Be aware

Be aware. I only brought my country's digital (and not fysical) driver's license and did not get the car or a refund of the prepaid rental. No e-mail at the web-site to file a complaint. This was at Mallorca's airport.

The worst customer experience of my life

My flight to Malaga was cancelled the day before my departure and I needed to change my pick up and return times of the car; on the booking site this was no longer possible, so I contacted goldcar directly; their head office confirmed by phone that my request had been taken care of but on arrival no one was aware of it; no flexibility from the staff of Goldcar Malaga airport due to the fact that I had not booked on their site; they said (literally): "there are three different companies that manage this rental, our margins are very low" ! !
When I picked up the car - I had to argue for dozens of minutes about taking a 260 € insurance policy which they aggressively tried to impose on me even though I explained I had booked with a mastercard gold which already included full insurance for the rental car; they gave me a car with no less than 11 points of impact and they simply refused to check the vehicle with me; not even one of their agents in the parking (whom I met by chance) was able to identify all the impact points; the agent present in their office invited me to take photos and to leave.
When I returned the vehicle, no one to check the vehicle together. The result: half an hour after leaving the car in the parking I receive their report which indicates an impact in a hidden area, impossible to identify in their photo, and which and already estimated at 200 €; return in their office and there I lived the worst customer experience of all my life - the agent refuses to check the report against the photos I took , their so-called point of impact is in fact either an embossing of the factory or a fold present also in the photos that I took myself the day of pick up; I insist on solving the problem on the spot but the gentleman invites me to see with my insurer as I had refused their insurance and to leave their premises by telling me bye-bye (literally) and indicating the door; I ask to call his manager and there he threatens to call the police because I refused to leave.
Conclusion: if you don' take their expensive and redundant insurance services, they will invent (yes invent) a dammage to steal you some hundreds of euros.
I have filed a complaint on their website but from everything I have found about them on the internet, I have no hope.

I would NEVER use this car rental…

I would NEVER use this car rental company ever again and I made sure everyone on my social media, friends and family don’t either. What an absolutely HORRID service! We rented a car with them and got the full protection package. 2 days later the car broke down on the highway. When we called them not only did the RUDE agents keep hanging up on us because they didn’t speak english, but when we finally got through to someone willing to transfer to an English speaking agent, they told us they were unable to help because they had no cars and left us on the side of the road to fend for ourselves. They sent a tow truck and left the rest of it to us. We were stuck in that location for EIGHT HOURS, missed a pre booked tour, and could not find a taxi willing to pick us up or a hotel with rooms available.
This was a special trip as it was the first time my husband and I were able to travel together. We have kids with special needs and have not been able to take trips together because one of us has always had to be at home. Not only did this situation completely ruin our first ever trip in 7 years, but goldcar was completely unapologetic and unwilling to even offer any type of assistance. No matter how many times we called we were told repeatedly that it was our responsibility to get wherever we needed to go. €600 later we managed to get to the airport to return home after losing two precious days of our 4 day holiday. I am pissed off - and that is saying it lightly. I will be seeking a FULL REFUND and compensation for this disastrous service. My lawyer has already been contacted.

Crooks. Thieves.

Took a deposit, didn't return it. Claim I asked for extra insurance, I didn't. The car was a deathtrap, faulty brakes, filthy windscreen inside and out and windscreen washers didn't work. Thieves, scammers, bandits. All words used elsewhere on reviews to describe then and all accurate. Do not go near this firm direct or through an agent. You will be robbed.

STOP !!

STOP !!

Don’t use them because of cheap rent - they will find a way to get your money !!

Car was delivered back 110% ok - anyway goldcar has stolen 35,36 EUR for special cleaning.
Answer to this claim is only online and replays are more then 30 days.

Blev snydt med deres spanske kontrakt om depositum, som efter end leje var forsikring, som jeg havde betalt via Norwegian.

Bruger dem ALDRIG igen.

Airport Customer Service

The customer service at the airport when picking up the car was terrible. Not saying the process at all, or the organization, not that, but the person whom had conducted the process kind of mislead/tricky me to purchase an additional insurance package, when I had already one. I believe it was an act of bad faith and the way he told me money was going to be reimbursed at the end was all lies. At the end I paid the double for a renting that was good value in the first place but it turned to be a terrible deal. Despite the overall experience with the car was good, that decidable behavior it's a huge red light to not use the company again.
When I asked for explanations, the help from the customer care was none at all.
P.S. I paid the rental by an intermediary, and the insurance as well, so the fee was already paid, which was a really bad attitude by the employee.

Anna at Alicante Airport was excellent!

Anna at Alicante Airport was excellent. Her service was brilliant, very clear and helpful with all the questions we asked. Helped us get the best car to suit our needs at a good price.

Would definitely recommend using Anna in the future if you're going into Alicante Airport.

Avoid! I was lucky to leave with a rental car

I pre-booked a car from Goldcar Palma Airport for 10 days through DiscoverCars. I also pre-purchased rental car excess insurance/CDW.

On arrival, was quoted >3 times what I expected and a fuel return deposit of €158. I wanted to add my wife as a driver and was given a charge of 2 x DiscoverCars quote for this amendment.

I was given a choice of Goldcar SuperRelax CDW or a charge of €2k (maximum excess payable for any damage) to my credit card for 30 days with a transaction fee of 4.5% in each direction (which was €180, more than the charge for Goldcar's SuperRelax CDW!).

