Got the best rate and my team was great! Had a little bump as was ready to close but all was worked out and I was made whole for the delay. Communication was great as was always available even on weekends!

I was mortgage shopping, found them on Nerdwallet. The first phone call the person started to leave a message before the recording started, so the message made no sense, did not leave a name nor a phone number that I could understand.

Hours later second call, no name left, different voice, so different person. Again no phone number that could be understood. Mumbled the name "Tomo", sounded like "momo".

I redialed the number, got a recording, press x for, etc., so I hung up.

A few minutes later a third person called back, said they missed my call (first two were male this was a female). I said I was calling to let them know I was no longer interested. Instead of saying thank you and ending the call, she says, "I thought you were mortgage shopping"? I said I am, and "I am going to be less tactful you should have left it at I'm no longer interested". The I described the phone messages and said if your people cannot do a simple task of leaving a coherent phone message, I can't trust you to handle a mortgage. She apologized and said "if anything changes", to which I said "no nothing you can do would trust me to have you handle a mortgage".

My experience with Tomo Mortgage was extremely frustrating and unprofessional from start to finish, and I would strongly caution anyone considering using them for a home loan.

To begin with, communication was almost nonexistent. The team was consistently unresponsive, forcing me to chase them for basic updates and answers that should have been provided proactively. Their lack of responsiveness became a major source of stress during a process that is already time-sensitive and detail-heavy.

Worse yet, just one day before closing, Tomo attempted to change the loan terms, despite the fact that my interest rate had already been locked in writing. This is not only unprofessional—it’s a violation of trust and standard mortgage procedure. A last-minute change like this could have jeopardized the entire transaction, and it showed a complete disregard for transparency and integrity.

Because of their mishandling, the closing was delayed by a full week, which caused a ripple effect of inconvenience, added expenses, and unnecessary stress for everyone involved—buyers, sellers, attorneys, and agents. This delay was entirely preventable and was the direct result of Tomo’s lack of diligence and attention to detail.

Overall, Tomo proved to be not diligent, not reliable, and not customer-focused. Buying a home is too important to risk with a lender who doesn’t honor agreed-upon terms, doesn’t communicate, and doesn’t take ownership of their mistakes.

I would not recommend Tomo Mortgage to anyone looking for a smooth, professional, and trustworthy lending experience.

It was a roller coaster ride kind of experience with my first time home buying and I appreciate Tomo for all the assistance they provided us through the journey.

PJ Nemish and Paige Fields were great and helped me find the right interest rate, and were prompt and efficient in closing the deal on time. However, just one suggestion to make the underwriting process a little more smoother.
