Goldcar snyder!!
Du skal IKKE leje bil fra dem! Vi blev snydt på Gran Canaria. De påstår (efter at vi er fløjet til DK), at vi har lavet 3 nye ridser på bilen, som vi skal betale 400 euro (ud af depositum) for. Vi har INGEN ridser lavet, og bilen var allerede så fyldt med ridser da vi modtog den, at det var umuligt at få overblik over!
Terrible - avoid at all costs
This was a terrible experience including:
- a waiting system to pick up our pre-booked car that meant people picked a ticket up at the desk and were called in an order according to a mystery fast track system. We were bypassed several times
- an extortionate add on insurance charge at the desk
- when we got a puncture after 10 days, instead of being able to get it fixed at locally they insisted on a pickup truck taking me and the car all the way back to Malaga airport to swap the car - a trip of 1.5 hours each way
- at the airport I was given no choice of car but was given a diesel replacement
- when I got home I saw an unexpected £75 on my credit card from Goldcar. I called customer services to query this and was not treated with understanding, I was told to email them. This I did and I received a reply stating: "for the diesel car we have charged 35€, plus 5,25€ of Office Premium and 50€ of the missing fuel of the first vehicle".
They also said in their email: "Remember that for picking up a diesel vehicle, there is a surcharge for this type of fuel, as it is offset by the additional benefits such as lower fuel consumption, lower price of diesel and usually with a more powerful engine." This is quite astonishing and I am getting nowhere at getting a refund for this diesel car that I did not want.
I suggest to anyone reading this review to steer well clear of this dreadful company!

My Flightnetwork voucher for Goldcar, Airport Las Palmas states that the tank may be partially full upon collection. In my case, there was fuel for 290 km. This was noted but later ignored. When I returned the car I had filled up to 490 km. Despite this, I have been charged 18 euros for fuel and 50 euros in penalty for not having filled up, a total of 68 euros, which could have been saved if there had been an agreement between Goldcar and Flightnetwork.
It is thought-provoking that Goldcar does not fill up before delivery to customers, but later charges a fee for filling up and even penalty charges.

Da vi havde afleveret bilen i Malaga lufthavn i den stand som vi modtog den i med de ridser den havde, fik vi en besked 2 timer derefter hvor der pludselig var kommen en 3 cm. ridse i lakken, og den kostede 10.800,-kr at få udbedret.
En mærkelig svindel GoldCar arbejder med, fordi vi ikke havde betalt for Full-Cover forsikringen tager de pengene fra vores betalingskort uden at vi kan gøre noget.Hold jer langt væk det er kriminelt det de gør.

Rented a car with Goldcar . Arrived on the airport from Malaga they told us that the booking was cancelelled because they did not had the car anymore ( fiat 500 cabrio) , but when i was aski,ng for the same car , it was possible , only 4 times more expensive than when i booked it . They are thieves , never rent with them !!

I wish I had read all the reviews first before I rented a car from gold car , we rented ours from the airport in murcia and wish we had not , the first car they gave us wasn’t a suv the one we had ordered , but we went along with it and then we got a puncture , so we called the breakdown people out who made us go to a place were we could get the puncture repaired that was over half hour away and then when we got to the garage they told us that they won’t be replacing the tyre and left us stranded in the middle of nowhere we’re , then we got a taxi from the garage to the airport costing £20 euros and we just got there in time on a New Year’s Eve to get another car and then we were charged £280 euros for the tyre repair and the recovery, before they would give us another car but we then had to drive all the way back to were we were staying in San Pedro and put the petrol in ourselves,
The whole experience from these people and the car hire company is a disgrace and I hope one day they go out of business so they don’t inconvenience any other people
Terrible Experience – Untrustworthy and Unresponsive
Two months ago, I returned my rental car to Goldcar and was supposed to get my €1200 deposit refunded within the agreed timeframe stated in the contract. While my earlier emails were answered, my last two emails have been completely ignored.
I have sent a total of 10 emails and called them 5 times. Every time I call, I’m told the issue has been “escalated,” but nothing happens. They keep giving me excuses, push me off the phone, and promise follow-ups that never come.
Goldcar says one thing but does the opposite. Even with clear contracts and terms, they are unreliable and make you wonder if you’ll ever see your money again. At this point, I’m considering legal action just to get back what’s mine.
I strongly recommend avoiding Goldcar. Don’t make the same mistake—choose a trustworthy agency that actually delivers on its promises. This company is an absolute disaster to deal with!

