With the Railboard iPhone or iPad app, you can save lots of money by finding super-cheap split train tickets. Plus, you have easy access to live train times powered by National Rail Enquiries.
With Split Tickets, our clever algorithms find combinations of tickets that together offer the same journey but at a lower price than a regular ticket.
This is done by splitting regular train tickets at calling points along the journey. So instead of one ticket from A to C, you have two tickets from A to B and B to C. It can be quite complicated and depends on the ticket type and the train operating company. For the full details on each ticket, we recommend opening the ticket details to see the information there.
But we've added your review as another vote to see what we can do to make that information easier and faster to see, as it's obviously quite important!

Best UK Rail App by a Country Mile
Railboard is the best app for UK rail travel by a country mile. Perfect for live departures and journey planning. It's simple, smart, reliable and ad-free and is a great place to purchase tickets too with no booking fees. I love how easy it is to add e-tickets to my Apple Wallet and to purchase them with Apple Pay. I've recommended it to loads of people and they've all been delighted.

Super off peak ticket couldn’t use this!!
So I booked a tickets from Stamford to aldershot which I do most weekends but normally sell me a advance tickets but this time it sold me a super off peak ticket which the train left London Waterloo at 10.24 but on this ticket SWR do not let you travel untill after 12.01 but the customer service was really rude and I didn’t travel requested a refund and they said the case is closed really not happy

Sorry to hear about your negative experience with Railboard.
The ticket you purchased does indeed have those restrictions for Monday to Friday, but not at the weekend, which was your travel date.
As such, the ticket was completely valid, and not eligible to be cancelled on that basis.

I apologise that you feel let down by us on this occasion, but unfortunately, the booking was not eligible for a refund.

Great app with one annoying bug
Railboard is a really great app for checking train times and connections, but less great for buying tickets - it seems impossible to buy a ticket for two adults when only one has a discount railcard! The app assumes either none or both have a railcard. Not great if you need a ticket for yourself and your teenage railcard-owner kid. Other apps and websites don't have this problem and it must be very easy to fix - please do it! For now, I've ended up getting tickets from Railboard if I need them for just one person, but go elswhere for multiple ticket purchases.

Good for tracking trains, less good for buying tickets
Good app, especially for its “live arriving/leaving” feature that goes beyond other apps in allowing you to actually understand all train movements in an entire station at difficult moments like during large-scale disruption, or if you are simply trying to compare travel times for different routes. The booking system is however average. It uses split tickets to save (which is now standard for most apps) but when trying to use a railcard it automatically applies the discount to every ticket, so that you cannot buy one with and one without (or with a different card) - serious flaw when other apps easily bypass this. I have also had issues with services that require seat reservations, namely Lumo and LNER, where the system simply does not assign me a seat, making the journey less simple. In light of these issues, I occasionally use Railboard to buy tickets for shorter routes with no reservations but mostly use it just to check train movements live, which is definitely its shining feature compared to other, similar apps.

Thank you for the thorough review of both the 'Live trains' and ticketing features of Railboard!
For the issue of all passengers in the booking needing the same railcard... We absolutely agree with you that this is a limitation of Railboard, and we are working to make it possible for different passengers to have different railcards.
With regards to split tickets... Yes, we agree that many retailers do now offer them; however, we recommend checking your routes on different apps. Other retailers may offer split tickets, but they certainly don't all use the same algorithms. You may find Railboard's split tickets to be significantly cheaper!
For seat reservations... We always try and reserve a seat whenever possible. We'll look into any issues there may be with Lumo and LNER seat reservations.
But even if you're just using Railboard for checking live train times and buying the occasional ticket, we're still very happy you're using Railboard, thank you!
