**Don’t work with them — they are a scam. Look at all the terrible reviews before hiring this company.**
This was **the worst moving experience I have ever had**.
- The company **fraudulently locked me into a lower rate** of about $5,000 based on a phone inventory, only to inflate the charges later. I was forced to pay extra money for cubic feet **before pickup, at pickup, and again at delivery**.
- The pickup took **over 14 hours** because they showed up with a small truck and only one woman doing all the disassembly and loading. She told me the other workers simply didn’t show up. My family was stuck dealing with this from **8:30 AM to 10:00 PM**.
- Customer service was **rude, unclear, and completely unhelpful**. I had to talk to multiple people just to give my first available date, and they repeatedly miscommunicated the delivery estimate.
- They **damaged furniture, crushed boxes, lost items**, and even delivered **boxes and furniture parts belonging to other customers**—which I still have. I notified their customer service, but those customers still can’t recover their belongings.
- My experience matches **hundreds of other terrible reviews** describing the same predatory pattern: lure customers with a low rate, then use pressure and threats to force extra payments.
A company that operates like this **should not have a license to operate**.
Much like everyone else's reviews I…
Much like everyone else's reviews I feel that Midland has been deceitful and exploitative. They quoted us 7k to move from AZ to FL with lots of discounts and military pricing. Week of moving they jumped to 12k and told us it was due to the amount of belongings. Day before they jumped to 18k and told us they wouldn't be able to move our things that day due to their truck breaking down. They told us to make up for it they would guarantee a straight through delivery. That was January 16th. It is now february 2nd and they have stated they will deliver our belongings tomorrow. I have watched my things via airtag bounce all over Texas as they did load after load rather than delivering our things, at one point even going about 7 hours away from us before back tracking. No one gave us a straight answer about when we would be delivered or be honest about why all of our "discounts" seemed to disappear. They left us without our belongings with 2 infant children and raked us for more money at the last possible minute. Very shady business dealings all around and I highly suggest not using their services.
My 83 & 86 year old parents experience
My parents are 83 & 86 and relocated from Chester County, PA to Bonita Springs, FL. After speaking with Tim Segura, they had placed complete faith in the the company. Tim had scheduled a pick up date for 1/14th. On 1/11, my mother received a call from Leo stating they were going to pick up the following day, 1/12. He assured her saying that they would take care of everything, when she explained they weren’t ready. This put them out several days, they did not have beds to sleep in, etc.
The packers in PA were very nice and worked hard, however, their packing of some items were not packed carefully. They had not wrapped fragile items in bubble wrap and placed them in boxes with furniture such as side tables or with other fragile items, such as an antique china doll and oriental vases. Wardrobe boxes had clothes thrown in with furniture and clothes were put in drawers, when my parents were instructed to empty drawers. Luckily, only 3 items were broken, a frame, mirror & lamp.
I signed the contract and stated on the agreed price. However, when the driver arrived this was not the case.
Prior to delivery,Leo spoke with management and everything was ok to be delivered.
My mother received a call saying he wanted an additional $300 because of the distance to elevator. I can assure you that the distance to the elevator and apartment were much closer than their last community. Then, the driver said he wanted more than $700 because the truck was not going to fit. This is a blatant lie, as the community continually has movers and trucks are able to fit. The employee asked to be driven to the truck to see if it could fit and director followed the driver to the truck, again, to see if the truck was too large for the commmunity. The driver was completely RUDE, NASTY and disrespectful to the Director, telling him to shut his mouth and to my mother, as well. How does a price go up from $300, to over $700 and then Leo only backed down to $150 because management had gotten involved?!
The movers were there on a Friday night from 5-10, which is completely ridiculous, especially with senior citizens. The driver would bark orders at my mother. They broke a sign holder in the elevator. They set up the beds, however, did not put tv on its stand, as the stand was not packed with tv. The driver instructed my mother to call the company and they would send some over to assemble, since they were there all the time.
