GMS picked up our stuff 3 months ago. It's still in UK and they want even more money to give our stuff back!! They cannot give a timeframe about when they will ship the items and are hiding behind T&C that basically give them an unlimited period of time (could be years) before they send the items, after estimating 3 months to delivery. This is clearly unfair trading practice and unfair trading terms.

I very much regret engaging with GMS. Firstly - they're an affiliate or agency, they don't actually do the shipping. My first advice is always engage directly with the company that owns the trucks and will drive your stuff to the destination.

Secondly, we got a quote when we didn't really have an exact idea how much we were shipping. When we amended the load to half the size - they requoted but basically the same price. We got no real explanation why, just some excuses.

Thirdly - our shipping was delayed due to Brexit and Covid and we got very little response from our emails to GMS asking about where our stuff was being stored, etc. Very unresponsive - promising over the phone to email but then hearing nothing for over a week.

Lastly - they tried to extort us for £500 for "Brexit hassles". Little did they know the actual shipping company (the ones with the trucks) had already been in touch and I was able to ask "is there any extra costs because of Brexit?" and they said that their wasn't. GMS chased us for the £500 and when I said I was getting some independent advice and for them to provide a breakdown of what went into the £500 - we never heard from them again.

Please do your homework and book elsewhere - and if at all possible, only with a company that actually has the trucks and vans. Otherwise you're dealing with a middleman who will only take your money and provide nothing of value for it.

I used GMS Move for a removal from the UK to Germany and quite last minute as well. James was very helpful from the start and was very patient with my quotes and insurance and general removal queries. I obtained 5 quotes including GMS for my move and GMS came out in the middle. They were a little cheaper than what I expected to spend and adding insurance wasn't an issue. The most hassle free company I dealt with. James was prompt with his emails. They don't require to have each item listed for their insurance which was helpful as I had packed my belongings by the time I obtained the quotes. They also kept the date we had originally discussed although I took longer sorting things out from my end. I then dealt with Lisa who helped me get the time agreed for my pick up and delivery in Germany.
Overall, GMS has been very professional and helpful. The guys who picked up my boxes and delivered them to Germany were very great as well. I would highly recommend using them as I can only say good things about this company.

Very attentive until they get your business. Helped me move from the UK to the US - once my shipment had left the UK was completely unable to contact the team, shipment arrived late had promised me on 3 occasions they would build furniture at US end. When the team arrived they had no equipment or bolt cutters to get into container.

Proceeded to throw my boxes into house inclusive of other peoples rubbish that had been left in container. Unable to build furniture and refused to take rubbish away with them. Also tried to charge me $400 on the day which I had to awkwardly refuse whilst trying to get a hold of GMS to clear up the situation.

Really poor service - would not recommend.

I hope that I can help people stay away from this company! I unfortunately used gms’s service to ship just 9 boxes from Sweden to the USA. This entire process took 6 months. The initial cost for this was $1000 dollars. I agreed to this amount in which I paid this in Swedish Krona. I gave the exact amount requested but a time after I had to pay more because they said the amount given was incorrect because of the exchange rate? Finally I paid this extra amount and my goods where shipped. My boxes were placed in a container with another 17 customers. The container was flagged for customs because gms did the paperwork wrong for one of the customers in the container. This caused a two month delay! This also caused all of us to pay customs fees. This doubled the amount of my cost! What should have happened is that the fees should be divided by the % of the room inside the container. Instead gms divided this evenly even though there was gms’s fault for improper paperwork.. I finally received my boxes with a cost of 1700 usd and my boxes where completely destroyed with many of my items destroyed! So all I’m trying to do is warn anyone that is moving not to use this company! I hope this helps anyone that is planning on moving by avoiding this company// peter
