avoid like the plague

avoid like the plague, we got charged 40 euros to pick up the car after 11 even though we picked up our ticket for the queue at 10pm, we went immediately when our number was called and were told we were rude for being pushy when someone cut in front of us in the queue, they made us pay for insurance we didn't want, ended up costing the same as a good rental place sixt etc, don't bother

The worst company. AVOID!! Thieves

The worst company. To share my experience hiring from Goldcar at Madrid airport. In addition to the premium insurance which everyone else has already complained about. Now Goldcar has invented something called fuel deposit to maximise their cash flow and more opportunity to con customers. Yes, be ready to pay 169EUR upfront - as a payment rather than pre-authorisation on your credit card - and then hopefully to get it back at their will.In final +400Euros!

Avoid - if you don’t want to ruin your holiday

To share my experience hiring from Goldcar at Malaga airport. In addition to the premium insurance which everyone else has already complained about, and frankly is common practice by all car rental companies, now Goldcar has invented something called fuel deposit to maximise their cash flow and more opportunity to con customers. Yes, be ready to pay 130EUR upfront - as a payment rather than pre-authorisation on your credit card - and then hopefully to get it back at their will. Secondly, be ready to spend at least one hour before getting your keys. The check-in counter downstairs in the terminal is fine but then you’ll be asked to get the actual key from another office at ground floor of the car park. Oh man that’s the longest wait I have ever been for getting a rental car key (and believe me I have rented a lot). There’re only two staffs working in the office with all the other staff chatting outside waiting for drop offs and for some reason it takes 20-30 min for the staff behind counter to serve a customer. In addition, I rented a polo but got a Hyundai i20. So in short, it’s expensive, slow, hugely inefficient, and you get lousy cars. Avoid like a plague!

They charged me £250 saying the car was…

They charged me £250 saying the car was damaged when it wasnt. Theres literally nothing you can do!! All I can say is your on a car rental booking site and see that the car rental company is GOLDCAR SEVILLE . Dont book. Pay a bit more and use another company.

Goldcar is living from fraude…

Goldcar is living from customers paying for damages they never made.
Goldcars fleet is based om elderly and often very used cars with a lot of small errors which you can be made responsible of and billed for.
Experts on systematic fraude and extremely bad customer service.
Stay far away from them

Bad insurrance policy

Bad insurrance policy, blocking 1100 € for a month to force customers to buy an overpriced insurance is a bad way go make business. Nobody was at Goldcar car rental when returning car during official opening hours.

All that glisters is definitely not gold

One goldcar star at Palma airport, the most nonchalant, disinterested agents ever.
First my petrol cover charge was E165, when I questioned this, she had snuck on insurance.
For the next five minutes I was told it was compulsory and then a change of tack. I was informed my 1,100E deposit would be charged at 5% in exchange fees both ways, so it was cheaper to take the insurance. This company needs investigating for improper practices.
Now, none of my cards worked. I used a cashpoint and call my bank, all good.
I go back to the desk, the computer says no, I am told the card must be in my name and no cash.
I ask if we can try a different machine, NO. I go to a different desk and ask, NO, I can only use the original desk and agent. I pointed out we had been there more than an hour and the agent told me she would be their 8 hours. I did feel bound to point out to her that she did in fat work there and that is what happens when you work.
Very stressed now, no car, and my 80 year old mother is with me.
I check a few other rental companies, no cars available.
Back to the desk a third time. I see there are some others with the same problem. It took about four of us remonstrating with the agent before we were finally allowed to try another machine. More than 2 very stressful hours later we had the documents to collect the car.
Oh and no other rental company in more than ten previous bookings at Palma has ever added a random E45 airport tax, it’s always been included. It also seems to go against their own statement ‘Goldcar car hire Mallorca Airport offers all vehicles with inclusive prices, so local taxes and value added tax are included in the price you see online’

Excellent service

I picked up a car from Alicante airport this was the 2nd time this year i have used gold car. The staff on the booking desk were very helpful explained everything, they did not push me to purchase their insurance i left a deposit on my card. When i got the car it was clean and tidy there was one little scratch that was not on the damage report they took a picture of this and emailed it to me. on returning the car again their staff were very polite examined the car and signed it off. My deposit was returned to my card straight away I could not fault the service they provided well done gold car i will continue to use you.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Please DO NOT book with this company, I would give no star if I could, booked through Do you Spain and went for the premium insurance, on arrival at gold car in menorca I was told I had to pay for insurance, I explained that I had paid for the premium package, but they said I needed to pay an extra 273 euros as the insurance I had didn’t cover for accidental damage and a whole load of other stuff, initially I refused, but was told I wouldn’t be taking the car unless I paid, as it was 10pm at night I eventually relented and paid just to be on my way, I challenged this again when I dropped the vehicle off, a huge row erupted with one of the employees walking off and another swearing at me, and withdrawing the complaint form from my hand and told to be on my way, eventually filled in 3 complaint forms with zero chance of getting any money back I would imagine, absolute crooks.