I called the 303 number this afternoon, asking to speak with Thomas Segura. I was told he was on the phone. I spoke with Sandra and told her the situation, while she apologized and said she would write up a ticket and have a supervisor call me, she also said she highly doubts anyone is going to come back to put the tv together. Sandra could not tell me when someone would call me back & no one ever did.
I called Leo and he is just a nasty man. He told me that the movers in PA did not pack me. He told me to check my language. He would not let me speak, he was yelling at me and hung up on me.This is how Midland Van Lines does business!
Leo is liar and scammer that likes to take advantage of seniors, which is why they want cash for balances.
I called the 303 number after speaking with Leo. Janette was lovely, apologized and asked me to document everything to ensure that corporate knows of the situation.
The driver and Leo need to be fired! I told Leo that this is bad business and that if I tell two people and they tell two people, Midway will get a bad reputation, that many people move from PA to FL. His response, “really? I didn’t know, thank you for letting me know people move every day.” He was very condescending. I also let him know that the community was a large corporation , who is now involved and have attorneys that were ready to get involved and will ensure that no one will ever use Midland. He hung up on me a 2nd time. I called him back and he said I am harassing him and dared to ask me what kind of a professional am I?
This company is dishonest, disrespectful, unprofessional, scam artists. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
The initial call to set everything waa…
The initial call to set everything waa very professional and detailed. EVERYTHING after was a nightmare. No communication, they lie about when they will deliver your furniture, they use 3rd party contractors to do all their work and because of that all the complaints with the BBB have a common reply, we have no record of this customer. They took 3 months to delivee our furniture, when calling them to get an update they always transfer you to dispatch who rarely answer the phone and when they do theh flat out lie to you. I could go on and on an on, bottom line NEVER use this company. Avoid at all costs. I cant even begin to tell you how stressed we were. I contacted a lawyer to try and file a class action lawsuit and had it been another month I would have called the Colorado Bereau of Investigations especially aftee reading everyone elses responses as I really thought they had scammed us for $ and took our furniture.
Hidden Fee's
My interaction with Midland Vanlines was not positive. The company’s service included hidden charges and misleading information, which contributed to an unnecessarily stressful move. Based on this experience, I believe customers may have better results with another moving provider.
TERRIBLE
TERRIBLE! They will lie to you over and over about your delivery date. The people are rude and will hang up on you. Do not use this company.
There should be negative star(s) added…
There should be negative star(s) added to customers experience for MIDLAND Van Lines. Our experience was heartbreaking! A NEGATIVE 5 (-5) We did not know this company was a broker and would farm out our move to the lowest bidder, BACKUP Movers LLC out of Chicago, IL. Both companies flat out lied to us. You can't file a claim if you can't get through to the company and, or, they are no longer associated with movingclaims.net. At this point, I'm guessing they are out of business. Our new large screen TV in the original box, monitors, several area rugs, large mirrors, etc., etc., the movers packed, never arrived. Two (2) boxes that do not belong to us, did arrive. (I'm Happy to send them to the correct owner???) In addition, 5 out of 6 wardrobe boxes were absolutely crushed in half. Expensive wooden table(s) were wrapped with plastic and scratched beyond belief. Yes, that's right. Only a couple of moving blanket(s). They used plastic wrap. The movers ripped off the marble top of my buffet, leaving a big hole in the wood. The black and yellow tubs we purchased from Home Depot for the move, very strong, were cracked, some were smashed, and a few arrived in one piece. (We had over 350 boxes.) We moved from Illinois to Florida, and this is how we started our retirement life. There are too many terrible issues to list everything. Reviewing legal action.
A moving contract does not give people the right to steel or damage personal property. It seems like a big SCAM!
Dishonest Thiefs
I loaded 100 cu. ft. onto their truck and paid for the minimum 300 cu. ft. Once loaded they demanded an additional $1,250 claiming I had 500 cu. ft. on their truck. When asked to measure and verify Midland refused. They are dishonest thiefs. Never use a company that won't use a credit card!!!