When I asked for an upfront breakdown of charges, the salesman refused. I asked for a pen to write it out myself and he refused. I lost it and he threatened to call airport security and no car. Being 22.45 at night with 3 kids in tow, I took a seat and prepared a breakdown on paper myself.

On returning to the desk, he threatened an additional €40 fee since it was after 23.00. I explained why I needed it written down and again he dismissed me. I proceeded to take Goldcar CDW and prepared to pay nearly €300 more than quoted.

Between signatures I tried to take a photo covertly to report him. He noticed and asked to see my email quote. He threatened to call the police if I didn't give him my phone to delete the photo. And no car.

I duly did so and, not knowing I understand spanish, said to his colleague, "what a jerk, he must be drunk!".

En contrario Senor, I took a photo of you on my way back through the airport and returned a car with a full fuel tank but with quite a bit of damage to the right hand wing after my wife clipped a wall.

A lucky escape having Goldcar SuperRelax CDW on this occasion, but to anyone considering booking or who has booked but can cancel it without charge... do it now and book directly with a reputable company!

I have never experienced a salesman so malicious, aggressive or horrid in my life and I don't want you to either. Avoid, sue or expect to pay Avis prices.

Les clients de goldcar sont pris pour des pigeons

Bonjour
Suite aux problèmes évoqués dans un autre message, la pénalité de 50€ pour ne pas avoir fait le plein d'essence, en pleine grève des raffineries, station service sans carburant.
La station service de l'aéroport Marseille Provence est à sec ,mais on vous facture le carburant manquant, c'est normal + une pénalité de 50€!!!
Éviter ce loueur et vous éviterez les problèmes.
Pour dialoguer il n'y a personnes mais pour vous vendre des options il y a du monde !!

Shockingly dishonest and steal deposit

Don’t use!! Will steal you deposit after you return car in good order with no explanation! Literally thieves!
Initial hire of car is relatively fine, although they’ll try and persuade you to take out lots of additional insurance and extras, but they’ll steal your deposit like they did to me! Be aware, avoid!

Keeping £355 despite confirming it should be returned

I would give zero star feedback if I could - Goldcar Lisbon took a £355 deposit from me on 23 August and claim that they returned it to my card on 28 August. It has never been returned, despite me contacting them by phone and email on multiple occasions. They are now not returning my emails at all and still hold my £355 over one month later.

Thieves

Thieves, pure and simple. Late for collection due to airline. Contract states 6 hours of courtesy for pick up. arrived within this time and they were closed. Waited until Morning and was told my contract was cancelled, all money lost. Refused to recognize that courtesy time in contract was not honored by them. - 400 euros or so then the cost of another car hire without any discount available due to short notice obviously - 600 euro.

Goldcar Palma Airport

I pre booked a small car for 5 days in Majorca, I tried to pre register to avoid the queue at the airport but the site wouldn’t allow it.I queued for 30 mins at 21.00 on aSunday and was then told legal paper Uk license couldn’t be used since brexit.My partner had her Uk card license so the counter guy proceeded to say it was €174.70 for 5 days (£151) , the original booking was £88 for 5 days when the amount was queried the guy said take it or leave it. On my return I studied the Spanish written bill and found I’d been charged €95 for Cobertura super relax and €14.46 Mega relax cover,neither of these were explained or asked for.
Beware this company will scam you for ‘unexplained extras’ I will not use them again.

avoid like the plague, we got charged 40 euros to pick up the car after 11 even though we picked up our ticket for the queue at 10pm, we went immediately when our number was called and were told we were rude for being pushy when someone cut in front of us in the queue, they made us pay for insurance we didn't want, ended up costing the same as a good rental place sixt etc, don't bother

The worst company. To share my experience hiring from Goldcar at Madrid airport. In addition to the premium insurance which everyone else has already complained about. Now Goldcar has invented something called fuel deposit to maximise their cash flow and more opportunity to con customers. Yes, be ready to pay 169EUR upfront - as a payment rather than pre-authorisation on your credit card - and then hopefully to get it back at their will.In final +400Euros!

Avoid - if you don’t want to ruin your holiday

To share my experience hiring from Goldcar at Malaga airport. In addition to the premium insurance which everyone else has already complained about, and frankly is common practice by all car rental companies, now Goldcar has invented something called fuel deposit to maximise their cash flow and more opportunity to con customers. Yes, be ready to pay 130EUR upfront - as a payment rather than pre-authorisation on your credit card - and then hopefully to get it back at their will. Secondly, be ready to spend at least one hour before getting your keys. The check-in counter downstairs in the terminal is fine but then you’ll be asked to get the actual key from another office at ground floor of the car park. Oh man that’s the longest wait I have ever been for getting a rental car key (and believe me I have rented a lot). There’re only two staffs working in the office with all the other staff chatting outside waiting for drop offs and for some reason it takes 20-30 min for the staff behind counter to serve a customer. In addition, I rented a polo but got a Hyundai i20. So in short, it’s expensive, slow, hugely inefficient, and you get lousy cars. Avoid like a plague!

They charged me £250 saying the car was damaged when it wasnt. Theres literally nothing you can do!! All I can say is your on a car rental booking site and see that the car rental company is GOLDCAR SEVILLE . Dont book. Pay a bit more and use another company.
