that I did not know what was wrong with the vehicle. I was given a quote of $164 for replacing a sensor, there was no mention of a service or diagnostic fee. The technician arrived timely and was very professional. Unfortunately, he was not qualified to repair the vehicle, he did not bring any starting fluid and had to use mine. He did diagnose the problem as a failed fuel pump but was not capable of replacing it. He did give me a referral to someone to tow the vehicle out of my backyard and repair it. Then he informed me the charge was $184 and he did not perform any repairs. He stated it was some sort of service diagnostic charge. I informed him it was more than I was quoted for a repair, the technician called his supervisor the fee was reduced to $164.
I was quoted a price for a repair with no mention of a service diagnostic fee and then charged that fee with no repair. I feel that is deceptive and no attempt to warranty any of their work .
Technician never showed up
Technician never showed up, wasted 3 hours of my time waiting for him.
Falsely misrepresented condition of part installed
Installed a remanufactured part. The invoice says all parts are new unless stated. They didn't state it was remanufactured. That is illegal in the state of Texas. The part was defective. Tech charged me a diagnostic fee because the car still wouldn't start. He said it was my battery terminals. He said he corrected the cables and car started just fine after. The car never started just fine. It sounded sluggish and was slow to turn over. I complained to RepairSmith and was told that it couldn't be a starter issue, that I probably needed a new battery. The battery was replaced two days before the repair. It was connected the same way as he found it and was at least trying to turn over the starter before it failed. So the old starter was getting enough power even with the issues the tech identified. Then it wouldn't start at all in the heat of the day. We had to use roadside assistance to get us home one afternoon. The tow truck driver said I need a new starter. I told him it had just been replaced. He said, well you need a new one. He also fixed the terminals that the Repair Smith tech supposedly fixed. Apparently, they still weren't tight enough. My husband replaced the terminals. Still had the same issue with sluggish and intermittent starting. I sent all of this information to RepairSmith and they won't respond to my emails or demand for compensation. I missed an event that I paid money to go to. My husband and I ordered a brand new starter from Amazon and installed it. It it lightening fast at starting. There is no delay in turning over at all. Therefore, it was absolutely a defective part that never worked properly and required way more power than my car could conceivably provide. The heat increased the issue and left me unable to drive my car during the day. I understand that parts can be defective but their customer service was awful. I set up an appointment for a tech to look at it for warranty repair but after the tow truck driver's statement, I wanted to cancel it. They were going to charge me for cancelling less than 24 hours in advance so I moved the appointment out and they still were going to charge me to cancel. I cancelled multiple times and replied no to their appointment text and they still sent a tech out! This company is just horrible.
Dylan was outstanding
Dylan was outstanding. He was professional and courteous. He is very good and knowledgeable. I believe you Need more technicians like him that get the job done!!! I would like Dylan to be the technician on my car anytime it requires service. BThompson 09-21-22
I had a problem with my ignition and I…
I had a problem with my ignition and I called repairsmith because I cannot moved my car. The technician came by and diagnosed the problem but didn’t fixed a god damn thing and billed me for $160 for 5 minutes of labor. Stay away from this fraudulent company.
I recently contacted repair Smith to do…
I recently contacted repair Smith to do work on my Chevy Silverado truck after speaking with the representative on the phone I realized that they have no clue and no way of customers having discussions with the mechanics they promise the moon and stars and produce nothing there now trying to abscond with a delay deposit on my credit card when I was well within the 24-hour period they said they would give me a confirmation email it's been 12 hours no confirmation email I know exactly what they're doing this is a horrible company extremely dishonest do not trust them
Very bad company
If you value your time, please don’t go to them. I booked my appointment yesterday between 2-4pm and it was 2:53pm, I contacted customer service to ask what time the repair person would be at my house, she said it will be between 2:45-4pm. At 3:20pm, Daniel (repair person) called me to let me know that he will be late, so he’ll be there in 30-45 minutes. At 4pm, he called me again, he won’t be there until 6:30pm and recommended me to reschedule at 8am tomorrow. I told him that I work at 8am so i rescheduled at 4:30pm. He said that it was fine but I should do the 8am appointment and told me to leave the key in my car and I could just take another car to work. I told him that I couldn’t leave the key in the car all day because I didn’t want my car to get stolen. He said, okay then I’ll change your appointment to 4-6pm tomorrow. So the next day, I contacted the customer service again at 4:40pm to see when he was going to be at my house, she said, they needed to reschedule me because ”due to emergency that I can’t control.” Don’t schedule with them. They don’t care that other people also have things to do beside sitting at home all day to wait for someone who will never show to repair your cars. I will never schedule with them again. I canceled everything so that I could be there for the appointment but they didn’t even bother to show up.