It's all about those excess policies...

We ended up having to pay Goldcar's excess insurance of 290 Euros because they were unwilling to put use credit card that wasn't in my possession in the rental centre. They accept credit cards over the phone and over the internet, but were unwilling to accept my card details that were in my photos with my name on. They also failed to be available at their rental centre when we had an early return, so we had to walk from the car rental centre to the airport Terminal. We paid extra for this service, but they just didn't bother turning up. All in all a really unsatisfactory experience.

This should be called Bronze car, not Gold car!

We have a rental on the 17th august 2022. We have booked this through Do you Spain and the rental is with gold car. We are due to arrive at Malaga airport at 10pm.
We have booked the car to pick up at 10.00 at night and realised it should have been 22.00 as they use a 24 hour clock. Having spent lots of time trying to email and phone. Dario was very unhelpful and told us he could not change the time. We offered to pay an admin fee too. The company have said we will lose the car if it’s not picked up within 6 hours. Surely someone could help us out here?
We have now had to book another with a different company.

Cannot fault the service we received

From reading these reviews we were expecting a real battle and awful customer service, particularly given that we only paid 20% of the cost of other rental quotes.

However we found the service amazing - friendly, prompt, not at all pushy and very helpful. The car was immaculate, full tank of petrol and our fuel deposit was returned in full within 3 days of drop off. Absolutely no complaints and would definitely recommend Gold Car

I ordered and paid for an Opel Corsa or…

I ordered and paid for an Opel Corsa or similar with air conditioning, but got a Peugeot 208 without airconditioning.
our suitcases couldn't be in the car. We therefore called Goldcar. They asked us to write to them though their website. But you can't do that without a customer number . which we don't have. We only have a booking number, and it is not enough to get thougt.
Bottomline: I've paid for a product, that I haven't received.
Can't recommend this company, and in any way not the Key'n Go solution! You will get a wrong car, without being able to get in touch with an employee.

hustlers at Malaga Airport!!!

When booking the car online, we took a choice of only having the basic cover insurance and pay a deposit of 1400 EUR, as We''ve done before. When picking up the car, your employe at AGP Airport said that we couldn''t get the car without paying for additional insurance of a total cost of 214,84 EUR. I couldn''t cancel my booking and get my money back, and we needed the car. So we had no option but to pay, so we could go on with our vacation. Back home I can now see on your website that it''s still possible to do it without, just as I told your man at the desk, and just as we''ve done before without problems. I really tried to discuss it with him, but there was nothing to do, except to complain later. So that''s what I''m doing now.

The complaint they don't even read and comment on just replies that they're sorry I didn't understand the terms and conditions?!?!

I should have listened

When collecting the car, the Goldcar employee tried to sell me an additional insurance even though I had already bought a full insurance at rentalcars.com. He told me that the insurance I had with rentalcars.com did not cover fully. I didn't buy it though.
When handing over the car, there was no Goldcar employee who would inspect the car. Subsequently, they sent a no reply email with a charge of 150 euros for extra cleaning of the car. guess what, extra cleaning is not covered by full insurance, surprise.
I am left with the feeling that Goldcar is a hustler company.

Criminals

Criminals. Avoid at all cost!
They force you to take a « telepas ». They say it’s mandatory from Lisbon to Porto so you end up buying it, and then realize that it is not required. Even after asking: are you sure it’s needed and we can’t pay by cash? The guy says: yes.

AVOID - RIP OFF COMPANY

My plane was delayed and when we reached the desk they said they had cancelled the entire policy. This cost us an additional £1,000 to get a new car through someone else. No phone number or emails of the rental company provided worked.

We called continually and only received a recorded message stating that the office was closed and it was outside office hours. Both were not true. They were open and the phones worked, we just could not get past the recorded message.

All we wanted to do was warn them of our late arrival due to a cancelled flight. They cancelled the booking and let our car go. They did not even contact us to say they had done this.

In short, we did everything we could, they did nothing and when we arrived, they offered us another car 1,000 Euros more expensive. Refusing even to deduct the money we had already paid.

If their phone lines had been working, it would have been no issue, so entirely their fault as we could have warned them we were still arriving. There was nothing more we could do, so directly their fault.

They are not interested in helping. Avoid as the service is not there.

Absolute scam

Absolute scam, would never use them again.
Charged us for damage. Ignored our emails to them with photos of the car undamaged when we returned it and charged us anyway. No reply to emails. Will raise dispute with credit card company. Absolute scam. Stay away from this company!