For us this was a long distance move…
For us this was a long distance move from South Carolina to Austin, Texas. The contents were "packed" and them moved to a climate controlled storage facility to be kept there until a home could be purchased and arrangements could be made to transfer the belongings to the new digs.
During the packing, outwardly it seems that things were a little bit hurried. It took over a month for us to be notified that the van had arrived in Austin, to be unloaded.
The first thing I noticed was that the contents were not in the truck which they had been loaded into. As things were unloaded, many of the boxes had been crushed or were deformed significantly. I had two storage units side by side, two 10x10s instead of a 10x20 which actually worked out better. I had most of the boxes loaded into one of the units and then the larger furniture items into the other unit. We had NO appliances at all. No fridge, washer or dryer etc. So this should have been an easy move.
As the boxes began to come off the truck, there were several wardrobe boxes that items had just been dumped into the box, i.e. a pressure washer, clothing, towels battery chargers for lawn equipment, with no care given to protect anything from rough treatment or rubbing against each other.
We have a set of 6 chairs, valued at over $5000 for the set. The chairs were flipped over on top of each other and then tape with packing tape, wood arms rubbing against each other.
Tiffany lamp shades that were thrown into a box along with other items that wore against the metal skeleton.
We are still unpacking as it seems that there was no rhyme or reason to the way kitchen dishes were packed into a box with kitchen cleaning supplies.
I guess that one thing that really bothers me is that there is no one to take responsibility for damaged items. Midland is a contractor that will hire any jake-leg crew to move your stuff, and there is no continuity or chain of possession to figure out who broke what.
Never, never use this mover.
If I could give negative stars I would
If I could give negative stars I would.
Close to a year and a half ago I was looking around, doing some price comparison on moving options. I put my number in to get a quote to see what price might look like. Big mistake.
Soon after my moving plans got canceled as I explained over and over again to the representatives that kept calling. Months passed and just ignoring the calls because irksome because they happened so much. I BEGGED representatives to take me off the list and somehow blocked 3 different numbers calling me about midland vans. The calls continued and I reached out over email, telling them to take me off all call lists as I am not moving and do not plan to move. No response. Now they call me 3x a week and hang up before I can answer and tell them off- it is incredibly irritating. Today they called and immediately hung up twice in 3 minutes. I called back and was rather short, saying I was beyond frustrated and demanding the removal of my phone number, to which representative told me she has no control over and promptly hung up. I’m losing my mind. Do not give them your contact even for a quick quote. This is my personal hell.
Sales Practices Very deceiving
I did not find the Midland "MO" to be any different than the discount brokers that I avoided. The day they loaded the truck I needed to pay $350 for tape to secure protective blankets. Regardless of the fact I was told by "sales" that I would only pay for volume shipped there were no provisions or means to collect for the smaller shipment. My original driver agreed to a volume of 85 cuft ($550) less than the estimate but despite my repeated efforts there was no credit.
I had reviewed my address and location on google earth with "sales" and was told that delivery should be no problem. 2 days before delivery I was told it would cost an additional $500 for a shuttle because they could not access with their 80' tractor and trailer. Seriously, how many residential locations can they access with an 80' rig.
Access to administration was impossible once pickup was completed.
Stay away!!!
Midland Van lines is terrible
Damaged art, broken lamps, broken glass ware, lost ladders, lost step stools, $2500 crystal vase destroyed - terrible subcontractor - Midland lied about doing the move themselves - full claim submitted including damages to furniture - insurance offered $200
⭐️ Review of Midland Van Lines
⭐️ Review of Midland Van Lines – Extremely Disappointing Experience
My experience with Midland Van Lines was nothing short of stressful, misleading, and incredibly disappointing. From the very beginning, major details were not explained to me—specifically the insurance options. I was never told there were two types of insurance available, nor given the chance to choose. As a result, I was signed up for the lower-coverage option, which has left me with little recourse for the extensive damage that occurred.
