Dear Goldcar,

Dear Goldcar,
for me and my wife's trip to Sicily I had chosen to rent a car from your company, since you are international company as well as one of the biggest in the industry.
We were trying to rent the car through booking qith reference number in booking.com 747500014 at 12:30 on 16th of November. Unfortunately we were not able to do so, because one of your employee who was trying to scam us (There were two employees: one with not much hair and one with no hair, the one with not much hair is the scammer). Therefore we had to choose different company where there weren't any of the problems described bellow.

Now I would like to describe my experience:
When we have arrived everything was going well, the guy was joking etc. Everything has changed after he started offering us the insurance, which was almost twice more expensive (around 170€) than the car rental itself and even though I already had insurance buyed separately. Firstly he was trying to persuade us with the story that if any problem will occur, I won't have to pay anything. That is true and I undrestand that, it is also regular practice in every car rental company. What I really do not understand and I do not accept is what happened afterwards.
Firstly your employee started to persuade me that my insurance will cover zero money until the “participation amount” which is 1400 € - that is simply not true, because the high “participation amount” is the reason why I had bought insurance on booking.com. The second and more bizzare part of my experience came after  have refused this obvious lie.
When I was trying to pay DEPOSIT? 900 € (my limit is well over € 2000) with my credit card, he was telling me that the bank refused it because my limit on the card was too low. Then I tried the second credit card (with limit over € 4000) and again I was told by your employee that my limit was too low. I said that I would try to call the bank to find out what it wrong and strangely enough, this employee of yours tried to persuade me not to call there, because "the bank won't know what is wrong" and he was giving other similarly weird reasons.
I obviously called my bank anyway, and I've been told that on my cards there was not even an attempt to make a transaction and that my limits are just fine. Weird…After that your employee made me “the offer”. If I will pay the insurance for 170€ the DEPOSIT? will be lower and it won't be over my limit (which is a nonsense). After call to my bank and to booking.com I had to cancel my reservation, because I didn't want to get scammed. I had chosen Centauri car rental, where everything went very smoothy (unlike in your company) and there was no such problem with my card, even though there was higher DEPOSIT?.
After this experience I found out that there are other very similar reviews on Google for Goldcars on catania airport, please read it.
PS: I waited until 7th February 2024 for Goldcar to confirm with Booking that I did not rent the car and I can get my money back. (more than 3 months)

Awful

Would give them 0 stars if that was an option. Paid for the 'Key N Go' kiosk service to avoid the queues, that didn't work (repeatedly), staff didn't care, ended up waiting around for an hour with no explanation or apology whilst they tried to solve the problem(s). To top it all off the car was dirty, had no windscreen washer fluid and a slipping clutch. I completely understand that issues happen, it is how you deal with them that counts and on this and previous occasions Goldcar have been really poor. I have learnt my lesson now though, they are cheap for a reason! Value is not just the price you pay but about the overall experience and service - do yourself a favour avoid these guys and go for the next most expensive option.

car rented in Barcelona. I don't recommend it, be careful. after returning it, they take the money from the account. They cheat and take away fuel costs. I do not recommend. I will never rent a car there.

Urimelig ventetid og langsom ekspition

Har foreløbig ventet i 2 timer og er endnu ikke nået til tur - hvor svært kan det være at sætte mere personale på, man ved hvor mange der har bestilt og hvornår vi kommer. Har benyttet dette selskab i 10 år - nu er det vist sidste gang 😡

Unprofessional

At check-in the agent tried to sell me their own insurance at an additional couple of hundred euros because they don't like that I'd (a) booked via an agent (Holiday Autos) and (b) bought somebody elses insurance. They also told me to book direct next time. Unprofessional - if you don't want to sell via an agent, de-list yourself from their web sites.... They gave me a fairly new car (c6km on the clock), but already covered in scratches and dents, half of which were not on the report, so I filmed the whole car and took pictures and emailed their team which are supposed to update the form. I then drove the car for a week delicately so as not to risk any damage even though I was fully insured & returned it full of fuel. Then several days after the hire I find a charge for £121 on my credit card with no communication from Goldcar. Totally unprofessional. I've not managed to make contact yet because they are closed at weekends. It's a disgrace, but I'll get the money back via a chargeback via Mastercard as there is no authorisation so they can go jump. Will never touch Goldcar again, I usually use Avis and never had any issues at all with them.

