I wanted something that was out of print. Nowhere else was selling it, except languages direct, so I ordered from them. Then I noticed they already had negative reviews from people who never received their orders so I became concerned, especially as the item was no longer in print. Three working days later there was still no dispatch confirmation, so I emailed. No response. Eventually I phoned and the person who answered seemed bemused at my concern, and said they had to order the item from the publisher, and that three days wasn't a long time to wait. (maybe it wouldn't be a long time to wait for delivery but it's a long time when they haven't even been able to get hold of the item yet since you need to add wait time from the publisher and then delivery time to me.)
I told him I was concerned because the item was out of print. He hadn't known this and looked into it. Eventually it seemed he couldn't get hold of it, so I asked for a refund, to which he agreed. At the time of writing I'm still waiting for a refund. Definitely wouldn't use again.

I hope this review will be useful for people considering ordering from Languages Direct. I needed a textbook for my B2 Italian class and spoke with Brian in the UK about whether I needed the most recent edition or could just order an older edition from Amazon. He insisted that I needed the newest edition because of the on-line learning platform and exercises that older editions didn't have.
This made sense to me, because it was what I had with my text for my B1 class. So I paid a premium, and paid extra for express delivery. It was three weeks before I received my book, and when it came, it didn't have the code to access the online learning. So what I have is the hard copy, with no access to the online platform. And it isn't clear that the book is the latest edition.

But the worst part of the experience is that when I emailed Brian, hoping there might have been a change in the way that one accesses the online learning, he did not respond to my message. I don't like to use the word scam, but I certainly do feel that I learned an expensive lesson.
I don't recommend ordering from this company. I wouldn't do so again.

Love bien-dire magazine, but the last subscription renewal with these clowns is horrible. Zero customer support - no response via email or phone, and it's starting to look like I'll never get the subscription I paid for.

This company is a scam !!! I’m a French professor and ordered about 100 dollars in books for my class. It’s been more than a month and nothing - no follow-up email, no tracking, dead end at customer services. I have no idea if I’ll ever get my books or my money back.

Updated review! I have now received my book and it's great. The only reason I've not given 5 stars is because there was quite a long wait (over 2 weeks) which made me worried that I'd been scammed.
