Amazing service and experience

We stayed at Hotel Du Vin - Cambridge last Sunday for my husband's 60th birthday and what a treat!
The staff were attentive responding well to questions and requests. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and well stocked of essentials that are complimentary and access to a mini bar with clear pricing if you wanted wine, beer soft drinks or snacks.
We had booked a taster menu, with 5 courses and wine that compliments the different courses. All the Bistro staff were attentive without crowding, Peter especially made our experience by explaining the choices of wine and why they were chosen before leaving us the enjoy each course.
After the meal we spent some time in the bar area where again the staff created a welcoming and relaxed environment, making suggestions of drinks when asked again showing strong knowledge of what they can offer to complete your evening including an interesting selection of cocktails.
Thank you for such a fantastic experience, we will definitely be back again!!!! Well done The Cambridge Team.

Worst. Breakfast. Ever.

My stay at the Avon Gorge Hotel du Vin was OK, but the breakfast was appalling. Having had one of the best breakfast ever at the Malmaison in Dundee a couple of years ago, I had high hopes. Not for long. £15 for something that even the lowliest B&B in Blackpool wouldn't deign to serve, is an absolute p***take. If you do go to the Hotel du Vin in Bristol, take my advice and get breakfast elsewhere. The roads around the hotel are jam-packed with cafes serving all manner of breakfasts, but if you want a posh fry up head to Cote around the corner. Much much better value. And they know how to smile too, unlike the staff in the HdV.

Hotel De Vin

Hotel De Vin, Cheltenham. Amazing service, attention to detail, very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend. Excellent food. The staff member coordinating everything for my daughter’s wedding was a delight to work with. The service given enhanced the special occasion. Thank you.

Xmas Eve family meal ruined

Xmas Eve family meal at Avon Gorge Bristol - beautiful setting , 3 generations around the table and what I can only call a disaster in terms of service - slow and erratic delivering wrong food to wrong people with allergies involved and then making the cardinal sin of cooking steaks badly 3 times( cold , undercooked with string still attached , slow and eventually delivering a sirloin instead) and bringing vegetables well after the accompanying meal was delivered . Apologies accepted but this is a continual issue only with this venue as have used the Bristol city centre for 20 years in a corporate capacity often . Less than ideal sadly .

Shocking service - best avoided

Just spent £300 buying a gift voucher for a Christmas gift and have had the most APPALLING service. They refuse to post-date the voucher till Christmas, so a month is lost on the voucher and despite paying £4.99 for first class delivery so that I could gift warp it and send it with other items prior to my leaving the country the voucher had not arrived 10 days later. Nightmare getting hold of anybody to help, and they refuse to refund the postal charges. I'm not bothered about the £4.99 it's a matter of principle. I seriously wish I had spent my £300 on another hotel group. Lets hope the service in the hotels is not as shocking as this and that my daughter can redeem the voucher without a terrible experience

Never again!

Went to Bistro du Vin in Glasgow, with my Husband and granddaughter. It is also known as 1 Devonshire Gardens. We were looking forward to going as we hadn't been before. We had a gift card for £250 from my Daughter from Christmas 2022. We booked lunch and the food and service was great! When we got to the part of paying, the waitress informed us there was a problem. This was after we had put on our coats and was ready to go! The gift card we gave her was showing £0 ie: no money on the gift card. We couldn't understand this! They said they would look into it but obviously didn't, as the supervisor informed me they were looking for me to pay our bill. We were mortified and felt very awkward, embarassed and humiliated! But I had no hesitation in paying the bill (but what if I hadn't any money) I dread to think what would have happened! She said she would ring the complaints dept when she had time but I said I would do that when I got home⁷. She gave me the number and we left. I called the number as soon as I got home, but it was an automated response asking for a meeting number, therefore I wasn't able to get any further with the call. I called Hotel du Vin explaining the situation and was informed one of the managers would call me back, which he did. I was informed my Daughter had not received the 1st gift card sent by them and another was sent in it's place, but, was not validated with a code for the £250. The manager said he would call me back once he looked further into it. I have had time to think all this over and I am very angry with how this was initially dealt with. My problem with this was, why was this not dealt with while we were there! It could have been resolved especially as the manager I spoke to was on sight! The Manager called me back and explained every detail of what had happened and apologised profusely. Our bill was nearly £190. He asked what I wanted to do with the money that was left on the card and I said give it to the waiting staff as we had no intention of ever going back. The money left on the card was over £60, but what I didn't realise there had already been a charge of £13.50 added to our bill for the waiting staff.
I now believe the manager at Hotel du Vin should have put the £250 (gift card) into my bank account and given us our lunch for free. When you are faced with a problem you have never come across before, especially when you are made to feel awkward, mortified, embarassed and humiliated, you just want to get away as quickly as possible,
Needless to say, I or my family will ever step foot in Hotel du Vin again!

Wedding experience

Dewi, Desi and the rest of the team did everything in their power to make our wedding day perfect.

It’s a shame the hotel put profit over our experience and booked another wedding, and another function, at the same time as ours.

This overwhelmed the team who worked so hard against the clock. Despite this, details were missed that I’d discussed multiple times previously and the day was delayed from the start.

Overall our guests absolutely loved our wedding and the venue, but there were a lot of comments on how inconsistent the service was. Not just during our wedding but during the entire 4 night stay.

If using this venue just know the staff will do everything in their power to make your day special, but the hotel will prioritise their profits.

The food was diabolical

The food was diabolical, even the staff had a chuckle at the when they served it. The room was over priced and the parking cost were an additional kick in the side, one I’d didn’t need after consuming the breakfast.
If anyone is considering staying in Wimbledon, look elsewhere.