J'ai loué une voiture pour 3 jours à Goldcar via AutoEurope. J'ai fait le paiement de 130EUR pour la location + assurance complète à AutoEurope via leur site web.
Arrivé au guichet de Goldcar à Barcelone, le réceptionniste, très désagréable, me dit qu'il n'y a pas d'assurance pour cette location. Je n'ai donc pas d'autre choix que de payer 145EUR supplémentaires pour obtenir les clés de la voiture. Il me prend également une réserve de 148EUR pour la benzine au cas où je n'aurais pas fait le plein au retour.
Je rends la voiture 3 jours plus tard avec un plein fait à l'aéroport. Personne n'est là pour réceptionner la voiture et je découvre avec stupéfaction 3 jours plus tard que les 148EUR de réserve pour la benzine ont été débité de ma carte de crédit !
Pour ce qui est du double paiement de l'assurance, je contacte AutoEurope pour m'entendre dire que je n'avais qu'à pas signer le contrat supplémentaire de Goldcar !
Ma location à 130EUR s'est finalement transformée en location à 423EUR !
J'ai finalement réussi à récupérer les 148EUR de la benzine au prix de dizaines d'e-mails...
Des entreprises comme Goldcar et AutoEurope qui gagnent leur vie en volant et flouant leurs clients ne peuvent que finir par dispraître, ce que je leurs souhaitent vivement !

Abzocke mit Zusatzversicherung
Bei der Abholung des Fahrzeugs teilte mir ein Mitarbeiter von Goldcar mit, dass ich € 467,04 als Kaution hinterlegen muss, welche ich zurückerstattet bekomme, wenn ich das Fahrzeug vollgetankt zurückgebe. Ich sagte Ihm daraufhin, dass ich keine Zusatzversicherung wünsche, da ich bei der Buchung des Mietwagens bereits eine abgeschlossen hatte. Die Versicherungspolice zeigte ich Ihm. Daraufhin sagte er mir auf Englisch, dass er dies wisse.
Er gab mir ein Dokument auf Spanisch (obwohl er wusste, dass ich kein Spanisch spreche) welches ich unterzeichnen musste, um den Mietwagen zu erhalten. Nach der Rückkehr aus dem Urlaub stellte ich fest, dass doch eine Zusatzversicherung (Cobertura Super Relax) für € 186,88 für 11 Tage abgeschlossen wurde. Obwohl ich dies bei Goldcar mehrmals moniert habe teilte man mir nur mit, dass ich dafür unterzeichnet habe. Ich hätte ja die zusätzliche Kaution wählen können. Für mich steht fest: NIE WIEDER GOLDCAR
No help from Goldcar
Rented a car via Goldcar. The car was a little old and with many scratches- but worts was the batteri. Resulted I. Problems starting g the car. We called Goldcar customer service and the called for a road assistance. The guy measured the battery, gave electricity and told us to drive 35 km for replacement of the battery at Bosch. When arriving at Bosch, they could not help us! Luckily we did not swift of the engi engine- and drove back again while trying g to contact Goldcar so-called customer service. Talked with several different departments - ending up with “we cannot help you” try to call Goldcar. Seems customer service printed t Goldcars rental paper is a sub company not ble to take any desissions. Hereafter sevell calls to Milan airport - they suggested another rod assistance to come. Tried to explain we have rented a car and need a car. Just to pick up the car do not som e my problem. I am a customer! So far no road ssistance have called. No car to use for my meeting tomorrow and no help from Goldcar. Thank you for NOT trying to help!
Do not use Gold car Faro - Terrible company
DO NOT USE GOLDCAR FARO OR ANYWHERE. Terrible company. Total scammers and you need to take detailed photos of every part of the car. There were so many scratches on it and they claimed there was one on a small part of the wing mirror. They charged €195 and we had to pay as couldn’t produce a photo of that part of the wing mirror. It was clearly an old scratch. Do not use this company under any circumstances.
Overpaid, 4 hours wait, third party booking, Mallorca
Booked through booking.com. Booking for 3pm, I was there at 1pm. Booking could not be modified on booking.com. I had to wait until 3 to get served, because I booked through third party. Had I booked through them directly they would have assisted they said. I then waited 2 hr to draw a ticket to wait another hour and a half to get served. I paid my booking but at the counter I was asked to pay an additional twice the amount of which I will get a pittance back, called deposit, to me that is theft. While in the queue I was forewarned by other upset customers. Never never again.
NEVER
NEVER, NEVER use this company to hire a car!!! We hired the car at Bilbao airport, one and half hours from where we were staying, it broke down twice, the first time we were unable to get first gear, it took 3 hours for the breakdown recovery to arrive! The second time was on the motorway where the gearbox on the vehicle had completely failed and the car just stopped, we had to call emergency services to get us to a safe place and then the car hire company to pick us up. We waited two hours for the taxi to arrive and take us back to Bilbao, one and half hours away to pick up another vehicle, there was no sorry for your inconvenience, just a nonchalant shrug of the shoulders and if to say, things happen! Two days of our 7 day holiday were ruined and to say the least it was very stressful, especially as we don’t speak Spanish or French! Had we not taken fully comprehensive insurance out when we arrived at the car hire office (extra on top of paying in full from the UK before we arrived) plus tourist tax for driving in France) we would have been stranded on a dangerous motorway! We have hired cars all over Europe whilst on holiday for many years and have never had any problems at all. I hope this review helps when you are considering hiring a car in Europe.