Rip off merchant

Rip off merchant, vehicle check on arrival showed no damage yet I found damage to a wheel and front bumper. I got this amended note the car park is dark so use a torch to check everywhere. I got charged £175 for two scratches. I had the car for 12 hrs which to drive from the airport to our villa as we had arrived on an earlier flight so had to rent a car until we could pick up our original rental. We only did 95 km as it was straight to the villa then back to airport. They charge for damage that was already on the vehicle. The car was filthy inside either the seats and carpets muddy. I cleaned these before returning as did not want to get charged. When I spoke with the manager he was of no help and said I should have checked the car fully before leaving. Honestly there was no way you could have seen the marks they were now charging us for in the light of the car park. They go around the car with the torch on an iPad and go straight to damage that they know was there. Do not use this company total scammers read the reviews. I go over to Alicante 4 times a year and have never had any issues but this was the first time with Goldcar and never again

Avoid this scammers

We reserved a car at the Goldcar Bergamo branch for 620 euros. Our plane was 50 minutes late and when we arrived at the department it was already closed. The only one of all. The rest were open. Our plane was supposed to arrive at 20.50. We were supposed to pick up the car at 21.30. We arrived at 22.15 and they were already closed, although if you Google the opening hours of Goldcar airport bergamo you will see that they close at 23.59 like all other car rental companies. To get to the hotel we rented a taxi and paid 120 euros. The next day, having paid 120 euros again, we returned to the airport to pick up the car. And then a second surprise awaited us. A rude guy named Giovanni told us that the reservation had been canceled and now it was our problem. But he is ready to be lenient and rent us another cheapest car for 1250 euros. These scammers simply rented our car to other people and pocketed our 620 euros. In customer service, some crooked bot named Bruno answers, ignoring questions, saying that we are valuable as customers, but a refund is impossible. If you do not want to be deceived, avoid these scammers. These people do not care about their clients or their reputation. I will not stop and will go all the way, making this public, so that as many people as possible will know about the chaos they are doing. I just want to wish them a speedy bankruptcy so that the car rental market becomes cleaner.

Seriously they would be lucky to get 0. Bunch of active criminals 😡
I only have 1 star as it wouldn’t let me give 0.
These lot should be locked up for fraud, theft and operating a criminal organisation.
This is no exaggeration, avoid at all costs.

Scam

Absolutely agree with other comments made.
Hired a car that was covered in dents and scratches. All marked. They claim that I caused further damage and have charged my card.
No damage was caused to the car in my care. They are money making scammers. DO NOT USE THEM!

VARNING!!!!!
Rekommenderar ingen att hyra en bil av detta företag! Dels blev kostnaden dubbelt så dyr då vi var tvungna att betala för extra avgifter när vi hämtade ut bilen.

Dels utsätter företagen än för fara! Motorlampan började lysa efter femdagar och Goldcar säger då att VI måste köra bilen till dom. Dom tänker inte skicka ut en bärgningsbil då bilen ”går att köra” men att det är viktigt att den repareras…

När vi lämnar in bilen får vi inte tillbaka vår deposition då motorlampan lyser och det är ytters lite SAND I BILEN!!!!

Do not trust

A company completely organized to make money from consumers, starting with the website where they don't tell you the employee's schedule.
With this, they take advantage of people scheduling collections after the arrival of your flight after 9 pm, and automatically you will be charged 40.00 EUR because supposedly there will be "no one" to assist you at the counter, so we put on the website the collection after at 9pm, you are already paying 40.00 EUR more, so it is worth renting your car with Goldcar rather than any other car rental company.

Furthermore, I was charged for a tank of fuel + fuel difference even after being informed by the Goldcar employee that I would only pay the difference for the tank, and there was a fuel station in front of the airport.