Wonderful Gala Dinner at the Hotel Du Vin Birmingham UK

Excellent venue and dining experience!

We had 68 guests from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Sweden and the UK attend a wonderful gala dinner at the Hotel Du Vin which was fabulous from start to finish.

The guests loved the venue, which was perfect for our Peaky Blinders themed event.

The pub du vin was an excellent setting for the pre and post drinks.

They were also impressed with the Courtyard and the opening roof.

The food was fabulous and all allergies and special requirements perfectly catered for.

Chris on the bar was excellent and coped well with all different nationalities there and their drinking songs.

Ian and his staff were very attentive to everyone's needs and were amazing in the way they worked around the different countries strange presentations which included an interpretation of Swan Lake, Freddie Mercury and musical chairs to name but a few.

All were in agreement it had been a fabulous night and everyone had nothing but praise for the staff, the food and the venue.

Thanks again, we will definitely be back!

Birmingham: Dirty bathroom

Stayed for my sons 1st birthday. Not family friendly. Lots of stairs.
1. Front entrance is not accessible. Need to ask every time reception to open the back entrance.
2. Dirty bathroom. Wanted to pour a bath for my son, found previous guest’s pubic hair on the mat. Had to give it a proper wash.
Then my son managed to drop his dummy on the floor, omg. We had to leave it there, it’s an absolute disaster. Lots of hair, dirt. Gross, don’t know how to attach pictures here but I have proof

Wonderful pre wedding experience

We booked 8 rooms at Hotel Du Vin,Newcastle, prior to a family wedding. Vanessa and Pav were excellent hosts and the whole staff team made our stay very enjoyable,nothing was too much bother. The rooms were spacious and breakfast was exceptional. The whole team made the family welcome and this added to our wonderful and memorable experience.

Hotel Du Vin Edinburgh - too expensive and poor service

Have stayed at Hotel Du Vin Edinburgh several times and alway had great service to the extent its been our go to hotel. BUT what has happened! We booked into a £500 a night broom cupboard. The bar ran out of the house red wine. The very limited room service ran out of fancy names toasted sandwiches - but we were offered breakfast cereal or yogurt as an alternative. No excuses are available as the hotel knew it would be busy enough to increases room prices to outrageously high rates.

Birmingham

Birmingham. Understaffed or just incompetent? Not sure. Waited 45 minutes for a coffee. Went to the bar after waiting politely at a table, and was asked to sit back down by the 1 person serving. Waited again for 30 mins and asked again at the bar, order finally taken - I could have sat until close if I hadn’t have asked again. If the bar allowed self-serve it may make some money. We would have had 2 rounds of time had allowed

Basil Fawlty has nothing on this lot - I booked two rooms, Avon Gorge, directly with Hotel Du Vin one with a bath, view and balcony which was written on my reservation only to arrive at the hotel and no such room exists....I was then offered an upgraded room on the basis I paid more, the manager interviened and the member of staff was told to upgrade us ...the upgrade overlooked an ugly grey flat roof and was told if I turned my head to the right I would see the bridge!!! I could go on and on and on. If you still decide to stay at this hotel, the position is wonderful, the beds are comfy and view is lovely as long as you do not have to turn your head to the right, but, don't expect a smile from most of the staff or even very basic friendly or even efficient service - the bare minimum expected when staying in a "nice" hotel and if you like Bloody Mary's you will be out of luck.

Lived up to its 4 star rating, then some

Stayed at HDV Edinburgh for a theatre visit on Friday. This hotel did not let down, everything from the location, the decor, the food and the staff could not be beaten. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will DEFINITELY be back.

Unusually good service

Recently had a very comfortable stat at Hotel du Vin Exeter. I did the classic 'leave my laptop charger' trick in the room and was going to be stumped with out it. Miraculously, housekeeping found it, handed it to reception and they posted it back to my home with next day delivery. Super service!

Stayed at Avon Gorge Hotel du vin

Stayed at Avon Gorge Hotel du vin, Bristol. Staff friendly and helpful, place designed to be dark, OK if you like that sort of false sophistication. The reason for the one rating is that when I went to check out I was told that the extras (2 rounds of drinks and a meal) came to £70, without providing me with a bill. (It is normal when you check out at a hotel, they print off a bill you inspect it then you pay) So I asked for a bill which on inspection showed a load of service charges, at no point was I told I would have to pay a service charge for drinks in a bar… I was told they would be delivered to my table I did not request such a service. As soon as I queried the service charges they offered to remove them. It seems to me the staffs are trained to behave in this apparent underhanded manor. I am sure the service charge issue is hidden away in some small print somewhere. This hotel is not the Ritz or anything like it. These practices I would suggest are more than questionable. Will I stay at a Hotel de Vin again….no!

Wedding, Hotel du Vin Brighton

We just had our wedding at the Hotel du Vin Brighton. The ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening party were all hosted at HDV Brighton. The pre-wedding organisation from Dewi and the team was excellent - always calm and collected.
Our big day was amazing. Desi and the operational team were incredible, with everything under complete control.
The staff team - Sam, Agata, Zoe, Laszlo - and we are sure many others behind the scenes - helped make our day very very special and we will treasure our memories for ever.

Recently stayed at the Poole Du Vin...
Calls itself a luxury hotel mmmm
Very disappointed not only with the room smelling of sewage..Over priced..Car park charges we where not made aware of..even our car was blocked in overnight by a car and van..feeling rushed at dinner and breakfast even though there where maximum 8 other people in the restaurant..our table hadn't been wiped cleaned..
On the returned sent an email to them on feedback..nothing so far..
Wrote on Google maps and had a reply...sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us this time...mayby another time!!! I wouldn't stay there again...So even the customer service is poor.....