RepairSmith Not recommended on any level.
Repair Smith NOT RECOMMENDED ON ANY LEVEL!
Repair Smith has a simple but good website that allows one to pick the specific problem one needs to have fixed. The convenience and sales point here - they come to you! Price will also be shown right away for the specific services, which is great.
It stops right there.
PRICING:
I needed a diagnostic for my vehicle due to engine light issues. Repair Smith’s Price for Check engine light Diagnosis is $170.00 for Diagnosis + $19.99 Mobile Service fee.
It is quite expensive considering local repair shops charge on average anywhere from $119 - $125 for check engine light diagnostics.
I couldn’t leave the vehicle at the local repair shop so I took a chance with Repair Smith despite the high price.
Before finalizing the order and appointment day, Repair Smith offered replacement parts that could be added to the order before finalizing. In my case the option of a gas cap replacement and replacement Rear Oxygen Sensor (my vehicle has 2!) was offered. Whether it was necessary or not it still was offered as those parts can be a problem when a check engine light problem occurs.
Gas cap replacement - $67.55! The part itself was listed at $33.55 Labor was listed at $34.00!
Most people who read this know that a gas cap is a cheap part - usually anywhere from $6-$12 on average. It takes a maximum of 2 Minutes to take the old gas cap off and put the new one on! How is the labor cost of $34.00 justified? How is the price for the gas cap justified? Of course there are gas caps that cost more than $33 but not in my case.
Second offer the oxygen Sensor replacement - an extra $245.29 if I’d choose this option.
They list the Oxygen Sensor at $160.29 and labor Cost at $85!
For my vehicle an oxygen sensor from Bosch (Premium OE fitment) is $25.50 (I have 2 so it makes sense to replace both). The Oxygen sensors are screwed into the exhaust pipe, one in front and one behind the Catalytic converter. They are 2 parts that are easy to get to, once the car is high enough to get underneath comfortably. Unplug the electric connectors unscrew the sensors, screw the new ones back in, plug the electric connectors back in - done. An experienced Mechanic should not need more than 6-8 minutes to replace both. How is a price of $245.29 justified, knowing the actual prices and labor times?
Appointment:
Up front - If you are not at home at the scheduled time Repair Smith charges you $50 for missing the appointment!
They failed to show up 3 times in a row (Original Appointment was Tuesday, rescheduled for Friday, rescheduled for Saturday).
I had not received any messages, emails or phone calls to tell me that the mechanic would not show up or run late. Each time I contacted customer service and they were apologetic telling me the mechanic was behind schedule and rescheduled.
After Saturday I wanted everything canceled but they offered to waive the charges and come back on Sunday. I accepted and finally on Sunday, 3 hours past the scheduled time frame the mechanic showed up.
I had the car ready for diagnostics - the mechanic hooked up his diagnostics tool and said I had an EVAP leak and a misfire problem (I knew that but had not been able to find the cause of these error messages. He ended up finding a small vacuum hose (PCV hose) that was brittle, told me to replace that erased the error codes from the car computer and called it diagnosed. I was charged despite having been told the diagnostics would be free of charge.
Contacting customer service yet again - they told me that it had been a misunderstanding on my end but they did give me a discount and the final amount came down to $103.
NOTHING WAS FIXED:
I ended up ordering the PCV hose ($7) replaced it and drove the car about 100 miles before the same errors came back. In reality the diagnostic did not find the problem and therefore was incomplete. A real car shop would keep testing and searching until it would find the actual problem.
Further - after the diagnostics my test results were ready (via email) . The report claimed that the vehicle had been checked for basic health - like tire pressure, wind-shield wipers, windows etc. I essentially don’t care about all that - but don’t claim you've added an “extra” service when you didn’t. The car was NOT test driven for a suspension test - as I said NOTHING that was claimed they had serviced had been actually checked. Again I essentially don't care about that as long as the actual problem is fixed.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I wasted $103 and an entire week for a service that was not only managed extremely poorly but was not able to find the actual problem.
I wonder how a company with such poor business practices can stay afloat - massively over-priced, not dependable and the worst, in my case, no results.

Craig Tsao (RepairSmith) declined our service appointment 20 minutes before it was scheduled. We don’t have an issue with declining the appointment. Waiting until the last second is unforgivable. Do not reward them!