The original estimate changed four different times, each one increasing the price. After we paid a down payment, I was shocked to learn that they would not load my items onto the truck until the full balance—now nearly four times the original estimate—was paid. This put me under extreme financial pressure and even forced me to extend my move-out date for my apartment, costing me additional days of rent.
I was told my belongings would arrive within 10 days. Not only did they fail to meet that timeline, but Midland Van Lines held my items for nearly a month, in the Florida heat, with zero communication. Every time I called for an update, I received the same dismissive response: “I can’t give you an ETA on an ETA.” No one could tell me where my things were or when they would arrive.
When my items finally showed up—with no prior notice, while I was still in bed—the condition was heartbreaking. Many boxes, including those clearly labeled “fragile,” were crushed. Plastic containers were melted, warped, or cracked. Several pieces of furniture arrived chipped or damaged. A significant number of items were broken beyond repair. I had specifically instructed them on how to pack my artwork to avoid damage to priceless pieces, and those requests were ignored.
The entire process felt unprofessional, careless, and at times like outright bullying—especially the sudden rate increases and refusal to release my items until I paid in full.
I would strongly caution anyone considering Midland Van Lines. The lack of transparency, the absence of customer service, and the severe mishandling of my belongings made this one of the worst moving experiences I’ve ever had.
POTENTIAL AUCTIONING YOUR STUFF SCAM
Mr. Thomas Sequra a sales representative for Midland Vanlines is a very kind, con-artist who will manipulate you into using their services. He was dishonest about the move of our goods. Please, Please never use Midland to move anything. They keep your belongings for however long it benefits them and never communicate where your belongings are. However, once they do they've already accrued multiple storage charges on yo. It's their scheme!!
They are the scum of the earth
They are the scum of the earth! Dirty company, very dirty people! Jaxon I know you out there. Avoid at all costs!
DON'T USE Midland Vanlines!
If there was a rating lower than 1 star, that's exactly what this company would get! My advice is AVOID (run!) this company like the plague! Don't believe their advertising claims about being a top rated company! Take time to do your homework and read comments about the disastrous experience many have had with Midland Vanlines. By the time we figured it out, it was too late. Once they have your money, and the driver shows up, everything from the company side goes dark; no phone calls(after claims of being 'professional' and communicative), they don't answer texts, emails and don't return calls.
There is NO level of customer service and the employees I spoke to after our shipment was 'on the road' would not provide ANY information and became surly and spoke to me like I was in the wrong. I obviously called them too many times, inquiring about the location of our things WEEKS after being picked up, because if they answered my phone call, again WEEKS after picking up our things, they would not provide the location of the moving truck.
Our move was from Payson, Utah to Florida. We later found out that our shipment was offloaded into a warehouse in Salt Lake City, and sat there from October 5th until October 31st.
Our move has been an absolute nightmare from the day a CONTRACTED driver arrived at our home to begin loading our household and personal items. Despite assurances from the company that they would send a truck and crew sufficient to transport everything, and despite my conducting a Facetime video walkthrough of our home to give the company a visual of everything(backed up by additional photos I sent), the first thing the driver said was that we had too much stuff and we would either have to pay for an additional truck or leave some things behind! The driver, who was CONTRACTED, had no idea what assurances we had been given and he at least tried to help us as best he could.
Bottom line, our moving costs were almost DOUBLE the amount we were originally quoted and if I tried to challenge their costs, I(the customer) was told we had too much stuff and I did not understand how these things work with shipments. DO NOT use Midland Vanlines. We are senior citizens and our family and many friends have followed this saga! We will continue to warn everyone we can about their inept and customer-UNFRIENDLY business practices.
#0056324 order number
Midland Van Lines delayed my delivery and barely responded to my messages. Very poor experience!
