Disappointing handling of a straightforward upgrade
We recently upgraded from a shared hosting plan to a VPS with GreenGeeks, which required a manual migration handled by their team. At the time, we reasonably assumed the old plan would be cancelled as part of that process.
However, months later we were unexpectedly billed $370 due to the old plan auto-renewing. This was despite the fact we had already moved to – and were paying for – the VPS.
When I contacted support, they acknowledged the situation and initially offered a refund minus one month’s fee. While I appreciated the gesture, it didn’t feel justified given the upgrade was handled manually on their side and the original plan should have been closed.
I was then told I needed to cancel the old plan myself — something that wasn’t communicated at the time of upgrade. After doing so, the case was escalated again, only to come back with a worse outcome: a refund minus two months’ fees.
So instead of resolving the issue fairly, the situation has actually deteriorated.
Overall, this reflects poor account management and unclear communication. For a paid upgrade handled by their team, I would expect much tighter control over billing and a more reasonable resolution when things go wrong.

My website is gone
My website is gone. I don't know what happened to it but all the files were deleted. I worked with technical support to uninstall WordPress and that did not immediately help the situation. I have no backup for the website. I just checked again and see that what has been restored is not a functioning version of the website. The website is the only public facing communication about the nonprofit effort I am trying to launch in my spare time and the "coming soon" message caused us to lose credibility with Ohio EPA who we seek to work with. It would have been nice if GG would have alerted me to the status when it first happened. I have been using GG tools for years now and find them cumbersome and confusing. I have professionally trained basic web design and have made sites in basic HTML/JS since 2000's but really struggle to create anything good looking using your tools. I didn't even know about this survey until I found your email in Google promotions. I am very frustrated.

My experience to-date is best represented through my answer to this question: "How’s everything gone so far with your GreenGeeks setup?"
INCREDIBLE is my 10-letter summation!
This was a big move for us to make bringing 3 (simple but important to us) websites, multiple domains, email addresses, etc., from my decades-long relationship with another web hosting company to our brand new hosting home @ GreenGeeks.
There is more to occur with everything (domains take days to transfer and there are some DNS settings that need to be updated once things have completed their transfer into GreenGeeks' hands).
It was a busy and kind of scary weekend for us as things were shifted and we learned many new things from GreenGeeks excellent and supportive Tech Team(s).
And, that's my basic message: GreenGeeks has incredible products and pricing - backed-up by excellent and supportive Tech Team(s)!
Who in this oftentimes impersonal Tech-world that we are immersed within could ask for anything more?
Not me.

Been with GreenGeeks almost 8 years now.
I never had a problem in this period. If there something i needed online chat with support solve most of issues. Uptime on servers is 99% good for my business.

Great support experience
I thought that something really, really bad had happened to my ability to get my email. Luckily the rep at GG was quite calm about the whole thing and explained what had happened and bot only how to fix it, but actually went in and fixed it for me.

I don't update my site often, but when I do I use an ftp program, because I find it easy for me. Recently, I could not get it to work and reached out to GreenGeeks to find out why. It seems there's new protocol, and me, not being really tech savy, have to do a bunch of things to get it to work. I did try, but time running short I used Control Panel (a real pain to me) just to get it updated. Not GG's fault, just something I now have to learn and configure so I can use my ftp program. So far, GreenGeeks have been great to work with. I really can't complain and the tech stayed with me all during the chat/fix/configure episode and also sent me a site to help me configure the ftp. I will do that at a later time, but for now, all is good. Nice to know you can actually get a "real person" to guide/help when times call for it. All smiles here!

I have been with GreenGeeks for over 10 years, and after several years trying to fit with a great hosting service, I have never been anything but 110% happy with the service that GreenGeeks provides.
Any questions I have, they'll answer, if I need a bit more time to pay, they'll sort it. They are reliable, I've never had any downtime issues, and their cPanel has so much stuff!