I went to the counter to complain, they "couldn't do anything", I sent an email to lis@ (email provided by the person working at the counter) to this day I have not received a response. email sent on 08/28/2023.

After that I made a complaint on the website, and was informed there to send an email to cs@, to date I have not received a response either.

My feeling with this company is that they take advantage of people as much as they can, starting with the rental time.

So here's a tip, if you are going to collect after 9 pm, put + 40 EUROS at the top of "RATE" so there will be someone there to serve you, I arrived at 00:00 due to a delay, and there was still 3 people working with several people in line to collect.

Fraud. Scam

I rented a car for 4 euros per days. What a bargain, I thought. How naive.

When I took car, I went around and checked all damage with a representative of gold car.

There was a dent. The representative assured me that she has marked it in the report, which she will send by email. Never did. When I checked in, they charged me 240 euros for damage. Crooks.

Their business model - is lying to customers.
I was also surprised to hear of a fuel deposit. 154€.
And also my deposit was raised from 1100 to 1400€ without explanation.
Also the park tropic was defective and I had to listen to beeping 3 days straight. Otherwise the car was new and nice. But I will never rent with them again. Avoid at all cost.

Atrocious company avoid like the plague

Atrocious company - avoid like the plague. We went to Majorca and still to this day are trying to recover money from this unreputable Cmpany. They haven't paid our petrol back and also bullied us in to taking the £200 CWD insurance saying the European Insurance we'd taken out separately was no good and if the car was scratched we would not be covered. The policy number we have on the invoice doesn't allow us to register a complaint as it says it didn't exist. When we were in the queue one guy was going mad as they told him he had to take out their insurance too. Aggressive sales and false information. Our European insurance DID cover everything once we got back and had time to check. So many bad reviews and we wish we'd never spent a penny on this corrupt company. They put their rental charges really low on their website to suck you in. Please don't be fooled.. So many of the other bad reviews speak for themselves :O(

Damaged car without report rented out

If I could give just 0 stars would not even portray the picture. Crook business. Damages are not listed or reported and if you have full coverage, even though you took picture before you leave the rental garage the damages are listed on your rental even though it was reported that the damage was from the previous rental. Never rent a car there, neither europcar these 2 share cars and try to rip off people.

Despite having an existing insurance policy pre booked via Holiday Auto's, when I arrived at Goldcar's desk in Malaga airport to pick up my car I was subjected to what I can only describe as threatening and bullying behaviour by the Gold car staff at Malaga airport trying to persuade me to take out their insurance. They blatantly lied about my pre bought insurance saying it wouldn't cover breakdown recovery, windows, etc and that if anything happened I would have to arrange all the repairs myself. They would not speak to my insurance company who were on the phone while I was at the desk wanting to assure them I already had insurance. I was the only customer at the desk so the other clerks joined in telling me I had to take out their 'Peace of mind' insurance. The final straw came when a woman who I can only think was the manager appeared from a back office and started bellowing at me that I wasn't insured and had to take out their insurance if I wanted the car. This was a very frightening and absolutely awful experience. AVOID GOLDCAR AT ALL COSTS

Experiencia pésima, solo el trato del personal en Arrecife fue bueno. El precio gancho es un timo, luego hay muchos más costes. Para colmo, te cobran 50 euros por reenviarte una multa. De verdad una experiencia muy mala, no contratéis con Goldcar. Yo desde luego me he arrepentido, y mucho

The worst car rental company ever. Charged £1,554 for 2 burst tyres that were worn , won't provide repair invoice in order for me to claim against my insurance, so frustrating, the worst done go near them - note Carjet use them beware

ES645725000 Extra insurance trick!

Booked car rental through EasyJet ES645725000 including basic insurance. Pick up car at Almeria and pay a refundable deposit of £307.76 for petrol. Only get £123.65 refunded despite returning with a full tank. Today, the customer service agent advices it is for insurance. I stated we didn’t want or ask for extra insurance and have been tricked. She said you signed the form! She put the phone down! We signed for picking up the car and there was no mention of extra insurance at Almeria. I want the £184.11 refunded Goldcar!