Please listen to the bad reviews seriously
Hello,
Please do not use this service. They stole quite a few items and they will upcharge you every step of the way. I got harassed by the driver at delivery (which was two weeks late) and a lot of my items were broken. Even though their website says they are BBB rated they are not. Please don’t fall victim to this like I did. I ended up paying 3x the amount I was quoted because they will actually hold things hostage and can make up prices. Sadly the contracts are vague and there’s not much you can do about this
If I could give them a 0 I would
If I could give them a 0 I would. The quotes changes after to give them the down payment and that would be okay if they notified you of that change.. They were 10 days late for delivery. When the picked up our load they had no idea they were supposed to pack it up and load it. We contracted for a full service move. We were told that remaining balance after several payments was $1,436 upon delivery the balance was 3,880. Extremely unscrupulous business practices.
DO NOT USE MIDLAND VAN LINES.
DO NOT USE MIDLAND VAN LINES.
I was completely taken advantage of and scammed by this company. I booked a move for one 3-piece sofa and three glass cabinets. I gave exact dimensions and weights to James Listen, who quoted me $2,814.44 and promised to be there “every step of the way.” That changed the moment I paid the deposit.
We agreed the furniture would be picked up between 3/28–3/30. On 3/28, James called and said it might not happen until 4/1. I followed up that afternoon—no response. On 3/29, I spoke with customer service who said they’d reach out to James and call me back. They didn’t. Finally on 3/30, Leo called to verify the order and set a pickup for 3/31. Still not what we agreed to, but better than 4/1. The crew showed up late, but they came.
Then came the scam: after pickup, Leo called and said James hadn’t quoted enough cubic feet, and now I owed $4,881.44—an increase of $2,067. This is how they get you. Their scam is simple: they ask for your item dimensions, convert them to cubic feet, and put that number in the contract. Then after pickup, they tell you your quote didn’t include enough space, so you owe more. Even though I gave the exact measurements, I was told James only quoted us for 300 cubic feet, and our items took up “more.” As a first-time shipper, I didn’t even think to double-check the contract for cubic feet. I assumed James did his job.
When I asked to speak with James, I was told by Sandra and Joe that he was on vacation. I explained the situation and said I was happy to wait for James to return. Joe said he’d check with his manager—then Leo called again. I told Leo the problem started with James, not him, and I just wanted to speak to the person who booked this and put down the wrong info. Leo got increasingly aggressive and said unless I paid, my items wouldn’t be delivered.
They held our belongings hostage and left us no choice but to pay the second installment of $1,851.40 on 4/5. I asked for the name, license, and number of the delivery driver—Leo laughed and refused. At this point, I realized I was dealing with a well-practiced scam operation.
I called Frank in customer care on 4/7 to confirm the payment had gone through. He verified it had, but said the items weren’t in transit and couldn’t give me an ETA. I reminded him James promised delivery 3–5 days after pickup. Frank said he’d confirm and get back to me—he never did.
On 4/12, Christian called to confirm the address and schedule delivery for the next morning—despite promising 24 hours’ notice. We pushed it to 4/14 at 8am. Delivery happened, but one glass cabinet arrived damaged. At least Christian confirmed the final payment amount—$1,717.55—in advance, the only thing that was accurate in this whole process.
So what started as a $2,814.44 quote ended with a $4,881.44 bill—$2,067 more than agreed, thanks to deceptive tactics, poor communication, and threats.
Everyone I dealt with—James, Leo, Sandra, Joe, Frank, and Christian—played a role in the bait-and-switch. They act helpful until you question the charges, then pressure you with threats of non-delivery.
The good reviews? Likely fake or buried. Their entire scam is built around quoting low, underestimating cubic feet, and forcing you to pay once your items are on their truck.
Avoid Midland Van Lines at all costs. They are dishonest, manipulative, and not to be trusted.
